Now that we know that both Chirru Imwe and Baze Malbus are being made in solid case packs for The Black Series 6" line, it probably makes sense for Hasbro to do the same for Darth Revan, no?

Let's See More Environmental Pieces With The TBS6 Line Stat!

Posted by Paul | January 29, 2017 at 12:41 PM ET |

With all of the Episode VIII rumors ruining the internet out there, it's possible to believe that Snoke could have a larger role in the film. (Please don't comment about that here – it's actually irrelevant as Episode VII is . I mean, it's irrelevant.) Anyway, wouldn't it be cool, if you like this character of course, to see Hasbro give us a pretty neat 6" version of Snoke on his throne? Kmart has done some pretty cool The Black Series [Phase III] 6" exclusives where an environmental piece is included. And with JTA's Q&A with Hasbro at the 2016 NYCC Preview Party they confirmed that they are excited to do more of these things in the future. So Snoke on his throne sounds like a no-brainer choice to me!

UPDATE: BREAKING NEWS! The Black Series [Phase III] Wave 11 Revealed!

Posted by Paul | January 28, 2017 at 09:49 PM ET |

We've come across new information that there could be an important change made to the next case of TBS6 wave 11 figures we recently revealed. Director Krennic may get the ax after all. Click through to see what figure might take his place in the latest rumored change to the case assortment.

We're adding another Star Wars [The Phantom Menace 3D] Clone Wars Visual Guide tonight, this time Mace Windu (CW8). Click below for full details. We also have a full review of this figure right here.

Mace Windu (CW8) - SW [TPM 3D] - The Clone Wars

The final wave of Rogue One 3.75" figures has been cancelled.... from a certain point of view. The assortment isn't coming and retail will not be able to order the figures in this wave. However, three (3) figures will still be released (there might be another but we don't have confirmation on that now) and what we're hearing is that they'll arrive in solid case packs for online retailers and should have significant availability. The three figures include Raddus, Galen Erso and Lt. Sefla. Fenn Rau, the highly sought-after Mandalorian from Star Wars: Rebels is still in limbo. Hopefully that figure will join the same fate as these three.

JTA is proud to announce our second series of large format trading cards! This super-sized 40th Anniversary set will be handed out each day at Celebration Orlando this April. Details on when and where you can pick up Series 2 will be announced as we get closer to the event. This set follows our hugely popular Series 1 that we handed out last year at Celebration Europe. As always, attendees of the event can stop by and pick these up for free! Stay tuned for more details!

A TBS6 Running Change Princess Leia Organa Still Imminent?

Posted by Paul | January 28, 2017 at 11:03 AM ET |

Remember when we posted THIS RUMOR REPORT (about The Black Series [Phase III] Princess Leia Organa getting pulled from wave 9 so that Hasbro would be able to tweak it further)? Obviously that didn't come to pass as she was shipped "as is" in that case assortment. Honestly, we were perplexed and slightly disappointed that this rumor didn't pan out exactly as we had hoped. We wanted to not only be "right" with the rumor, but we wanted a revised figure more importantly. Well, something further has developed. So stop the press once again! We have learned that this original JTA rumor report still holds water. We've learned that a running change is still in the works and we should expect a new head sculpt with slimmer features and a beautiful likeness while looking a whole lot less cherubic. Will THIS come to pass? Or is it more hearsay? We will just have to wait and see....

Amortize That New 6" Emperor's Royal Guard Tooling!

Posted by Paul | January 28, 2017 at 07:38 AM ET |

Royal guards are red, Senate Guards are blue, Shadow Guards are black, "want them all" will you. It will be great to see what Hasbro will do with that smokin' hot 6" Emperor's Royal Guard sculpt, won't it?

Rapid Fire AT-ACT Hits $23.96 At TARGET (Over 92% Off!)

Posted by Paul | January 26, 2017 at 06:17 AM ET |

JTA Instagram user Cameron (what's Instagram?) tagged us to let us know that he found the Rapid Fire Imperial AT-ACT vehicle for a mere $23.96 at his local TARGET. We'd encourage Hasbro to dust of the 2010 SW [SOTDS] BAT-AT for if and when they attempt another vehicle like this. Kids aren't buying vehicles, collectors are. And we don't want smart phone apps because so many (not me) only have basic flip phones. But hopefully you catch the point. Hope that helps. Then again, I am sure we will be told this was a success at retail too.

