All different types of Astromech droids populate the Star Wars galaxy. Each droid is different and has their own unique personality and colors. This devious Astromech is a space pirate that can often be found on the planet Takodana. Join R2-BOO on his adventure throughout the galaxy.

May the Force be with you... and your Droids!

Boo! Did we scare you? If we didn’t scare you, then hopefully R2-BOO will. Collectors can now add R2-BOO to their collection. This Halloween holiday-themed astromech droid is just one of many Disney Droid Factory figures that have entered their theme parks for the last couple of years now. Never big fans of mixing the holidays with Star Wars, Disney makes these droids unique and interchangeable enough that you really don’t have to look at them as holiday specific astromech droids. But usually the coloring is specific enough to make that a slightly difficult task. R2-BOO certainly looks like a hybrid of all the great things that make up Halloween. Obviously this droid’s silhouette is unmistakably “Star Wars” but we swear it looks just like the seasonal department at TARGET or Walmart all in one spot. R2-BOO isn’t meant to be a serious Star Wars character. This figure is just a fun way to celebrate the various holidays throughout the year.

R2-BOO has a ridiculous name, but there is no way we can deny it has an awesome look. Primarily black, the droid is loaded with flashes of orange, green and purple which tie in all of the wonderfully colored themes of Halloween. R2-BOO is actually a simply decorated action figure. And has been painted very nicely. Sure, this droid is brightly accented and has colorful and contrasting colors to make it pop, but there aren’t any fancy patterns or details utilized here. Ultimately, the astromech droid is made to look a whole lot more complex than it actually is. This is actually a compliment. R2-BOO may not have the cheeriness of R2-H15, but it is equally as beautiful in our opinion. While you don’t associate sentimentality and glad tidings with Halloween, R2-BOO has its own unique charm that perhaps creates just as much joy for the recipient. While its sculpt is nothing out of the ordinary because it utilizes the standard Disney R2-series Droid Factory mold, R2-BOO is made to look impressive because of the way it has been painted, albeit imperfectly in spots.

We’re quite surprised that Disney didn’t tool a witch’s hat for this droid. It seems like it would be the perfect accent to a very spooky looking astromech droid, but we’re fine without it. We’re not big fans of accessorizing astromech droids, we’re just surprised Disney didn’t include that option with R2-BOO. Typically, we don’t display any of our astromech droids with those silly hats. It’s just a personal thing and you may certainly feel differently about that. We hope that Disney keeps pumping out these cool Droid Factory astromech droids. We’re aware that they’re not everyone’s bag. The foot wires are missing and the paint applications can be messy at times, but Disney is pumping out more of these units than Hasbro ever has or will. It would be fantastic is Disney started turning to the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy and made gift sets from all of the films. We think that would make a ton of collectors happy. But for now we’ll all just have to do with the periodic releases and yearly multipacks Disney is already producing for their theme parks. Be sure to grab R2-BOO. It is a cool droid.
