Commander Bacara, also known by the numerical designation 1138, was a clone commander who worked alongside General Ki-Adi-Mundi against Separatist droid armies on the Outer Rim planet Mygeeto. Though he fought alongside the Jedi in numerous battles, Bacara's ultimate loyalty was to the Republic and its Supreme Chancellor. When Palpatine contacted him personally and executed Order 66, Bacara carried out the command without question. He and his fellow Galactic Marines opened fire on Ki-Adi-Mundi, killing their general.

Do Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 Scale Figures get better with each release because Sideshow keeps outdoing themselves, or is it because the characters are so cool and wanting them for a long time and waiting in anticipation actually influencing what our eyes are actually seeing? Does it even matter? Sideshow Collectibles has truly ridden out the learning curve out on their 1:6 Scale Figures line and have mastered their craft with impressive results. Commander Bacara is only the latest success in their extraordinarily large high-end 1:6 Scale Figures line. No longer referred to as "12 Inch figures" anymore, the 1:6 Scale Figures label is indeed a more appropriate reference or name to these figures because of their limited availability, being a primarily direct to market product and the alienation of most Star Wars collectors due to their very high prices. But all of that aside, if you can incorporate some of these collectibles into your Star Wars collection, they will absolutely become the focal point of it because they are just simply the most gorgeous collectibles around. Not boring like a Mini Bust can be and triple the articulation of a Hasbro figure, the 1:6 Scale Figures line is gaining some notoriety amongst people who never have considered the line before strictly due to the fact that they are unequaled in their awesomeness.

Just like their Commander Cody (212th Attack Battalion) 1:6 Scale Figure, Commander Bacara has unique armor pieces so Sideshow’s sculptors needed to design them from the ground up to work with a 1:6 Scale interpretation of him. And they did it with flying colors. They designed an all-new head sculpt with additional armor pieces on the sides. And for the first time they seem to have completely mastered how to attach an antenna to a helmet. Slightly pliable and authentically thin, it may be the most favorite aspect of this figure, so that should be a testament to how well Sideshow can produce this detail in this scale today. His shoulder pauldron and kama are both crafted from soft-goods. The approach worked very well here and we are extremely happy that Sideshow Collectibles is able to include various mixed media on the figures in the 1:6 Scale line with such positive results. The fabric body glove keeps the armor in place as it has over the last couple of years and the interchangeable hands and feet, although overwhelming, add a ton of extra versatility that you probably didn’t expect. Commander Bacara (21st Nova Corps) also comes outfitted with a DC-15 blaster rifle, DC-15 blaster and a DC-17 blaster pistol. And let’s not forget about the brilliant paint job Sideshow Collectibles have given to the armor. It’s full of scrapes, scratches and dirt and has a true world lived-in look.

With over 30 points of articulation it’s a great deal to manage properly, but Sideshow has mastered just how tight each joint needs to be to maximize the way a figure can get posed. Unfortunately on our sample of Commander Bacara, the joints are a little too loose on his left side and it’s something we can’t figure out. He has a bit of trouble holding up his left arm and lean against his left leg. But we don’t think this is the norm by any measure however. For exclusive collectors, the Sideshow Exclusive version comes with a 21st Nova Corps base that is white and contains details from Bacara’s armor incorporated into its design. Commander Bacara generated a great deal of interest amongst collectors and a total of 6000 pieces (exclusive and regular editions) have been manufactured, much higher than most 1:6 Scale Figures. This is a great sign that more and more collectors are focusing on Sideshow Collectibles and their brilliant products. The five main clone commanders are coming our way with record speed. We already have Commander Cody (212th Attack Battalion), Commander Bly (327th Star Corps) and Commander Gree (41st Elite Corps). Here is Commander Bacara (21st Nova Corps) and Commander Neyo has already been officially announced. It should only get better as we're offered the opportunity to build up their respective battalions.
