UPDATE: Our Readers Have Voiced Their Choices And Here Are The Results

Posted by Paul | October 26, 2013 at 07:32 PM EDT |

UPDATE! We made one stinking error and it affected the results, but just slightly. We accidentally neglected the high-ranking Imperial Navy Commander (VC94) figure, so we added him back into the ranking. The "new" ranking is essentially the same even now and the figures who scored below the Imperial Navy Commander have been pushed down one spot. Other than that, it's relatively the same. Special thanks to JTA readers SnTrooper and Darth Eddie for pointing out our oversight. Click HERE to see the revised ranking.

The Fate Of The 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper's Paint Job

Posted by Paul | October 26, 2013 at 01:43 PM EDT |

So, you have seen pretty awesome loose shots of wave 3 and they're all pretty darn cool, right? As you may or may not know, Hasbro has chosen the 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper as one of the carry-forward figures in wave 3. You also probably know all too well that Hasbro has totally goofed on this figure's paint job as it's missing half of it's color flashes. They also said that they knew about the error and were going to fix it. We just received a photo showing us this picture freshly pulled out of a wave 3 case assortment. Are you interested to see how Hasbro addressed the issue? Click through for more.

Our Readers Have Voiced Their Choices And Here Are The Results

Posted by Paul | October 26, 2013 at 12:07 PM EDT |

The results are in and we thank you so much for your participation! After nearly 200 figure choices of yours (and subsequent voting), see which ones made our own little "Fans' Choice" reissue poll. The current Saga Legends line is great for kids, but adult collectors need something to buy in between new figure waves. The previous incarnations of Saga Legends that ran from 2007-2011 were incredible supplemental basic figure lines for collectors. It allowed us to army build some great troopers, and these lines also gave us a second stab at some other very hard to find action figures (during their original release). We want Hasbro to bring that back. (more....)

While we don't have photographic evidence to show you, we an confirm that to a West Coast source (Bombadgungan) and an East Coast source (me) that the following items are marked down: The Rise Of Darth Vader ($28.49) (LOL!), The Black Series 6" ($18.99) (LOL!) and Mission Series $8.99 (LOL!) Many TARGET locations in both parts of the country still do NOT carry The Black Series 3.75". (Sheesh!)

What A Mess At This Kohl's!

Posted by Paul | October 21, 2013 at 08:58 PM EDT |

JTA reader Jub Goobles also shares a most egregious find at Kohl's. It has to do with the separating bubbles. While we can't conclusively blame them for this particular travesty, we can blame them for trying to get $15 for a year old Movie Heroes figure! Click through for the insanity!!

Here is another example of what Hasbro needs to keep at retail throughout the product year at all times. Sponsor Announcement: Brian's Toys

Posted by Chuck | October 18, 2013 at 09:54 PM EDT |

Brian's Toys has one of the most rare Star Wars figures in the United States available for sale right now on their site.  This Vlix hails from Brazil where it was produced by Glasslite.  Because it's original counterpart was abruptly cancelled from production in the USA, it remains one of the rarest toys in Star Wars collections. Visit the site to see photos and get more information.

Gentle Giant has also announced new figures added to their jumbo line, and you can pre-order them at Brian's Toys! The Wampa is the first Beast Assortment character made, and stands a whopping 22-inches tall.  The Luke (Hoth Outfit) 12" jumbo figure compliments the Hoth theme of these two figures.

Let Us Know What Hard To Find Figures You Want To See Again!

