Posted by Paul | July 31, 2010 at 12:38 PM ET |

While on our weekend runs this morning we came across the beginning of some sort of kiosk where collectors will have the option to pre-order their collectible action figures. We found this at the Aramingo Avenue TRU in Philadelphia, which just so happens to be a store that corporate is remodeling to be completely up to date with the latest TRU styles. Will this be a new option for collectors to ensure they can get their hands on the product they desire? Click through to check this out. Right above it, but not included in our photo was a "COMING SOON!" sign. It should be interesting to see where this goes! Click through to check it out!

Posted by Joris | July 31, 2010 at 11:36 AM ET |

Just a little bit over a week ago we reported the sorry state of the Lars' Homestead to you and about the initiative that exists to save it.

And it seems the Force is with the plan! Mark Dermul, among others the "Trips to Tatooine" tour guide, happily reports that close to half of the budget necessary to restore the roof above the Lars' family heads has been collected in the meantime!

Of course that also means that more than half of the way still has to be gone. So ...

Hit the button below to discover everything about the "Save the Lars' Homestead" initiative and how you can make your own contribution!

Posted by Paul | July 30, 2010 at 12:40 AM ET |

Doesn't it upset you when a final figure turns out to be "close but no cigar"? The Clone Trooper Training Fatigues action figure from the 30 (77-07) line was exactly that and Research Droids Reviews makes it quite clear that Hasbro should take another stab at him to make him perfect. Review: Padmé Amidala - TAC - No. 56

Posted by Paul | July 29, 2010 at 12:35 AM ET |

Padmé Amidala is a character that unfortunately doesn't see too many releases in action figure form and Hasbro made up for that with this release. Research Droids Reviews discusses how this figure is technically two outfits in one and why it is one of the best Padmé Amidala action figures we have ever received, despite her minimal articulation. Review: Jango Fett - TAC - Basic (No. 57)

Posted by Paul | July 28, 2010 at 12:15 AM ET |

There are some action figures in the basic line that seem to just get overlooked. As a result, they become severely underrated. One figure that fits this bill is Jango Fett from the 30 (77-07) line. It is one of the best versions of him and despite selling very well with each release, collectors don't seem to clamor over him enough. Research Droids Reviews looks at this awesome figure (who also happens to be our VERY FIRST ENHANCED VISUAL GUIDE too) and hopes that more figures follow this unique format. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Don't forget we accept requests so e-mail us and be sure to vote in our poll at the bottom of the review with your opinion before leaving!

What Acts Of Subterfuge Will TRU And TARGET Employ?

Posted by Paul | July 27, 2010 at 08:53 PM ET |

Our friends at Yakface have posted a very interesting article "Hasbro Fining Stores for Breaking Street Date?" based on an e-mail from one of their readers about retail breaking street dates, most recently by TARGET. Click through to check out the article, it is a worthy read. If what they're saying is true, Toys R Us would go bankrupt with a fine of $200 per item out before release date. That is some serious punishment indeed!

After ROTS Wave In TVC - No New Figures Until 2011?

Posted by Paul | July 24, 2010 at 06:43 PM ET |

Has anyone else noticed and is sad about the fact that the Return Of The Jedi wave from The Vintage Collection won't be released until January 2011? That was a lovely surprise from Hasbro! Ugh! Another quarter without new figures. 2011 better be packed to the gills with new figures!

UPDATE: Our friends at Rebelscum are reporting that although the presentation slides denotes the ROTJ wave as wave 5, it has been pushed up to wave 3. So it is highly likely that we will see additional waves after this before January (like the AOTC wave first reported by our friends at Yakface for example). We will obviously learn more between now and CV for sure.

First Image Of TVC ROTS Wave Surfaces!

