Ten years after the fight to save Naboo from invasion, the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. Under the leadership of a renegade Jedi, thousands of solar systems threaten to secede from the Galactic Republic. A courageous Jedi Knight, his impulsive and headstrong apprentice, and a queen-turned-senator are drawn into the heart of the conflict... and the beginning of war.

Plo Koon is a member of the Jedi Council. Special equipment protects his sensitive eyes and nostrils from Coruscant's oxygen-rich atmosphere. With his extensive grasp and control of the Force, Plo Koon leads the Jedi into battle on Geonosis.

We suppose that not all of the Jedi in the Star Wars “Saga” line can mete expectations and that’s precisely how we feel about Plo Koon (Jedi Master). We sometimes use the word “bittersweet” to describe action figures that come very close to the point of impressing us, yet fail in one or two areas. But with this action figure we suppose it fails first but has some charm depending upon how you look at it…. literally. Plo Koon (Arena Battle) is actually a very standard looking action figure, but his pose is very awkward and twisted. But in general, it would have behooved Hasbro to pose all of the Jedi in the Star Wars “Saga” line is straight poses, without any leaning, running or twisting of any sorts. A big part of the fun with having a static action figure is finding ways to pose it so it looks like it’s in action. The problem here is that the “thinking outside the box” has made Plo Koon (Arena Battle) an inferior action figure. He is in need of some major assistance.

Plo Koon (Arena Battle) has the ability to stand unassisted, but the balance is precarious and may fall over at any time. His left foot in particular is in a terribly “bent” angle and by the looks of it we don’t even understand how it’s become so functional. What affects Plo Koon (Arena Battle)’s aesthetics even worse though are his arms. Unlike some of the other Jedi in the Star Wars "Saga" line, Plo Koon (Arena Battle) has swivel shoulders and swivel elbows. OK, so that sounds like it should provide a nice range of movement, but it does not. The only effective pose you can get from these points of articulation is a broad stoke sweeping motion. There aren’t any swivel wrists so that you can turn the lightsaber blade in multiple directions for some versatility. When all is said and done, Plo Koon (Arena Battle) (in our opinion) can only achieve one decent and believable pose from one angle. We feel the other poses look contrived and desperate. Of course, you’ll have to be the judge of that yourself.

Plo Koon (Arena Battle) comes with a lightsaber hilt, blue lightsaber blade and a Force effect. Just like with so many of the other Jedi in the Star Wars “Saga” line, the separate hilts and blades are a wonderful feature, but there are nightmarishly prone to breakage. The frequency of this is so bad that collectors have stopped setting up these figures with the blades attached. One simple fall over of the action figure can forever damage the blade so that it’s unable to be plugged into the hilt ever again. The tiny attachments on the blades are so brittle that it almost makes no sense why Hasbro has taken this route to provide this feature for the figure. We can’t imagine kids having any usable fully lit lightsabers left after the first play with them. They would undoubtedly break off with the lightest impact. That being said, Plo Koon (Arena Battle) isn’t without any positive characteristics. He does have a good head sculpt and his coloring looks pretty good. Other than that however, you’ll definitely be waiting for better takes of this Jedi for your own collection.