Posted by Paul | October 16, 2013 at 10:47 AM EDT |

Ever since Jeff Labovitz at Hasbro clarified that The Black Series line may contain an occasional straight repack instead of just only new sculpts, we wanted to gather some data of action figures you desperately want to see made available again. It appears more and more likely that TBS will contain some straight repacks in the future. We want to send Hunter PR a list of no more than 10 action figures chosen by our readers that you want to see re-released and they will pass the data along to Hasbro for us. Whether they come in The Black Series basic figure line, or a different more collector-oriented Saga Legends line, we need your input so we can get a good sampling of what the community wants to accuately see. Choose any action figure, note it's original collection and year if possible and type that information in our comments (and nothing else please). Then, in order to come up with our Top 10 ranking, we need readers to vote for that choice using the up arrows. (Please don't touch the down or dislike arrows if you don't want to see a figure, Instead, please just don't vote. It will make our lives much easier.) Please also refrain from commenting generally on people's picks. We will reserve that opportunity for once our Top 10 is compiled. Let's just keep this clean and easy for this particular post. Thank you. Click through for more!

OK, so you "already" have the Imperial Technician and his accessory, but this time it's "different enough to make you mad". But the awesome part of this set is the Imperial Officer, which gives us a definitive modern replacement to the 1981 Kenner figure. See the Death Star Scanning Crew in full in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Star Wars Action News - Episode 407: NYCC 2013

Posted by Chuck | October 16, 2013 at 06:37 AM EDT |

In just a few years New York Comic Con has grown to have attendance second only to the 40-year-old San Diego Comic-Con. This year had big name stars like Sylvester Stallone, Sigourney Weaver, and more signing autographs, perhaps the highest profile autograph stars at any convention. On this week's Star Wars Action News podcast Marjorie and Arnie report on the Star Wars reveals from Kotobukiya, their exclusive Art-FX+ R2 unit, as well as the other Star Wars collectibles at the con.

But the biggest Star Wars reveals were not at the Javits Center. Hasbro had no presence at NYCC, but they held a private press event the Wednesday before the con and the Star Wars Action News hosts were there. Listen to find out what was revealed, and what wasn't. Plus find out Hasbro's answer to "what's right with Mara Jade?" and news on the notorious Black Series bubble issue.

Review: The Emperor (Throne Room) - SW [S - P3] - '03 #30

Posted by Paul | October 14, 2013 at 08:41 AM EDT |

Posted by Paul | October 13, 2013 at 06:48 AM EDT |

Hopefully we don't come across as hypocritical when we say we are fond of Luke Skywalker (Throne Room Duel) from the Star Wars "Saga" line. It's riddled with a stupid action feature and only looks good in one or two poses. But find out why we see its charm in our Research Droids Reviews today. Hasbro Seemingly Resolves The Black Series Bubble/Card Back Issues

Posted by Paul | October 12, 2013 at 02:18 PM EDT |

JTA reader James M. confirms something that I have been witnessing lately too. It appears that The Black Series 3.75" figures are being placed on card backs with a different matte, or at least with a slightly different sheen or texture. The point of this? The bubbles are attaching normally now. I shook one figure in the store, pulled on the bubble of another and they remained perfectly intact. Click through for more and be sure to let us know what you're finding in your local stores too.

We mark our 1600th review with a very special and long-awaited release that we just picked up last night. Check out the Ewok Assault Catapult, with Chubbray and Stemzee. The entire set gets high marks from us and this may surprise you since the figures are relatively simple kit-bashed concoctions. Actually, the Ewoks are inverses of each other. Review: McQuarrie Concept Stormtrooper - SW [S - P3] - '03 #34

Posted by Paul | October 08, 2013 at 06:25 AM EDT |

The McQuarrie Concept Stormtrooper is proof positive that Hasbro (at one time) really listened to the voice of the collector. While it now pales in comparison to the 2007 TAC Concept Stormtrooper, it still was the catalyst that gave us all the McQuarries love we experienced afterwards. See why this is an essential action figure for your collection, even today, in our Research Droids Reviews. Review: Mace Windu (Geonosian Rescue) - SW [S - P1] - '02 #28

Posted by Paul | October 07, 2013 at 11:34 AM EDT |

One of the worst action figures in the Star Wars "Saga" line is Mace Windu (Geonosian Rescue). Find out why in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Mace Windu (Geonosian Rescue)

