"I'll take a good fight any day over all this hidin' and freezin'!"

From Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, relive your favorite moments leading up to the Battle of Hoth with the Sideshow Collectibles Captain Han Solo - Hoth Sixth Scale Figure.

On the run and with a price on his head, the intergalactic smuggler Han Solo joins the Rebel Alliance at their remote secret location on Hoth, Echo Base. Dressed for the planet's notorious sub-zero climate, Solo is fitted in an authentically replicated blue quilted parka, complete with rank insignia and fur-trimmed hood. Two scarves, a cap and goggles frame the lifelike portrait which perfectly captures actor Harrison Ford in the role that made him a star - and for additional display options, swap in the portrait without headgear, depicting Han as he appears inside the base.

Though hiding and freezing on the wretched ice cube doesn't sit well with the smuggler's disposition, when Rebel Commander Luke Skywalker goes missing during a routine patrol, Solo has no choice but to leap onto the back of an ill-fated tauntaun and go out after him. Fully equipped with a blaster pistol, macrobinoculars, droid caller, and portable life scanner, he's willing to risk everything on a rescue mission to find his friend and save the day.

In an effort to satiate the unbelievable and long-running debate on the true color of Han Solo’s parka in The Empire Strikes Back, Sideshow Collectibles graciously pacifies both preferences by creating two separate Captain Han Solo (Hoth) 1:6 Scale Figures at $199.99 a pop. Yes, many collectors were outraged that they would do such a thing. How hard would it have been to make an exclusive version which included the blue parka for about $25 more? Why must the devoted collectors have to shell out double the money for the same figure, save for a differently colored coat? Despite your position on this madness, we have to say that both versions of this figure are looking quite fantastic (even if one is clearly wrong). To make things even more confusing, both versions have corresponding Sideshow Exclusives, but all units of the Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Blue Jacket Version] are only available at Sideshow Collectibles. (You won’t be able to find the blue coated version anywhere else.) To be extra clear, there is no regular edition available of the blue coat, so if you want the novelty blue jacket, Sideshow is your only option. Sideshow Collectibles has come so far in the production of their 1:6 Scale Figures. The progress has jumped in leaps and bounds to the point where it’s nearly overwhelming (in a good way of course). Authenticity, ironically in this case, has always been at the forefront of Sideshow’s approach, and Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Brown Coat Version] serves as another testament to their unwavering level of quality. This figure is both beautiful and stunning. It reminds us once again why we’re with the 1:6 Scale Figures line hook, line and sinker. You really cannot match the artistry of these high-end collectibles. And Sideshow Collectibles ensures their customers that these will provide lasting enjoyment for a lifetime.

Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Brown Jacket Version] is another brilliantly amazing 1:6 Scale Figure. We are so pleased with how Sideshow constantly elevates their quality standards to produce high-end collectibles that compete neck and neck with so many other longer-established companies. Let’s be clear. Sideshow Collectibles has their own unique niche. But between the enhanced portraits, the fitted costumes and the perfectly accompanying accessories in the last few years, Sideshow is clearly on a mission to engage Star Wars fans like never before and we think they’re doing a fabulous job doing so. We honestly have to express that Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Brown Jacket Version] is another step above even some of the most recent 1:6 Scale Figures they’ve released. They even seem to be competing with Hot Toys, a company that is anything but their rival. After all, they’re in a partnership with them. So many of this figure’s details will impress you. We will itemize a few of the highlights. Han Solo’s quilted parka is of course bulky, but it is also streamlined and fits the Prometheus body beautifully. It is then accented with a replica belt and holster as well as cold weather accents like multiple scarves and undershirt. His pants are equally fitted and their new “two part” boots, while sculpted, look true to life and finish off the character wonderfully. Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Brown Jacket Version] is a pleasure from top to bottom and it has more than been worth the wait to see him finally released. Sideshow doesn’t even load us up with too many interchangeable hands. Just the right amount are included and their equally utilitarian as they are well designed. Everything is here for a reason without any piece seeming unnecessary or trite. Thankfully there is nothing wasted here and that’s stuff we like to see. There is nothing worse than padding figures with nonsense.

Sideshow Collectibles included a droid caller which perfectly attaches to Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Brown Jacket Version]‘s belt. It couldn’t be a better fit. We think that the holster isn’t perfect, but it is able to accommodate the DL-44 blaster (with silver tip). Perhaps the most impressive accessory included here is the life scanner. Sideshow Collectibles actually included four separate attachments for it in this release. This means that you can have both antenna in a retracted position, or both antennae in an extended fashion. And if you march to the beat of your own drum you could probably set up one of each to be different if you so choose. The life scanner itself is just beautiful. No detail was left out and collectors are going to become more intimate with things they never knew about these accessories beforehand. These extras boast an extravagant amount of detail and impressively show how much work went into them. And this also explains why these figures have approached the $200 MSRP now. Just like Commander Luke Skywalker (Hoth), Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Brown Jacket Version] comes with binoculars that have a real leather strap. Also included is an interchangeable portrait of a “plain” Han Solo head without any head gear at all. It’s a little bit boring, but it’s a nice option to have and certainly provides another screen accurate version of Han Solo from The Empire Strikes Back. You’ll certainly be more preoccupied with the head sculpt wearing the cap because that portrait is especially stunning. This attachment also has goggled which can either rest on the brim of the cap or be worn over the eyes when outside in the icy tundra of Hoth. Captain Han Solo (Hoth) [Brown Jacket Version] is certainly a work of art, and it’s the CORRECT version of him. His coat was brown! There shouldn’t be any questions at this stage of the game! We’re exceedingly glad Sideshow has the collectors at heart.
