Deeply spiritual, Chirrut Îmwe believes all living things are connected through the force of others. His sightless eyes do not prevent him from being a highly skilled warrior. Though he lacks force abilities, this warrior monk has rigorously honed his body through intense physical and mental discipline.

Well, not everything can be consistent we presume. The headway that Disney made with the Elite Series Baze Malbus is sacrificed by the lack of success they made with Chirrut Îmwe. The unforgettable duo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story always either come together or closely follow each other in any line of figures. The same is true for the Elite Series line. And while Baze Malbus exceeded our expectations, Chirrut Îmwe didn’t reach the same level of authenticity. We believe it has mostly to do with his head sculpt. It’s poorly shaped and poorly painted, and while it is reminiscent of the character from Rogue One, it doesn’t favor him all that much. Chirrut Îmwe proves once again why most human characters don’t turn out well when they’re made from die-cast metal.

Where Chirrut Îmwe does succeed is in the costume. Disney tooled a wonderfully realistic outfit that captures the essence of the clothing we saw him wear in the film. It’s bright, colorful and layered and comes with plenty of detail that’s now captured in the 6” scaled Elite Series line. As with all figures in the Elite Series line, Chirrut Îmwe doesn’t come with all that much useful movement. But his lack of movement is a product of the cookie cutter articulation this format of figures has. He can attain a few interesting positions, but the figure lacks a full range of movement which is needed for action figures of this size. The ball-socket hips give the greatest range of motion. By comparison, the hinge-jointed elbows and knees inhibit motion to the point that they’re almost useless.

Chirrut Îmwe comes with a beautifully tooled bowcaster. It doesn’t come with the full functionality seen in the film. But he can hold it in his right hand rather effortlessly. Disney added an incredible amount of detail into the complex design of his bowcaster. Collectors of the line are going to be impressed with what Disney did to make his weapon. The accessory is loaded with lots of colors. Chirrut Îmwe’s costume is nicely colored too and contains multiple details like insignias and the like all nicely applied. Chirrut Îmwe is perfectly to scale with Baze Malbus and they look great together as a duo in all honesty. It feels like you cannot have one without the other, even though Baze Malbus turned out remarkably better. All Elite Series figures come with an oblong Star Wars display base. It’s a nice addition, but very repetitive.