Raiding An Old Sculpt, Or Generously Providing Us With A New One?

Posted by Paul | January 24, 2017 at 01:03 PM ET |

You probably saw a rumor at a terrible site that rhymes with ManthaSkull.com recently about four possible new (read that as 'repacked" for the moment) 3.75" The Black Series [Phase III] figures. One of the ones "rumored" was a Tusken Raider. Do you think that if this far-fetched rumor "is" true that Hasbro will go "cheap" and re-release the 2006 VTSC Sand People sculpt, or do you think that they'll actually scale down the beautiful 6" version coming to the line in the next wave which will be available later this year?

Will The Weight Be Lifted For The 40th Anniversary Of Star Wars?

Posted by Paul | January 20, 2017 at 09:23 PM ET |

I believe collectors have been really weighed down with the last couple of years of Hasbro offerings. There wasn't a significant focus on the Original Trilogy (but instead on The Force Awakens) and 3.75" action figures (collector-focused) were last on Hasbro's agenda. It's like being forced to like heavy metal when you're into pop music. They always seem to be looking for other formats, don't they? Could this year be a turnaround of sorts? They've definitely been making some collector-friendly items, like the Titanium Series helmets. Who knows how far they'll take that in the future. Let's just hope that it somehow is a respectful nod to Star Wars' incredible landmark.

12 Backs Are Cool In Any Size

Posted by Paul | January 20, 2017 at 09:05 PM ET |

Isn't it interesting that after 22 years running the modern line that Hasbro has never produced a Death Squad Commander update? No matter how many times we have explained the differences to Hasbro about the gray outfit and the helmet with the phone cord hanging from it, they still make the generic all-black outfitted Star Destroyer Commanders again and again. Will the 40th anniversary celebration of Star Wars make them pay attention a little bit more closely? We need that figure in BOTH scales. Also, remember when The Black Series [Phase II] Jawas were announced? So many people thought they were too big to be 3.75". Then once people realized they were 3.75" they immediately began asking where the 6" version was. Yeah, well....

REPOST: 2017 Must Look And Feel Like The Vintage Kenner Era

Posted by Paul | January 20, 2017 at 11:32 AM ET |

It goes without saying that if The Vintage Collection doesn’t make its deserved return by May 2017 that Hasbro has totally lost touch with the adult and longtime collecting community. This is the ONLY time to bring it back. The Force Awakens isn't the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. The new Expanded Universe is not the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. It's all about the Original Trilogy (the point from which anything starts is what defines an anniversary) and this is our only moment in time to embrace and celebrate it! Newbie collectors won’t care so much as they can’t see too much beyond the 6” line (which is fine). So, we decided to join their company in order to make some suggestions for Hasbro's The Black Series 6” line. This hopefully will placate everyone. Granted, if this isn’t your scale, you’re not going to care too much about this post (probably). But we think some suggestions from longtime collectors might help Hasbro to engage a fledgling community of collectors that they're losing exponentially. Here is what we want to see from The Black Series 6" line for the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. Click through for more!

REPOST: Yes, we have received your many emails with links to news that we're forbidden to post. We apparently live in a "mind your manners" hobby at the moment and freedom of the press doesn't apply to all media outlets, especially with Star Wars collecting sites. Despite this, we'd rather direct your attention to this very popular article we did back in November. It should remind you of some clues that were first presented here of what 2017 could be about very soon.

The Star Wars Classic coin collection from New Zealand Mint now features six classic characters (with more to follow) but, due to high demand for some of the most beloved character coins, there is now very little stock and no more available.

Each coin has a restriction in the number that can be produced worldwide, called ‘Mintage’. These coins are therefore all limited editions, as legally no more of the same coin can be produced once the mintage number has been met. Click through for more details!

How About An Ultimate Boxed Set Of The Finest 6" Trooper Figures?

Posted by Paul | January 18, 2017 at 09:48 PM ET |

Wouldn't it be one of the most ultimate things if there was a multipack put together of some of Hasbro's best Star Wars troopers combined all in one set? It would be the perfect way to army build some of their finest 6" figures. They should consider bringing these characters together into one boxed set or something. We're sure there are plenty of online retailers that would jump on this.

