Character Profile

Species

H'nemthe, a humanoid species from the planet H'nemthe

Status

A regular at the Mos Eisley cantina

Weapon of Choice

Knife-shaped tongue

Characteristic

Fell in love with the tax collector/bounty hunter Feltipern Trevagg

This female H'nemthe was stranded on Tatooine because of a dubious passage tax and was biding her time in the Mos Eisley cantina when Luke and Obi-Wan came in looking for a pilot. She has a razor-sharp tongue that is used in a deadly mating ritual.

Named after a blossoming white nightlily flower found in space, M’iiyoom Onith’s namesake certainly doesn’t match her extremely ugly and rugged appearance. But perhaps that’s the irony in what makes her extremely lovely as an action figure. Hasbro has been fantastic to collectors when it comes to Cantina aliens and their commitment of getting a couple of them out to us into the mainline each year is something we need to be thankful for because these are collector-focused figures for sure. For 2007, collectors warmly welcomed M’iiyoom Onith and Elis Helrot into the fold and most of us couldn’t be happier. M’iiyoom Onith is action figure design glory and she is a reason for you to get excited. M’iiyoom Onith is a female H’nemthe from the planet H’nemthe. She was given the opportunity to travel the universe looking for a mate and ran out of money doing so and got stranded in Mos Eisley spaceport. There she met Feltipern Trevagg whom she believed fell in love with her but he was just using her. But in the end it was M’iiyoom who had the last laugh as she used her razor-sharp tongue to murder Feltipern Trevagg (part of a mating ritual) and then started making her trek back home. An interesting fact is that she was the first female of her species to attempt mating with a non-H’nemthe species.

On the set of filming Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, M’iiyoom Onith was called “Yam Nose” which makes complete sense, although we think “Carrot Nose” is a little bit more accurate. Hasbro did a phenomenal job incorporating the costume in the film into an action figure. And it’s quite amazing how much detail they put into the figure’s portrait for something that was simply a latex mask in the film. M’iiyoom Onith has highly detailed features throughout her sculpt and this is incredibly enhanced with the very dark wash Hasbro gave the action figure. Her costume is simple in the fact that it looks like any other Tatooine inhabitant’s attire, but at the same time it looks refined. Her body type doesn’t lead you to believe that she is female, but she is. Her clothing looks unisex as well as her body type. She is a tad on the short side, but there are many short male characters in the Star Wars universe, so this doesn’t mean much at all. As an action figure, M’iiyoom has all the features you’ll need for a Chalmun’s Cantina diorama setup in your collection. She has plenty of articulation but she’ll serve your diorama best by just being in it. Her sculpt is superb and the paint application is even better.

But perhaps the thing that made collectors extremely excited about this action figure was the accessory included in it. Hasbro included the one piece of the curved section of the cantina bar. This elated fans as we have bee waiting for this since about 2004. While it connects well to the older cantina pieces, it ended up not functioning as many collectors had originally thought. But with some finagling, you’ll be able to make it work well in your own dioramas. M’iiyoom Onith comes with a bar glass and a blaster pistol that can be put away in the functioning holster on her side. She comes with 12 points of articulation but her skirt severely limits her hip articulation. But this is something we have to come to accept if we want molded lower portions for our action figures instead of soft-goods. She has a very somber look as an action figure. There isn’t any color on her and between her gray skin and her gray clothing, she does look rather drab. But maybe that is part of her plan, to slide under the radar, grab a mate and then kill him. That seems dramatic, but the only drama you should encounter with the M’iiyoom Onith action figure is pure excitement because this is one action figure that you do not want to miss!