Posted by Paul | July 15, 2010 at 12:18 PM ET |

Our friends at Rebelscum.com have gotten their hands on the first image of The Vintage Collection's ROTS Clone Commander Cody (chase version). While it looks amazing, there are quite a few confusing images on the back of the card and we aren't entirely sure what Hasbro is doing here (pretty much at all) because The Saga Collection and the Revenge Of The Sith lines should definitely not serve as the "vintage" references for these characters. Aren't these "first time available on vintage packaging figures"?? We tried to pay attention with the Back To The Future logic, but this takes it to a whole new level. The original (vintage) card back is actually the future card back. Oh well, before we totally confuse you, just take a look for yourself!

Why did Hasbro totally lead us on with the Bespin Cloud Car? Third (actually fourth) time is the charm apparently! Is A Sideshow Collectibles C-3PO Product Coming?

Posted by Paul | July 09, 2010 at 01:02 PM ET |

Sideshow has been torturing fans every day with their daily Comic Con event with "hard to see" images. Today, it appears that they may be soon breaking their silence on a C-3PO product. But we could definitely be way off base here as "gold" is not strictly relegated to C-3PO. We hope we're not wrong, but it is interesting to say the least. Premium Format, 12" figure, whatever Sideshow, just please give us C-3PO already!

Review: Darth Vader - TVC - VC08

Posted by Paul | July 09, 2010 at 12:15 AM ET |

Wow! We now have two vintage-styled Darth Vader figurers and we suspect there will be a few more before The Vintage Collection is all said and done. Research Droids Reviews looks at a figure that should have been the original version of 2008's TLC Darth Vader (BD 8) but got delayed until now. And sadly, the final results just weren't worth the wait unfortunately. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Review: See-Threepio (C-3PO) - TVC - VC06

Posted by Paul | July 08, 2010 at 12:35 AM ET |

See-Threepio (C-3PO) from The Vintage Collection is an unfortunate step backwards in the wonderful first wave of figures. Clearly inspired from some offscreen scene in Tartakovsky's Clone Wars Volume 2 when Padmé gives Threepio a gold plated body as a gift for Anakin, he just doesn't deliver satisfying results. Research Droids Reviews looks at this much-too-short droid and discovers it isn't the best fit as a candidate in The Vintage Collection or really as an action figure in general. We Can't Stop Raving About Dengar!

Posted by Paul | July 07, 2010 at 10:06 AM ET |

It's been a while, but the last time we raved about a figure to extreme degrees was The Clone Wars Luminara Unduli, and we need to make an even bigger stink about the new The Vintage Collection Dengar. If you have little to no interest in picking this up, you are sadly mistaken. Dengar is absolutely one of the best action figures Hasbro has ever made and it would be a travesty to pass on him. If you need some prodding, be sure to check out our thoughts on him in our Research Droids Reviews and we bet he will be all you think about until you pick him up!

Review: Dack Ralter - TVC - VC07

Posted by Paul | July 07, 2010 at 12:20 AM ET |

It's all about The Empire Strikes Back when it comes to the first wave of The Vintage Collection and Research Droids Reviews looks at a figure which you might think is a background character but had more lines than many of the other more "popular" characters. Finally getting super-artiuclated status, Dack (Dak) Ralter is a very exciting addition to The Vintage Collection and you'll need him to outfit the new Luke Skywalker's Snowspeeder just released too. C R5-C7 4 The First Time!

Posted by Paul | July 06, 2010 at 07:08 PM ET |

We must admit that it drives us utterly insane when we cannot locate a character in a Star Wars film that somewhere in urban legend is said to definitely be there, whether blatant or obscure. But one droid character that has been a big burden on our search to find him is the Build A Droid R5-C7 from the Return Of The Jedi wave released in 2009's Legacy Collection. But thanks to much googling on the web, we found a great site which gives some great reference shots of this droid as well as many other astromech droids in the various Star Wars films. We suggest clicking through for a very cool summary (and proof that R5-C7 is in Episode II)!