A Team Any Star Wars Fan Can Get Behind!

Posted by Paul | January 18, 2017 at 11:44 AM ET |

3. 7. 5. Hike! I am trying to put together a fantasy footsketball team for a theoretical World Series. (See Bantha Skull – even I know how to talk sports!) Besides, that's all you do since you stopped reporting on Star Wars collecting. I digress.) Would a team made up of a female X-wing Pilot from Rogue One, Snoke, Luke Skywalker from The Force Awakens and a Red Guard be a good combination or a winning team? This exclusive lineup seems to be a win for me so I guess the answer is yes.

Some Cold Weather Advice For Obi-Wan Kenobi

Posted by Paul | January 17, 2017 at 08:21 PM ET |

If Obi-Wan Kenobi stays out too long on Hoth's icy tundra directing Luke Skywalker's path, he might put himself at risk of catching a cold. Force spirits/apparitions are at risk for illness too, right? You may have to go to your local pharmacy to get him an elixir or Star Wars The Black Series 6" figure to make him feel better! But don't take our advice for it.

Every Item From TBS [P1] And TBS [P2] Archived In RDRs/VGs

Posted by Paul | January 15, 2017 at 09:07 AM ET |

It took some time to reach the end, but we have officially completed archiving every last product from the The Black Series [Phase I] and The Black Series [Phase II] in our RDRs, VGs, and/or both. And to "celebrate" we've updated the archival pages and many of the reviews. The Black Series [Phase I] released a total of 44 individually released items (45 if that AT-RT Driver (#30) figure ever gets released) and The Black Series [Phase II] released a total of 46 packaged items. Both phases were released from 2013 through 2015 (save for that 2016 release of the Republic Trooper) and featured the last few 3.75" basic figures that weren't retailer exclusives. Visual Guides can be found at these links: TBS [P1] and TBS [P2]. Banners below will take you to the Research Droids Reviews.

Hasbro thought a great idea for an exclusive would be the Cantina Showdown when single-packed Han Solo and Greedo figures were swarming the shelves. It's not for sale online yet, but thanks to JTA reader Mark for locating the listing page on Walmart.com so you can keep an eye on it.

Remember these things? They were called Titanium Series Die Cast Metal figures and they were surprisingly popular during the 30 (77-07) era. Anyway, you might want to familiarize yourself with them again. They are easily found on the aftermarket, except for the super-rare Jango Fett (of which VERY FEW ever made it out). These figures make nice collectibles, no? There are so many characters Hasbro could do, like Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi for example. I sure "hope" one day these might be a reality again.

Spacewalls Custom Diorama Backdrops For 3.75" Figures

Posted by Chuck | January 06, 2017 at 08:20 PM ET |

If you haven't seen these yet, be sure to check out Galactic Trading Post's custom 3.75" Spacewalls, now listed on Amazon. These will make amazing backdrops for your displays, and 1:6 scale is coming as early as March. These were available just a few hours ago but now listed as unavailable. Look for them to be back in stock soon.

(Because it seems to be working for 6"collectors!) Hasbro has made it clear through various Q&As and interviews that a big part of the reason the super-articulated line had to be relegated to a store exclusive is because the line couldn't sustain itself. A higher MSRP would be needed to keep it a main line item. So, instead of retiring it, they decided instead to partner with Walmart. Keeping it at one place with the higher MSRP was somehow more cost effective than keeping it a main line item. That's paraphrased, but pretty much the gist. (more....)

Local Kmart Unwittingly Selling Bootleg The Black Series 6" Figures

Posted by Paul | January 05, 2017 at 10:21 PM ET |

JTA reader Andrew G. has found MULTIPLE bootleg The Black Series [Phase III] 6" figures at his local Kmart. It seems that the same people that have painted these bootlegs are the same people who paint Hasbro's figures. Click through for his story. How are these three figures bootlegs? Shouldn't they be spending time bootlegging R2-D2 and Darth Maul instead?

Amazon Is The Next Retailer To Give Up On The AT-ACT

Amazon is the next retailer to give up on the AT-ACT. It's unbelievable that this thing has had about 15 minutes at retail before going belly up.

"New" TBS Princess Leia Organa (Hoth Outfit) 3.75" Figure Coming?

