Review: Battle Droid (Arena Battle) [AOTC] - SW [S - P1] - '02 #11

Posted by Paul | February 28, 2014 at 07:52 AM ET |

Here is the second, and very hard to find running change, the Battle Droid (Arena Battle) [AOTC] figure from the Star Wars "Saga" line. You can look at this figure as an intended running change, or a correction. Either decision will probably be correct. Same review as yesterday, just a different gallery. Star Wars: Frames On Sale For Less Than $50 In Store At Barnes & Noble

Posted by Paul | February 26, 2014 at 07:36 PM ET |

If you decided not to spend thousands of dollars for it, Barnes & Noble has Frames for a mere $49.99 (original retail = $150). I was fortunate enough to find one locally for this price too! It's not bound in a wooden box, but it's still gorgeous nonetheless. Special thanks to JTA Facebook friend Glenn D. for alerting us to this news! From what we understand, this is an "in store" price only. While you're there, be sure to check the toy section where you'll also likely find a few cool Hasbro gems from The Black Series 6" line too.

Review: R2-D2 (Coruscant Sentry) - SW [S - P1] - '02 #14

Posted by Paul | February 26, 2014 at 07:54 AM ET |

We understand the gist of R2-D2 (Coruscant Sentry) and why Hasbro decided to use this sculpt to make him, but it's too outdated at this point and we would love to see an all-new take on this specific version of him in the future. See more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Wouldn't It Be Nice?

Posted by Paul | February 25, 2014 at 08:38 PM ET |

It's very hard to see a magnificent display of LEGO figures (amongst many The Clone Wars figures we are dying to see in 3.75" scale) like this when we know that we will never see them get made in the Hasbro line. This isn't a jab at Hasbro, but come on already. Look at all of these great characters. What kid and collector wouldn't buy all of these amazing characters in 3.75" realistic scale? When I think of how many missed opportunities Hasbro made with The Clone Wars line. It stopped in the middle of nowhere and the best characters never got a shot in this scale. But yet great companies like LEGO keep on banging them out. Why Hasbro? Why?! Click through for a bigger picture and to leave your own thoughts on this topic.

Looking For New Star Wars Figures At Walmart? Try The Clearance Aisle!

Posted by Paul | February 25, 2014 at 08:14 PM ET |

If you're still looking for the latest Saga Legends figures, the Walmart clearance section may be your best bet. While not actually on clearance themselves, they have been sorted with the reduced LEGO and other generally marked down toys and dolls that usually go on sale this time of year. Special thanks to JTA reader Michael H. for the photo below, but I too can also confirm that these brand new figures are thrown in with the ocean of other toys Walmart is looking to kick to the curb. (Editor's Note: Can the current state of Star Wars collecting be any more abysmal? Between this report and the horrid state of TARGET and slightly better representation at Toys R Us, it's just not a good time to try and drop your cash. Thank God better things are on the horizon!)

Those Two Upcoming The Clone Wars Season 6 Clones Are....

Posted by Paul | February 23, 2014 at 09:36 PM ET |

You learned from Toy Fair that there will be two "Season 6" clones coming in The Black Series line later this year. Because Hasbro no longer sends out their slide presentations to media, readers like you don't get to see everything anymore. Thankfully, a good friend managed to sneak this "illegal" photo and now we're sharing it with you. I had mentioned during our live blog that one looks like Wolffe and the other looks like a phase II version of Captain Lock. The image isn't great, but what do you think? Click through for more!

Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi - TBS - #10 (6-inch)

Posted by Paul | February 23, 2014 at 06:25 AM ET |

You May Want To Keep An Eye On The MTT At Marshalls

Posted by Paul | February 21, 2014 at 08:22 AM ET |

I had plans to sit on this information because I need one, but I have come across some scoop that may be of interest to you. It's common knowledge now that the Multi Troop Transport from the Star Wars The Phantom Menace 3D line has shown up at various clearance outlets across the country, namely Marshalls (and even some reports at TJ Maxx). But what has been more interesting is that it hasn't been selling that well at these discounted prices. (In most cases it's already been marked down once.) I did an investigation with Marshalls management and was enlightened to some future plans of what will happen to this vehicle. If you're interested in it, you may want to click through for more information.

Get Your Spare Pair Of Underwear Prepared!

Posted by Paul | February 20, 2014 at 09:24 PM ET |

Relying on photo galleries alone wasn't the way to do Toy Fair coverage this year. No, the real news came out of brilliantly intense discussions with Hasbro and not backing away when they avoided answering questions. JTA revealed some pretty cool news for everyone, but one comment from Hasbro in particular has us in crazed anticipation. We want to know what Episode V goodness will make us "need-new-underwear excited". We of course have quite a few months to go, but we want you to weigh in on what products from The Empire Strikes Back you want/hope to see announced for SDCC this year now while this news is fresh and exciting. For the first time in a long while, I honestly have extreme excitement for what's in store for The Black Series and I am hopeful that some of their greatest things are yet to come. So, what do you think Hasbro's comment "Fans of The Empire Strikes Back will be "need-new-underwear excited" at San Diego Comic Con this year" means?

Christopher Malcolm Dead At 67

It is with great sadness we post this, but the man who played Zev Senesca, Christopher Malcom, has passed away. We were surprised to learn he had a role in The Rocky Horror Show as well. TMZ.com has full details. Special thanks to Buried Egg for reminding us to post this to our home page. We had posted this earlier to our Facebook page the day of his death.

