It’s safe to assume that anything Hot Toys makes is going to be a stellar product, but we believe they went above the call of duty with the Luke Skywalker [Jedi Knight] Movie Masterpiece Series figure. Wow. What a brilliant interpretation of Luke Skywalker as he appeared in Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi. We all know that the bucks Hot Toys uses to make their figures are some of the finest specimens on the planet. But when they add the magic of stunning portraits, exquisite costuming and intense detail to screen-accuracy, the final product can often be overwhelming. That’s about where we’re at with this figure. It’s not often that a Star Wars collectible leaves us speechless, but this one has. The only negative we find is the MSRP, not because it isn’t a fair price. It is. But when any MSRP reaches a certain level, it alienates a huge market altogether. These Star Wars fans are going to miss out on one of the finest Episode VI Luke Skywalker figures we have ever seen. That isn’t hyperbole. We’re completely stunned by this release and are so thankful that Hot Toys put so much time and energy into this one-sixth scale figure. There is so much to enjoy here, so let’s get down to business.

The likeness of the Luke Skywalker [Jedi Knight] is beautiful. We don’t believe we have come across a one-sixth scale figure with detail to actor Mark Hamill like this one. From every angle, it’s a dead ringer for the onscreen character, and this is no small feat. The eyes especially remind you of the actor, and the hairstyle, skin complexion and facial structure bring it all home. His hair color is about as perfect as we could have imagined. Some licensees go way too blond while others go way too brown. It’s somewhere in the middle, and Hot Toys nailed it perfectly. They also added some shimmery highlights to the hair, which give it a lifelike appearance. The figure's hair attaches to its head via a magnet. Of course, the figure looks odd if the hair shifts at all, so you should be careful when posing yours. The costume is skintight and fitted perfectly to his frame. It’s layered as it should be and includes a black jumpsuit, vest, cummerbund, vest, and cape (our sample is missing the cape at the moment) and belt. You can configure Luke Skywalker [Jedi Knight] as seen in every last scene in Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi. The figure looks amazing in all of these variations, a testament that Hot Toys knows what they’re doing.

Luke Skywalker [Jedi Knight] is loaded with accessories too. The most notable inclusion is the lightsaber. Not only is a chromed lightsaber hilt included, but it comes with two interchangeable blades. The first blade is standard. But the second blade is widened and triangular to recreate the illusion of movement or the swinging of the lightsaber. It works better than expected. There is also an arm attachment which includes a battery compartment to give the lightsaber blade illuminations for darker displays. As usual, Hot Toys has included an array of various hand attachments, all relevant for the included accessories. They also included the skiff guard blaster from Jabba’s palace. And of course,, Hot Toys provided the necessary hand attachments so Luke Skywalker [Jedi Knight] can hold it. The display base is another nice complement to the figure. Hot Toys included three options for it: a sand terrain, Jabba’s palace floor terrain and then a Death Star II terrain. When you set up the Death Star II display, you also have the option of adding a backer to the stand which includes columns and piping seen in the climactic duel with Darth Vader. Luke Skywalker [Jedi Knight] has it all. For us, this is a figure that shouldn’t be missed.
