Star Wars Action News - Episode 367

Posted by Chuck | October 31, 2012 at 06:45 AM EDT |

For years many fans' holy grail for the Star Wars 3.75-inch collection has been an original trilogy vehicle never realized in either vintage or modern era—Jabba's Sail Barge. The scale and scope of such a vehicle has made it seemingly prohibitive, but at this year's New York Comic-Con the Star Wars brand team mentioned that they could possibly do it. This has caused Star Wars fan sites, including Star Wars Action News, to unite like never before with the Bring on the Barge fan site petition. With the lofty goal of 10,000 signatures by Jan 31st this petition is to show Hasbro that there is a huge base of support in the community for a barge. On this week's Star Wars Action News podcast, Marjorie and Arnie discuss the probability of such an item, and where it would fit in their collection. So listen to the show, head over and sign the petition, then come to the Star Wars Action News forums for their Poll of the Week and tell them how much you'd be willing to pay for the Barge.

Review: Clone Trooper Officer [Captain] - TAC - Saga Legends

Posted by Chuck | October 30, 2012 at 06:54 PM EDT |

Today's Research Droids Review comes in a bit late. Paul has been busy dealing with the wake of Sandy and no power. In the mean time, you can read about our latest addition to the 30 (77-07) line, the Captain variation of Clone Trooper Officer. Read the full report in our Research Droids Reviews today. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Due to the horrible storm, our long-standing streak of daily reviews just may come to an end, and it took a super-storm to do it! But, we may just play catch-up in a few days to maintain the pace!

Disney Acquires Lucasfilm... Star Wars VII Officially Announced!

Posted by Chuck | October 30, 2012 at 05:06 PM EDT |

It's now time for me to pass `Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers. And with that, the biggest Star Wars entertainment news since the announcement of the Prequel Trilogy has just hit the internet! Disney has just purchased Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion! With this announcement we get Star Wars: Episode VII in 2015, plus even more! And before you double-check your calendar, today is NOT April Fools!

Read about this on CNN, Wall Street Journal, and find the full press release at Ain't It Cool News...

Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga and grow the franchise well into the future.

Update: Make sure to stop by the Official Site for some in-depth coverage of this landmark event (a big thanks to JTA reader Mike_5555 for the heads-up).

Review: Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight - Ultimate Quarter Scale

Posted by Paul | October 28, 2012 at 09:51 AM EDT |

The Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight Ultimate Quarter Scale is a frustrating collectible. It has one of the best and most accurate costumes of the character, but the portrait does it no justice at all. Review: Shadow Guard (The Force Unleashed) - Mini Bust

Posted by Paul | October 15, 2012 at 07:57 AM EDT |

It always surprises us when a repainted/slightly resculpted Mini Bust looks sharper than its original. But that's exactly what happened with the Shadow Guard (The Force Unleashed) PGM exclusive. In our Research Droids Reviews today you'll find a Mini Bust that is indeed excellent, but it was pure luck whether you got a nicely painted speciment or not. (We were fortunate). Score! Take Advantage Of That Awesome TRU Deal If You Can!

Posted by Paul | October 06, 2012 at 07:00 PM EDT |

With special thanks to our friends at Yakface.com, yours truly found 4 cases of wave 15 at my local TRU this morning and was able to spend some quality time picking out the best cards and paint jobs possible for some extras in my collection. For 12 figures I spent pennies above $63. That felt like the good old days.... yet they were brand new figures! Pure collecting bliss for me today! Yes! If you haven't checked your local Toys R Us, what are you waiting for.... another miracle?

Arguably, the Discover The Force line, aside from The Vintage Collection was the best Hasbro had to offer collectors in 2012. Naboo Pilot was part of that special 12 figure exclusive set, but was originally intended to be released in The Vintage Collection first. Finally released in the last wave of The Vintage Collection, he can be seen in full detail in our Research Droids Reviews today!! But this is only the tip of the iceberg for where this figure shines. See him in great detail in our Research Droids Reviews now!