In addition to the new guides we are also separating the first two "seasons" of The Clone Wars to keep things easy for you collectors. Review: (Twin Pod) Cloud Car Pilot - TVC - VC11

Posted by Paul | July 06, 2010 at 12:05 AM ET |

It's all about The Empire Strikes Back when it comes to the first wave of The Vintage Collection and today's Research Droids Reviews entry focuses on a generic pilot who was a favorite back in the original vintage line. While it's hard to confirm exactly how his uniform looks based on what we see in Episode V, there is no denying that Hasbro made one heck of an awesome action figure out of the concept art drawings! Review: Dengar - TVC - VC01

Posted by Paul | July 05, 2010 at 12:01 AM ET |

Would you believe that The Vintage Collection Dengar is probably the best action figure yet to come from Hasbro? (Wow, that was bold of us!) We won't even waste our breath trying to sell our case here, so click through to check out today's Research Droids Reviews entry as we discuss at length why Dengar may just be the new "example" by which all future action figures will (or at least should) follow. Don't judge him by his popularity, judge him for what he brings to the line as an action figure only and we can guarantee that you'll be more than impressed. TRU - The Saga Continues! And Probably Won't End....

Posted by Paul | July 04, 2010 at 02:12 PM ET |

...until August 6th we bet. We just had to laugh when we experienced the latest insanity today at TRU. This particular location (which will remain nameless) told us that they couldn't get out The Vintage Collection until August 6th, yet they had seven (7) cases of the new The Clone Wars lineup on top of the shelving where the Star Wars figures were hanging (and even had some on the shelf for sale no less)! One thing is for sure and that's something went awry at the corporate office of TRU....again! Click through for the proof.

Review: AT-AT Commander - TVC - VC05

Posted by Paul | July 04, 2010 at 12:20 AM ET |

Have you been waiting for an upgrade to General Veers? Well, you're going to have to wait a little bit longer then. Research Droids Reviews continues its look at some of the new figures in The Vintage Collection and today's entry focuses on a great "generic" figure, but it's one that may leave you wishing for just a tad more. But this doesn't mean it isn't an excellent action figure anyway. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Review: Han Solo (Echo Base Outfit) - TVC - VC03

Posted by Paul | July 03, 2010 at 08:39 AM ET |

It's time to look at the third major hero from The Empire Strikes Back, but in an outfit that probably saw less screen time than Lando Calrissian in his smuggler outfit. Research Droids Reviews continues its look at some of the new figures in The Vintage Collection and the latest is a figure that will presently surprise you and one that is a "first" and opens the door to a new concept in the line. TARGET Has Some Pretty Good Deals - Check Yours!

Posted by Paul | July 02, 2010 at 04:14 PM ET |

We came across a nice selection of clearance at TARGET in Horseheads, NY. It is not known how widespread this is because we're not currently in the Philly area to confirm if it's the same there as well. But we found plenty of Y-wing Bombers vehicles for $45 and change and the mid-size vehicle assortment rang up for $16 and change. But perhaps the most amazing find was the second series of Stack 'ems (the keychains) that rang up for a mere $.99 at the register. We never even found these locally (or ever at retail) so that was a nice surprise. Sorry, no photo proof available. You'll have to trust us on this one.

More TRU The Vintage Collection Store Reports

Posted by Paul | July 02, 2010 at 04:04 PM ET |

And it looks like we have another report of The Vintage Collection figures being found in Lawrenceville, NJ (near Princeton) at another Toys R Us store. (And yet we are also still hearing of store reports that some stores won't be putting these out until August 6th.) It's utterly maddening!

Toys R Us Stores Are Still Putting Figures Out Early!

Posted by Paul | July 02, 2010 at 03:58 PM ET |

Some of us at JTA are vacationing in Watkins Glen, NY (and elsewhere) for the fourth of July. So we pulled over to find a Dunkin' Donuts with WiFi to report this news. We found the one and only Toys R Us store in a big mile radius and there sitting on the shelves were the latest The Vintage Collection, Saga Legends and The Clone Wars figures. And we have been informed that they are hitting the Philadelphia area pretty hard too. These are still slipping out folks. Keep hunting! By the way, we talked with a store manager who said that these figures are NOT on any active product hold list for the 6th of August despite what the box says. Whether he was misinformed is not known, but we found it interesting to say the least!