Posted by Paul | January 05, 2017 at 05:34 PM ET |

This is TOTAL SPECULATION on our part, but could there be perhaps a "NEW" Princess Leia Organa (Hoth Outfit) in 3.75" scale coming in The Black Series line? This seemingly kit-bashed figure looks to be cobbled together from three previously existing Star Wars (Leia and Toryn Farr) figures. Check it out! Special thanks to JTA reader Derek H. for the observant eye!

They'll Say Anything To Get Rid Of These Things....

Posted by Paul | January 05, 2017 at 05:14 PM ET |

JTA reader and friend Mario M. sends an image of a fantastic deal he received on the successful The Black Series [Phase III] First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter. Apparently this store was so desperate to get rid of it they made up a "damaged box" special and marked it super low. Check out the image. Mario also let me know that he had a $10 TRU Reward certificate so the final out of pocket was really cheap

According to Variety, Woody Harrelson is in early talks to join the upcoming Han Solo standalone film as Han's mentor. Apparently Harrelson is the top choice for the role and the executives at Lucasfilm want a recognizable actor to play Han's mentor. Although I'm not very excited about the Han Solo film, Harrelson is certainly an intriguing addition to the cast. Let us know what you think about the addition of Han's mentor and Harrelson's potential involvement in the comments section.

Visual Guide Update - Bodhi Rook - Rogue One (Basic Figures)

You read our review from earlier today, now have a look at our Visual Guide of Bodhi Rook from Hasbro's Rogue One line. Click below for the full details.

Bodhi Rook - Rogue One - Basic Figures

Prior to their tragic passing, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds completed a documentary that chronicled their unique relationship and life together. Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds will premiere January 7th at 8:00pm on HBO.  If the early reviews are any indication, Bright Lights is a fascinating and touching look at the relationship between mother and daughter. During this difficult time, please keep Billie Lourd, Todd Fisher, and the rest of their family in your thoughts. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through right now. Click here for the full story.

We have a cool sneak peek of the third wave of Rogue One figures for you! New Research Droids Reviews and Visual Guides begin tomorrow, but you can check out full photo galleries and collector notes right now! Don't forget to leave your own two cents in the comments in each review. This is a pretty fine wave of figures. Yes, some have the typical issues that Hasbro just can seem to remedy, but this group of figures was a clever arrangement of characters.

So This Person Steals The Figure But Forgets The Accessory?

Posted by Paul | January 03, 2017 at 08:28 PM ET |

JTA reader Steve, a relatively newer collector found this at his local Walmart and was perplexed over what he found. Stephen, this is the original 1983 Admiral Ackbar figure from the Return Of The Jedi line. Why this person would steal the 2016 Admiral Ackbar and leave the accessory behind is beyond me. Also, I am not sure if this thief got a deal. Didn't he lose money here?

Three TBS6 First Order Snowtrooper Variations

Posted by Paul | January 03, 2017 at 08:23 PM ET |

An unknown JTA reader sent us an alert that there are three First Order Snowtrooper variations. The two versions may not be news, but the third version was to us. He writes "There are a total of 3 variations in this figure.....the one to the far right the gun handle is all black, the middle one is black and white and the third of course is the other variation which is self explanatory........thanks guys I read your stuff everyday and am a big fan." Thanks anonymous reader!

Reports for the Imperial AT-ACT being found for the first time on clearance continue to pour in! JTA reader Agustin G. eagerly plops down $150 to take this baby home!

Entertainment Earth Astromech 6-Pack On Sale On Amazon For $47.95

Posted by Chuck | January 02, 2017 at 02:19 PM ET |

Amazon has the Entertainment Earth exclusive Astromech 6-pack listed for $47.95. It's listed by a 3rd party seller but includes Prime shipping. Not a bad price for this set.

Back in December 2015 – more than a year ago, JTA broke news that a new AT-ST vehicle and AT-ST Driver were coming. That rumor has also been proven true today with a store report posted on Instagram. Although found at Walmart, it is unknown if this release is exclusive to them or not. (It very well may be exclusive to Walmart since they sadly have exclusive rights to the 3.75" SA scale.)

Who would have thought? Now what about that AT-RT Driver? Check this all out and more in our Research Droids Reviews today.
