This Jedi Council member is respected for his great wisdom and discerning counsel. A diplomat by nature, he urges discussion and compromise over open conflict. Yet when he must raise his lightsaber in battle, he does so with the skill of a true Jedi Knight.

Mace Windu, described by Anakin Skywalker as powerful, is one of the most popular Jedi ever to grace the Star Wars films. It is an obvious no-brainer that he appears as a main character in The Clone Wars film as well as the exciting animated television series. Mace finally gets the recognition he deserves in the form of an animated styled action figure (a bit overdue in our eyes) and he delivers great joy to collectors in many ways. Mace Windu has ten points of articulation and we are inclined to comment that he could have benefitted from a little bit more like articulated knees and ankles for example, but he is still a great action figure as is. Mace is usually involved in quite a bit of action, so his static pose is a bit of a small disappoint. Still, he has self assurance written on his face and will grace dioramas beautifully despite lacking a plethora of articulation points. He has a very confident stature and holds an imposing attitude with his unreadable grimace. To top if off, he comes with a nice amount of accessories (including chest armor, shoulder armor and removable helmet) that make him look like a clone warrior. They are simple add-ons to his tame Jedi uniform but that is about it. The removable armor parts are bizarrely colored and you may think at first that they are glow-in-the-dark accessories. They have that grayish/yellow or off-white color and it fooled us enough to test it and make sure that is wasn't indeed glow in the dark. In fact, the armor doesn't match the forearm armor that is painted in a very bright white on the figure. Mace also comes with his signature purple lightsaber and this accessory is also expertly sculpted and styled and it looks fantastic with the rest of his uniform. We are very amazed with how much detail Hasbro gave this accessory.

Mace Windu has been unfortunately designed with an action feature (and it is something we didn't realize until we started playing with him). Had we done our due diligence, we would have read the packaging to learn of this effect beforehand. He has “swinging lightsaber” action but thankfully the convention is extremely well-hidden and basically is unnoticeable when the figure is displayed. It is not until the waist is moved that you will notice this feature. Thankfully, the waist and other parts on his body are not exaggerated out-of-scale as a result of this action feature inclusion. It is completely seamless. And despite the action feature, we would like to state that Mace's sculpt is absolutely stunning. He is a spectacular action figure and his likeness to his appearance in the television series is flawless. The figure is overall quite an awesome accomplishment and we think Mace may soon be one of the most popular Hasbro has produced for this line. He is lean and looks height/weight proportionate and his posture is confident and unwavering. Hasbro ensured that most of his costume looks familiar to what we saw in the Prequel Trilogy and they really did a great job remaining faithful to it while still introducing a new angle that we now see in the television episodes. If it weren't for the forearm gauntlets, he could easily be an animated version of the film character. That is about the only thing making him different from the movies. Mace's head sculpt is really extra special. He has the perfect amount of attitude and poutiness and once again, his likeness to the character in the TV series is beyond excellent.

Due to his limited articulation, it is hard for Mace Windu to serve as a warrior (in your collection) and this is a shame since he comes with so many action-orientated accessories. An action figure that comes with removable armor pieces should be able to combat other figures. In order to combat other figures, you need a lot more articulation that what Mace Windu has. But nonetheless, he is a strong Jedi leader and most likely will have his clone trooper army performing most of the battling for him. (Actually, we all know that Mace fights on the front lines of battles.) That is not to say that this is a weak figure. Extra articulation would have been gravy for him, but it really doesn't affect the overall quality and he still looks awesome beyond belief. Mace Windu can certainly hold his own place in the line and we honestly have no regrets with this action figure in any way. Fans of Mace and his clones will also love the design on the helmet. It has all the purple goodness you could wish for and it has an added Galactic Republic symbol and Jedi Temple like pattern blend on it. The fin is colored solid purple and it gives the helmet just the perfect finishing touch! Whatever your take on The Clone Wars, this Mace Windu figure is such a cool (and overdue) figure for the line. And we are so happy to finally have him and we believe you will be too! The Clone Wars line clearly has a lot more to show collectors and we look very forward to what the line will continue to bring us. We do hope that future figures include more animated interpretations of the Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters from the films. They look so cool in animated form!
