Celebrate the legacy of Star Wars, the action-and-adventure-packed space saga from a galaxy far, far away, with this collection of premium, highly-detailed 3.75-inch scale figures and vehicles. (Each sold separately. Subject to availability.)

Slowly but surely and steadfastly, Hasbro is re-releasing every figure from the Walmart Exclusive The Black Series [Phase III] 3.75” super-articulated line into The Vintage Collection. Let’s face it. That is where all of these figures should have originated in the basic figure line, and The Vintage Collection should have never gone on hiatus either. Hasbro is now mending fences with the collecting community, but they’re still not doing it in the way that they should. The straight repacks from The Black Series [Phase III] line should come together in an exclusive case assortment (where no all-new figures exist). This approach would allow online retailers and brick and mortar retailers to order as they see fit for their clientele. New case assortments that contained figures with all-new tooling wouldn’t get blocked by the ones full of rehashed figures. The ratios need to be better. But until that happens, collectors will continue to struggle desperately trying to secure new Star Wars action figures in a sea of rehashes. While we were all eager to see Captain Phasma’s character in The Force Awakens, she ended being a dud in the film. And despite wearing silvery armor and possessing a tall stature and being female, it wasn’t enough to keep the interest in her alive. So, of course, Hasbro decided to add her into The Vintage Collection without any changes or enhancements. But why didn't they take this opportunity to update the figure per her appearance in The Last Jedi, with new weapons and a battle-damaged helmet revealing a portion of her face? It's evident that 3.75” super-articulated collectors do not reap the same benefits as 6” collectors. Nope. Not one bit.

Captain Phasma comes loaded with 27 points of articulation. And as an action figure, Captain Phasma is everything you’d expect her to be and perhaps more. Those who adore super-articulation are going to be impressed because it’s not too often that we get a figure that looks this great and she comes loaded with a lot of movement. We were excited for her in the Walmart exclusive line, but now she looks better than ever thanks to the beauty of The Vintage Collection packaging. It’s a bit gloomy to think that we get so few all-new 3.75” super-articulated Star Wars action figures in a calendar year now, but when the previously released figures get upgraded with The Vintage Collection packaging, it makes them look better than ever before, and forces many collectors to consider a repurchase. Captain Phasma is tall, but perhaps not as lean as she should be as an action figure. She certainly doesn’t look nearly as chunky as her 6” counterpart, but it feels as if some trimming down would have been helpful here. The articulation that Hasbro gave this figure is functional. Aside from a ball-socket head, Captain Phasma comes with completely insert-molded ball-jointed articulation. This articulation system allows for optimal and incredible movement. You can pose her running, scampering, leaning or strutting into battle, and this action figure allows you to do this with open arms. Her paint job could use a little work because she should be shinier than she is. But Hasbro expressed to us that they’re not pursuing vac-metallization paint jobs because of the environment.

Although Captain Phasma is not glistening in mirror-like silver, she does look good enough for the action figure line. Hopefully, it will be good enough for you too. Captain Phasma comes with a removable cape and a First Order captain’s blaster. Captain Phasma’s cape is pliable and soft. It also is a completely different sculpt from the 5POA articulated versions released in the past as well. The cape fits the figure like a glove, yet doesn’t inhibit the articulation either. Hasbro strategically sculpted and positioned the accessory in a way that best interacts with the figure. We should count ourselves blessed for this. Also included is a blaster rifle which she can hold very well and you can store in on her right thigh armor when not in use if you so desire. What’s nice to see is when you have Captain Phasma posed with both arms holding onto the blaster. The flexibility of this figure was painfully not a possibility with the Build A Weapon figure released in The Force Awakens line. Overall, we couldn’t be more pleased with how the super-articulated Captain Phasma action figure has turned out. But was it necessary to see her re-released again in The Vintage Collection packaging, especially since the notoriety of the character fizzled over the few short years since the first two episodes of the Sequel Trilogy have come and gone? Admittedly, everything looks great to us in The Vintage Collection packaging. But it’s time to hold back on the characters from Disney Star Wars Entertainment at this point a little bit. Supreme Leader Snoke was an all-new sculpt for The Vintage Collection, and that is peg-rotting everywhere. People want to see pre-Disney characters more now.
