Garindan is a Kubaz spy who works for the highest bidder. This long-snooted informant shadows Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi as they make their way from the Mos Eisley cantina to Docking Bay 94, after hiring Han Solo to transport them to the planet Alderaan. The dark cloaked snitch uses his comlink to call the Imperial authorities, and directs a squad of desert Stormtroopers to the fugitives.

Why is this figure called Garindan (Mos Eisley Cantina)? Garindan wasn’t in the Mos Eisley cantina as far as watchers of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope are concerned? We only see him walking around the streets of the seedy spaceport, alerting the Galactic Empire to our heroes whereabouts. Regardless, Garindan isn’t a character that gets a whole lot of love in the Hasbro Star Wars toy line. And admittedly, how many versions do we need. Hasbro produced a Garindan [Long Snoot] figure in 1997’s The Power Of The Force “2” [Green/Freeze Frame] lineup and it came with a nonremovable cape and a comlink molded to its hand. A disappointment, collectors wanted to see more from the figure. Thankfully, with the Garindan (Mos Eisley Cantina) 12 Inch Figure, the 3.75” figure’s sins are forgiven with a complete soft-goods outfit, a removable cloak, and a separate comlink accessory. By the time we reached the Star Wars [Saga - Phase III] line, 12 Inch Figures had come around the bend with new life and updated approaches. Because of this, Garindan (Mos Eisley Cantina) is a far cry from the figures in the Collector Series or Action Collection lines from years beforehand. With an update buck including more articulation, a stunning portrait with details we didn’t know were present, Hasbro’s Garindan (Mos Eisley Cantina) figure is a highlight of the entire Hasbro Star Wars line.
