To guard their secret base, the Separatists enlist natives of Mustafar as sentries against potential intruders. Armed with long blaster rifles, the Mustafarians ride atop giant, flea-like creatures.

What Star Wars film isn’t good for introducing us to a never before seen species? Some of the Star Wars films bring more than others, but Revenge Of The Sith was one that brought some of the most unique. Computer generated imagery aided Lucas in developing characters that probably wouldn’t have seen the light of day were it during the time of the Original Trilogy. Some argue that this would have been OK, but there are some creatures from Episode III we’re thankful to have seen realized in any method possible. The Mustafar Sentry is one of the characters as far as we’re concerned. Many of the natives of Mustafar wear similarly colored outfits. There is a common theme of bronze and teal/navy blue colors used throughout. Mustafar Sentry are the guards of this fiery volcanic planet, although they didn’t seem to do much guarding as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi arrive on their home world. Not seen all that well in the film (because they were mostly at a distance), the Mustafar Sentry is a tall creature with simple characteristics. Hasbro did a fine job translating this Mustafarian into an action figure. It’s one of our favorites.

Mustafar Sentry only comes with 10 points of articulation, but the figure fools you into believing there is more. Hasbro makes great use of the points they did decide to add into this figure and there of premium quality. For example, ball-joints have been added to this figure’s shoulders and ankles. The figure has some balancing issues, so articulation in the ankles is very beneficial here. The figure has a very lean stature. It isn’t much taller than your average 3.75” Star Wars action figure, but it appears he is indeed taller. The paint job is incredible. Although this figure has the appearance that only two colors were used to decorate it, the bronze details just push this figure over the edge. Mustafar Sentry is authentic to the still seen up close in Revenge Of The Sith print materials, so Hasbro really treated this Star Wars character with justice. The figure comes with a blaster rifle with an energy bolt that attaches to the end of it. The packaging brags that this figure has a “spinning energy bolt” but this really isn’t the case at all. That said energy bolt just attached to the top of the figure’s gun.

Also included with the Mustafar Sentry is an action figure base that is meant to be a miniature environmental stand meant to look like Mustafar. It’s cool to get this base with the Mustafar Sentry because it matches so well with the character’s environment, but this figure breaks Hasbro’s rule that Collection 1 figures comes with action features and Collection 2 figures are collector-focused and come with a display base. This figure is the only exception to this Collection 1/Collection 2 rule in the entire Revenge Of The Sith line. As an action figure, the Mustafar Sentry isn’t entirely that exciting. This figure is for hardcore collectors who find solace in a Star Wars figure whether it’s one barely seen in the films or a main character. The former is definitely true in this case. Not only do we appreciate the rarity of this Episode III figure, we also want to see its Lava Flea also made. That creature is probably very unlikely to ever see production, but we’ll hold out hope that it will one day be made. Until that happens, we’ll just have to enjoy the Mustafar Sentry. It’s a perfect collectors’ figure and one that won’t need a revisiting.
