Celebrate the legacy of Star Wars, the action-and-adventure-packed space saga from a galaxy far, far away, with this collection of premium, highly-detailed 3.75-inch scale figures and vehicles. (Each sold separately. Subject to availability.)

Well, this is another “messed-up” figure in The Vintage Collection line. We’re not sure what went wrong, but the 22nd wave of The Vintage Collection has not panned out too well for collectors. Sure, there are some highly-anticipated figures in this wave including the all-new Death Star Gunner (VC147) figure and Luke Skywalker (Crait) (VC146), but the final products aren’t perfect and have collectors wanting more from them. Luke Skywalker (Crait) is a disappointment, but you'll have to determine how significant that is to you. Hasbro showed a relatively flawless version of this action figure in official press images. Yes, they hand-painted those samples, so they look as close to perfect as possible, but the final product doesn’t come close to mimicking the prototype shown at various conventions. The “photorealistic” technology didn’t pan out all that well. The likeness doesn’t favor Mark Hamill at all. And once again, Hasbro entirely screws up the hair color of ANOTHER action figure release of Luke Skywalker. What’s up with the light blond hair featured on this action figure? In Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, Luke Skywalker has darker hair, but Hasbro went with a light color palette that doesn’t look right at all. The hair color by itself is enough for this figure to rank as a significant, but not complete, disappointment. Luke Skywalker (Crait) suffer from mediocre deco, and we truly thought we were well-beyond these issues now.

Luke Skywalker (Crait) possesses a beautiful sculpt. Hasbro faithfully recreated the controversial version of our galactic hero wonderfully. Luke Skywalker had three notable and distinct appearance in The Last Jedi, and this is the third and final version where he “confronts” Kylo Ren during the Battle of Crait. As we’ve mentioned, Luke Skywalker (Crait) has a fantastic sculpt. All of the necessary details are present, and the outfit he’s wearing, which is similar to Count Dooku’s from Attack Of The Clones, is meticulously executed. Interestingly, Hasbro tooled his outer robes in a way where they attach to the shoulders of the action figure. This approach means that the separately sculpted robes aren’t removable with sustaining damage to the figure. We’ve never seen anything like this technique applied to our Star Wars action figures before this (that we can recall), and we don’t feel it’s an ideal way of handling the additional layers of the costume. The robes are close-fitting and make the hyper-articulated body of this figure nearly useless. Luke Skywalker (Crait) has a very lean and straight drape and shape, but when you want to pose him in any significant way, you’re going to get frustrated by the figure’s lack of movement. We’re not sure why Hasbro tools this excellent super-articulated figures that makes them unable to be utilized.

Luke Skywalker (Crait) comes with only two accessories. They include a lightsaber hilt and a lit blue lightsaber. And frankly, that’s all this action figure needs. Many have commented already about giving this action figure one of the green lightsabers used in Return Of The Jedi. But we see either the blue lightsaber or the green lightsaber as equally viable options here. Although Luke Skywalker (Crait) doesn’t come with ball-jointed wrists, his wrists have been angled in a way that allows for optimal lightsaber posing. They swivel at the lower forearms instead of the wrists, and this truly helps when it comes to positioning the figure. Luke Skywalker (Crait) also comes with a ball-socket head and a reverse ball-socket neck. Typically, this articulation point would do a great deal of wonder for an action figure. But here things didn’t work out so well. The portrait is severely loose on the stem of the post, and the neck post prevents any upward or downward motion of the head sculpt. Hasbro should have thought these points through a little more clearly before implementing them. This is trivial for some, but we’re thrilled to see Hasbro give this version of Luke Skywalker a subtitle. Subtitles are incredibly necessary for figures in The Vintage Collection line. Luke Skywalker (Crait) is far from perfect. It has some good points about it, but overall we think collectors might feel unhappy about the final figure.
