Lak Sivrak - POTF2 [FF/TKC] - Basic

The Shistavanen Wolfman, expert hunter, tracker and Imperial world scout meets the mysterious Rebel Florn lamproid, Dice Ibegon. The two would eventually become Rebel Warriors and fight in the Battle of Hoth.

One saving grace about the Special Editions (whether you liked the updates or not) is that Lucasfilm Ltd. allowed Hasbro to continue making characters they digitally edited out from the film. case in point would be Lak Sivrak, the simple yet awesomely looking Shistavanen Wolfman from Chalmun’s cantina in Mos Eisley. He confronted the lamproid Dice Ibegon face to face and aside from that we didn’t see too much more of this costume. Lak Sivrak was digitally replaced by Ketwol in the A New Hope Special Edition. George Lucas has said time and again that the cantina was one sequence that made him very unhappy. In fact, most of the characters in the cantina were cobbled together from “off the shelf” Halloween masks and Mr. Lucas never felt that they looked good enough as is. What Lucas may have not realized is that his fans didn’t seem to care and were more upset that he wanted to treat Lak Sivrak as if he didn’t exist at all. The good news is that now we have a 3.75” action figure of Lak Sivrak that turned out quite well.

Lak Sivrak has six points of articulation. He is a typical action figure in The Power Of The Force “2” lineup. But he stands out from the rest because he has been tooled with incredible detail and a stunning likeness. It’s hard to translate fur into an action figure, but we think Kenner/Hasbro succeeded tremendously here. Plus, the face sculpt of Lak Sivrak is brilliant. We’re extremely impressed by the excellent the likeness of this action figure and how faithful it is to the character in the original version of Star Wars. The detailed hands and the unique backwards bent legs are something you know that Kenner/Hasbro had to create from scratch as most of the cantina aliens were just heads or actors where we couldn’t see anything below the chest of their bodies. We think that Kenner/Hasbro really did an excellent job of creating a believable fully realized character that hasn’t been seen to date from head to toe. Now that this action figure has been released, all of those questions have been answered.

Released as part of the Freeze Frame line, Lak Sivrak comes with, oh the irony, a cell of film from the original unaltered version of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. In an era where so many new action figures and beast are being designed after the Original Trilogy’s enhancements, it’s nice to see some classic characters like Lak Sivrak fight their way through the modernism and respect the roots of Star Wars. Sure, it’s a bit gloomy to think that he has been removed from the film, but memories are something that not even George Lucas can take away from fans. And with Hasbro reigniting these memories by creating this figure, it makes the release of it all the more special. We’re getting a little too philosophical here, so let’s get back to Lak Sivrak. He is an alien. He is from the cantina. And he has been produced in 3.75” for the very first time and the final figure is excellent. Is there much more you want to see here? With two cool accessories and a nice paint job to match, you could do a whole lot worse choosing an action figure, so choose this one!
