Count Dooku - TSC - The Episode III Greatest Battles Collection (4 of 14)

Count Dooku is the leader of the Separatist movement. A renegade Jedi, Dooku has torn apart the galaxy with his plan to bring down the Republic. He is known as Darth Tyranus, a Dark Lord of the Sith.

The Revenge Of The Sith line contained some surprises for collectors. They really elevated the quality of the action figures they approached, and truly focused on the collectability of them. Take for instance Count Dooku. The figure exceeded collectors’ expectations on many levels, so it makes sense why it has now been carried forward in The Saga Collection’s The Episode III Greatest Battles Collection. This quasi “greatest hits” line is a chance for Star Wars action figure buyers to get these great action figures as well as keep some of their bets efforts at retail. Count Dooku comes perfectly accessorized with a soft-goods cape in addition to his signature lightsaber. He also comes with an environmental display stand which adds depth and dimension to these awesome action figures. Count Dooku is absolutely an action figure that you’ll be proud to own in your collection. And quite honestly, between the excellent portrait and the scene-specific hand gestures, we’re not so sure what else we would have asked for to make this action figure more to our individual tastes (aside from more leg movement which is inhibited by his skirt). What's more, you can remove his head and hands just like Anakin does thanks to a cross sweeping with his lightsaber and Count Dooku's lightsaber. Count Dooku is definitely one of the crowning achievements in the Revenge Of The Sith basic figure line.

If we had to find something to complain about, we’d probably focus on the fact that Count Dooku comes with a swivel neck. But you’ll miss out on the great things Count Dooku brings if you focus on the negative. His articulation is quality. Count Dooku comes with ball-jointed elbows and ball-jointed knees. And the incorporation of swivel forearms and with the rest of the upper arms articulated with ball-joints provides him with the perfect range of movement for what is needed in a Count Dooku figure. We’ve mentioned the head sculpt already. Well, it’s honestly fantastic. The sculptors who were involved with many of the collector-focused figures in this line have developed some impressive sculpts. But what is most impressive is the evolution in between the 2002-2004 Star Wars “Saga” line and the Revenge Of The Sith line that took place when it comes to figure’s likenesses. A new and higher standard of action figure making has been enacted and collectors of the Revenge Of The Sith line are the first recipients of this goodness. From the crow’s feet surrounding his aged eyes to the flawless replication of his hairline, Hasbro has proven with this figure that they mean business and are adamant about bringing us the best action figures possible. Not all figures can reap the benefits of this wonderful treatment, but we’re thankful that Count Dooku was one of the lucky ones.

As Hasbro continues to improve the amount of articulation and increase the authenticity of likenesses in The Saga Collection line, it’s great to know that there are older figures that fit in perfectly with the figures technology is treating well today. Hasbro has been upping the articulation and the attention to detail on great characters in The Saga Collection, but the Revenge Of The Sith figures including Saesee Tiin (III 30), Shaak Ti (III 21) and Luminara Unduli (III 31) are all worthy of your consideration and fit in equally as well. A figure like Count Dooku is definitely geared towards collectors, but there is no way kids aren’t going to be interested in this figure too and want him for their collections as well. He’s a main character and since he isn’t part of The Saga Collection main basic figure line, so it’s great to see him offered through this different way instead. The figure brings so much to the table that it’s almost as if Count Dooku had been planned for universal appeal. Obviously collectors will be most appreciative of the achievements was with this figure, but there is no reason why collectors of all ages with find this figure appealing. Hopefully Hasbro will continue this trend of adding more premium articulation like this into future action figures. Count Dooku really only scratches the surface of what can be accomplished in the basic action figure line, but he’s a great start for Hasbro entering the world of super-articulation with all of their basic action figures.
