A clone trooper patrols the streets of Coruscant. The trooper is equipped with a blaster, riot shield, and enforcement baton to help him subdue troublemakers. With his fellow troopers, he keeps order in the busy cityscapes that cater to everyone from diplomats to criminals. The troopers are always alert and on guard for the threat of trouble.

Didn’t Hasbro say the 2008 TCW [F/S1] Clone Trooper (No. 5) sculpt was being retired (more or less)? When Clone Commander Stone came out, Hasbro stated that the tooling to the standard clone trooper body was becoming worn and that they needed to develop a newer (and supposedly more accurate) base figure. Well, all of that has seemed to be placed on the side as far as the Riot Control Clone Trooper is concerned because it utilizes the 2008 TCW [F/S1] Clone Trooper (No. 5) body. Actually, we don’t mind at all. While there is quantitative proof out there that the Clone Commander Stone (CW44) action figure sculpt is more accurate to the clones in the television show, we kind of prefer the super-articulation of the older sculpt. Riot Control Clone Trooper actually scores higher marks however for its awesome accessories and brilliantly executed paint job (which is simple but just stands out).

As you know, Riot Control Clone Trooper has a beautiful 14 points of articulation. These include ball-socket head, ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed elbows, ball-jointed wrists, ball-jointed torso, swivel hips, ball-jointed knees and ball-jointed ankles. We will state again that ball-jointed articulation below the hips isn’t that helpful when the hips are swivel. But the figure does have more than your average mobility and poses very well. It is important to note that the Riot Control Clone Trooper comes with the same head sculpt as the one that was used for the Kmart exclusive 2011 TCW [SOTDS] Clone Captain Lock. This gives us a whole new look for the basic Clone Trooper body. However, the best part of the Riot Control Clone Trooper is his accessories. Hasbro developed a translucent shield with the Coruscant insignia on it. The shield is gorgeous and when you have the Riot Control Clone Trooper holding both the shield and his baton, the figure is immediately reminiscent to the 2007 TAC Concept Stormtrooper (30 09) figure. Instead of the shield being clear however, Hasbro went with a smoky color and it does wonders for the accessory.

Riot Control Clone Troopers were part of the Coruscant Guard. Making their debut appearance in season 2 of The Clone Wars, the Riot Control Clone Troopers were utilized to search and find the Duchess of Mandalore after her alleged assignation attempt of Davu Golec. We have received other members of the Coruscant Guard as action figures. 2009's TCW [F/S1] Commander Fox, 2008's TCW [F/S1] Clone Trooper (Senate Security) and 2010's TCW [S2] Clone Commander Thire (CW32) are all examples of clone troopers part of this legion. They all have the Coruscant insignia some place on their armor. The Riot Control Clone Trooper is another fancy, albeit mostly white, clone trooper that looks so cool and we want about a half dozen to control those many rowdy action figure we currently own. It's great to get another one so quickly again in the basic figure line. Hasbro has been very discriminatory about when they bring a new clone trooper into the line. Thankfully their focus has been elsewhere in The Clone Wars line, but it's always nice to get a new take on the many, many clones that appear in the show!
