The public face of the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate, Dryden Vos is a contradiction: a pitiless enforcer known as a gangster of wealth and taste. His good manners shouldn't be mistaken for weakness, though: he can change from generous host to ruthless killer in a moment.

If you haven’t seen Solo: A Star Wars Story, you’ve missed an energetic tale that explains the origins of one of our most beloved Star Wars characters of all time: Han Solo. The film wasn’t perfect by any means, but it did have countless moments of action, humor, and just a smidge of an agenda easily overlooked by the greater number of positives than negatives. The main antagonist of the film, Dryden Vos, stood out from past Star Wars villains. The grisly markings on his face that change color dependent on emotion are often mistaken for scars. And impressively, Hasbro worked this character’s traits into the action figure beautifully. There’s more on that to follow. There is much unknown about Dryden Vos, but we do know he is a strong, manipulative and ruthless crime lord and you don’t know where his loyalties lie. He oversees the activity of the criminal organization called Crimson Dawn of which he is the leader. He has an affinity for materialism and surrounds himself with luxurious items. For lack of a better word, he’s a collector. We can all relate to him in this manner.

Hasbro’s The Black Series [Phase III] 6” figure of him has about as much going for it as against it. We don’t know why, but 6” collectors tend to overlook the lankiness that afflicts so many of the figures in this line. In many, Hasbro designs the legs (and sometimes the arms) too long, and it creates an aesthetic that makes the figure look disproportionate at times, perhaps even scree-inaccurate once in a while. The Dryden Vos 6” figure suffers from legs that are much too long. The disparity is especially transparent when you remove his cape. The figure has a minor “gourd on stilts” effect that is aesthetically displeasing to your eye. If you’re not as critical as we are, you might notice something is off, but might not be able to pinpoint it. But it’s his overly long legs causing his issues. Aside from this design error, you’re likely going to appreciate everything else Hasbro has done with Dryden Vos. The figure is beautifully sculpted. The portrait looks like the actor, and Hasbro added an action feature to the head sculpt that when you place it in the cold, the markings on his face turn from light brown to a deep red.

Dryden Vos comes with two accessories. The removable cape is one, and then he comes with two Kyuzo petars (which look like the knives that you slip your fingers through for support. We should also mention that the Kyuzo petars come with the “cold treatment” feature too. Dryden Vos interacts with his accessories well. Hasbro designed his hands to accommodate them perfectly. Dryden Vos’ paint job is stunning. We’re particularly taken with his hairstyle. Hasbro colored it “dirty” blonde, but also added some dashes of darker colors to give it a realistic vibe. The “photorealistic” technology applied to his facial features is nothing short of amazing. All of his features are precisely placed where they should be, and the likeness to the onscreen actor is uncanny. Like most other 6” figures, Dryden Vos has a wonderful articulation system. But this is the standard and no longer surprising to collectors of the line now. It will be interesting to see how many more characters Hasbro plans to produce from Solo: A Star Wars Story in the 6” line. There are many great characters in the film. We received a nice amount of them so far, but more would be appreciated.
