A vigilant law officer on a mostly lawless world, the tough and humorless Constable Zuvio keeps order in a frontier trading post.

He must be a rather important character in The Force Awakens, because Constable Zuvio has been made for both The Force Awakens 3.75” line as well as The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line. We imagine that he likely will be on tap for the Walmart exclusive The Black Series [Phase III] 3.75” line as well. We also don’t know anything about him, although he seems to sport remnants of Boba Fett’s armor and by his name it may be safe to assume that he maintains some order on the planet which he resides. Admittedly, The Force Awakens Build A Weapon figure didn’t pique the interest of many collectors and he ended up becoming more of an obligatory purchase. But when The Black Series [Phase III] 6” version became available a whole new respect for the character developed. Without any surprise, the 6” figure is light years ahead of its 3.75” counterparts (with only five points of articulation). Not only do you see more on a larger scale, Hasbro gives the 6” line a wealth of paint operations that are just shorted on the smaller “kid friendly” scale.

Constable Zuvio has an oddly shaped humanoid alien head. He looks vaguely familiar as one of our own, but upon careful inspection you’ll discover that it would be physically impossible for him to be a human, even a deformed one. Eagle-eyed Star Wars fans noticed almost immediately, but Constable Zuvio seems to borrow portions of the armor from Boba Fett to adorn his costume. Whether this is just a powerful coincidence or not, The Black Series [Phase III] 6” version makes this even more poignant. His outfit also seemingly borrows elements from some of the other popular characters in the Star Wars saga. We can’t help see similarities between Constable Zuvio and Embo (but that’s mostly because of the hat). And we also see some similar outfit designs as many of the Mos Eisley inhabitants crowding the bustling streets from A New Hope. Clearly Star Wars has inspired the concept of how the final version of Constable Zuvio would look for The Force Awakens. Again, these details and nuances are much easier to appreciate on the larger 6” scaled figure.

Constable Zuvio comes with two accessories, just like its Build A Weapon counterpart. The first, a staff, is beautifully sculpted and and painted. You can really appreciate the amount of tooling that went into it. Hopefully we’ll learn in Episode VII how it’s capabale of protecting Constable Zuvio. We’re extremely impressed however with the removable backpack. It’s a little dirty, but it’s also very shiny silver. And it’s more metallic in appearance than the armor of the Captain Phasma 6” figure. So again, we’re al little bit frustrated why Hasbro can’t get chrome right in the 6” scale figure line, even if they’re unable to vac-metallize it (which completely escapes us as to why). When full accessorized, Constable Zuvio looks even cooler and we bet than many collectors will be warming up to this character just like we have. We’re very interested in his role in Episode VII. And at this point we’ll be very disappointed if he’s just another character that briskly passes us by after a line like so many Star Wars characters are guilty of doing. At least we’ll have the action figure to appreciate long after the film.
