Pre Vizsla is governor of Concordia, the moon orbiting Mandalore. Vizsla appears to support peace and criticizes the Death Watch, a violent group of Mandalorians who want to return to their warrior past. But when Obi-Wan discovers that Vizsla is actually the leader of the Death Watch, the governor tries to silence the Jedi in a duel – darksaber to lightsaber.

It is quite amazing the level of detail and the amount and type of articulation Hasbro is including in their basic figures for The Clone Wars line. And with each line look change, the figures get more and more impressive and even more likeable. Hasbro has managed to increase momentum with this line year after year and even if collectors don’t know much about the characters they see hanging on the pegs, they still buy them because of the awesome quality Hasbro puts forth. The first wave in the “Shadow Of The Dark Side” line look doesn’t contain that many new figures, but the new figures it does have are great introductions to the third stage of the line. They are all filled with incredible detail and have an unprecedented amount of articulation, especially for a line that is geared towards kids. Hasbro seems to be going above and beyond to pull collectors (or purists of the films) into this line, because we have to admit that The Clone Wars line is certainly doing its part to engage those who may have looked away otherwise. Pre Vizsla is a perfect example of this. Choosing basically any Mandalorian to make into an action figure is pretty much a safe bet that it will be a hot action figure. But Pre Vizsla raises the standard so far beyond what we have already seen thus far in the line, that it actually concerns us that Hasbro won’t be able to make a better action figure sometime in the future. This action figure will absolutely wow the socks off of you because not only is it one of the coolest quasi-Boba Fett figures we have ever seen, it is probably “up there” on the list of the best action figures ever made by Hasbro. With a mixed media of materials used to make him, Pre Vizsla will stand out and shine in your already huge action figure collection.

Pre Vizsla has 14 points of articulation, but Hasbro was gracious enough to include ball-jointed hips here. And it is amazing what the inclusion of these joints has done for this action figure. He can attain essentially ANY position you want and this is quite an amazing feat for a figure that is included in a kids’ line. Pre Vizsla could almost pass for a “shadow” version of Jango Fett, but instead of a darker skinned clone under the helmet, you will find a lighter skinned human who has a striking resemblance to an actor that we fail to recall at the moment. This actually isn’t a cut down at all, because Hasbro has faithfully replicated his likeness to the character in the television series, but it’s just the way this character looks. His dirty blond hair really doesn’t fit well with his personality, but it is what it is and makes him quite unique if anything else. But his attitude comes into play quite well with his very cool weaponry. Pre Vizsla comes with two blaster pistols, a jetpack, and removable helmet (which in incredibly decorated), a removable cape and an awesome sword. He manages to hold all of his accessories very well in his hands, but the backpack on our sample has a loose connection and gets bumped off very easily. His soft-goods cape is actually our favorite part. Not only does it frappe beautifully off of one shoulder thanks to Hasbro’s clever stitching, but is has a multicolored striped pattern with a logo screened on it. It is one of the nicest soft-goods accessories we have seen in a long time in the Star Wars line. Hasbro deserves credit here for making this look so awesome. And of course he comes with a die, action figure stand and bio/stats card if you are interested in playing that game.

Pre Vizsla’s armor/outfit is very, very dark gray. In fact, it is just a few shades away from being black. But it is enhanced with dark blue, cobalt blue striping and subtle hints of burgundy in specific places in the uniform. It is such a cool color scheme for this character and we absolutely adore it. Because of all of his removable parts and accessories, you have great versatility with him to configure him in about any way you wish. We love having this many options with an action figure and we hope that Hasbro applies this style more to figures included in the realistic-style lines. Yes, we do get some options like the 2009 Legacy Collection Plo Koon (BD45) and others, but they don’t have this many ways to make them new and exciting. It is truly an enhancement to the play features. As with so many other characters in The Clone Wars, Pre Vizsla is essentially a very skinny warrior and tactician. And amazingly, he doesn’t look distorted. This figure really does impress as a whole package and it is an absolute wise choice for your collection. Should you decide to display him with his helmet on, we believe that this may just be the coolest way to pose Pre Vizsla in your action figure collection. There is so much mystery and intrigue with his dark armor and helmet and if you watch The Clone Wars, you just know what this character is capable of doing in the Star Wars universe. But Pre Vizsla will also serve the same purpose in your collection at home. This action figure is another one of Hasbro’s finest works and he is really only the beginning of what we can expect to receive from Hasbro in The Clone Wars line. This should make collectors very happy. Between him and the awesome and new Aurra Sing, Hasbro is proving early on that fans, kids and collectors will have good reasons to develop and refreshed and excitingly new interest in The Clone Wars series, and we suspect much of that attention will be focused directly at the toy line.