JTA awesome reader BorgIG88 comes through huge again for us and snapped some quick pics of the recently acquired Battle Of Geonosis: Jedi Knights sets. I have to say that the production figures look incredible. The pack-in clones are yawn fests of course, but just look at those Jedi. I can tell right off the bat that there is some new body tooling (not just head sculpts) and some of the bodies from the Geonosis Arena Showdown sets have been reused (again) for these sets as well. Click through and enjoy this first look at these exciting sets. We'll do more analysis of these figures in the future, especially when its' time to add them to our RDRs.

Posted by Paul | October 06, 2013 at 07:56 PM EDT |

We have been accumulating your questions for Hasbro when we meet with them at the Hasbro Preview Part in New York City this coming Wednesday night. We have accumulated almost 100 questions from our readers already, and that doesn't even include the ones I will be asking. So, if you thought of any last minute questions, be sure to post them HERE before midnight Monday, October 7th so that they have an opportunity to be asked. I have to shut down the incoming questions Monday night so I have time to prepare everything. Thanks for your cooperation! Also, we are presenting Hasbro with a Build A Droid multipack concept too that night. We have received a phenomenal response from readers on that as well. If you'd like to contribute more to that, please do so also before midnight on Monday. The Build A Droid concept article can be found RIGHT HERE.

The WA-7 (Dexter's Diner) figure is one of our favorites in the entire Star Wars "Saga" line. She looks great, defies gravity, and makes up hope that Hermione will get made one day. See why you need this action figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. Hasbro Fixes The Black Series 6" R2-D2 Dome Line Issue

Posted by Paul | October 05, 2013 at 10:43 AM EDT |

It has always been perplexing to collectors when Hasbro corrects "insignificant" errors to enhance the figures they make while forgoing correcting major issues (the 2007-2011 Saga Legends 501st Legion Trooper's helmet immediately comes to mind). That being said, Hasbro has just corrected and important aesthetics issue. You know how the horizontal blue dome line on The Black Series 6" R2-D2 looked like something you would see on a vital signs monitor more than anything else? Well, they've fixed the issue. Click through for more.

Review: 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper - TBS - #12

Posted by Paul | October 03, 2013 at 06:23 AM EDT |

The 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper may be one of the biggest disappointments from Hasbro yet. Ironically enough, it has the potential to be the definitive version of this character is Hasbro works hard to get the missing paint operations completed (and giving the figure a new, smaller bucket. Will they follow through and ensure a running change is put into motion? You may want to hold off voting on this figure until we see if that does indeed happen or not. For now, see this confusing mess in our Research Droids Reviews as we talk about the figures in the second wave of The Black Series 3.75" line. Don't forget to leave your feedback on these figures in our Disqus comments! So, feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Star Wars Action News - Episode 406: Size DOES Matter

Posted by Chuck | October 02, 2013 at 05:12 PM EDT |

In 2007 the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars brought an onslaught of toys, collectibles, and commemorative items. But of all the 30th Anniversary items only one provided new insight into the Star Wars saga -- J.W. Rinsler's The Making of Star Wars. With that book's success Rinzler followed up with The Making of The Empire Strikes Back for Episode V's 30th anniversary in 2010. Now, Rinzler completes his trilogy with The Making of Return of the Jedi, and he may have saved the best for last. On this week's Star Wars Action News podcast Brock gives a hands-on review of this impressive tome, which is in bookstores today!

Review: Luminara Unduli - TBS - #11

Posted by Paul | October 01, 2013 at 08:27 AM EDT |

The all-new Luminara Unduli action figure is deceitfully beautiful. She looks absolutely fantastic but once you have her in your hands you'll find that she doesn't do what you want her to do. We swear this isn't chauvinism. See for yourself in our Research Droids Reviews as we talk about the figures in the second wave of The Black Series 3.75" line.