The reports are flooding in to us! You heard it from our friends at Star Wars Action News and us first that both scales of The Black Series lines have begun infiltrating Disney mall stores across the country. It's like they all reset in the last couple of days though because the reports are vast and numerous! To my surprise, I found 4 6" Boba Fetts for $24.95 each and 4 3.75" Darth Plagueis figures for $10.95 each. (You would NEVER find this quantity in TARGET or TRU.) JTA reader Paul Hoffman from Boston MA also writes in with an incredible find and has taken plenty of pictures for us to share with you of the other stuff Disney stores are also getting! It looks like there is a new hope after all for collectors. Click through for more.

Now That TVC Carry-Forwards Have Been Confirmed, What Do You Think?

Posted by Paul | February 17, 2014 at 10:08 PM ET |

We have to tell you how excited we are that our rumor that some former The Vintage Collection figures will work their way into upcoming The Black Series assortments. We were sweating bullets on that rumor report quite honestly, but it's all come true. We have all discussed this at length before on this site, but now that it's all been officially confirmed by Hasbro, how do you feel about this? And do you think that they have made some great inaugural choices? Click through to see what you can expect for the rest of 2014 and be sure to leave your comments.

Hasbro Will Address Super-sized Bucket Issue On Phase II Clones

Posted by Paul | February 17, 2014 at 09:03 PM ET |

This post is for Justin Cook, my good friend and the voice of reason against all things five points of articulation at Yakface.com (love you Jayson). And honestly it's for all of you too. If you read any posts on our site about how much someone hates the phase II helmets on the TVC quality Clone Troopers, those comments likely were generated by Justin. Anyway, he sent me a custom sample Shock Trooper with a revised helmet (he used the 2013 Saga Legends figure just to illustrate a more accurate scale for the figure). I brought my own trusty TVC Shock Trooper with huge bucket for comparison, placed them both in Derryl DePriest's hand where he performed his own shocking (pun intended) analysis of the ghastly issue. Are you curious to read what his conclusions are? Then click through for more.

We were quite surprised to hear some comments from our readers about The Black Series 6" Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues) and Stormtrooper from the perspective that they didn't know much about them until they showed up in our Toy Fair galleries. We thought we would jog your memory a bit about that. We have provided full galleries and reviews on these great figures in January. Toy Fair 2014: Your Questions To Hasbro Answered: Part I

Posted by Paul | February 17, 2014 at 10:46 AM ET |

Here is Part I of our Hasbro Q and A, of which there'll be four (4) parts. There could be misspellings, formatting issues and possibly a few other mistakes of which I will edit over time. And you may even call it a "disorganized mess" like some of my critics have said in the past. But guess what? It's all good. Jedi Temple Archives NY Toy Fair Exclusive: Hasbro Secrets Revealed!

Posted by Paul | February 16, 2014 at 03:54 PM ET |

I am excited to provide exclusive Jedi Temple Archives content on some upcoming Hasbro Star Wars items that will be coming our way and likely confirmed at San Diego Comic Con, if not sooner. Although I feel we provided our readers with some cool coverage from NY Toy Fair this year, I wanted to give you something more.... anticipatory, for lack of a better word. If you see these details posted anywhere else, they were lifted from my conversations directly with Hasbro (except for one and you'll know which one that is shortly). I essentially "lowered" myself and "begged" to various staff at Hasbro and pleaded to have them give me something I could take back to our loyal readership. Would you believe they actually gave me some stuff to share? (Or maybe that was the top secret stuff I was to keep under the vest.... I don't know.) I guess I should preface this with "until you hear it from Hasbro take it with a grain of salt" but why at this point? It seems as if all of our rumors come true and with just a few exceptions, this "hack" site is providing content that is just at the forefront of what readers want to hear. No gimmicks, no buying Fakebook fans, no hijinks. We hope you enjoy this special set of details of what "may" be coming down the pike shortly. Click through for more.

Expanded Universe Fans: We're Doomed!

Posted by Paul | February 16, 2014 at 10:05 AM ET |

"This is madness!" "I have a bad feeling about this." Or enter any other dark Star Wars phrase to express the really bad decision to end a very important property. We don't like it, but we imagine it had to eventually happen. Although we don't see eye to eye with Hasbro on this decision, they are sadly being directed by Lucasfilm to avoid a huge and fertile property. Medicom Toy To Produce Star Wars 6-inch Line Too?

Posted by Paul | February 10, 2014 at 05:49 PM ET |

Our friends at Yakface.com have directed their readers to a fascinating bit of cool news at ImperialHolocron.com which alerts readers that Medicom Toy is now producing its own 6" figure line. And one of its licenses is Star Wars. If this comes to pass, you can probably kiss Hasbro's 6" TBS line goodbye, unless the MSRP on the Medicom Toy line just scares everyone away. BUT. Medicom Toy will be producing unprecedented quality 6" action figures as evidenced by their one-sixth scale line. It's too early for full details yet, but click through to check out the teaser image!

Review: Darth Vader (Throne Room Duel) - SW [S - P3] - '03 #18

Posted by Paul | February 09, 2014 at 07:51 AM ET |

What a piece of junk. Collectors waited forever for Hasbro to update the 1998 POTF2 Darth Vader (Removable Helmet) and this is what we got. Darth Vader (Throne Room Duel) is such a disappointment that it probably wouldn't have made a difference if Hasbro never made it. See our assessment in our Research Droids Reviews today. Endor Rebel Soldier [Version 2]

A Quick Snippet On Darth Plagueis

Posted by Paul | February 08, 2014 at 07:49 AM ET |

It goes without saying that many if not most Star Wars collectors are buying the Darth Plagueis action figure without knowing pretty much anything about him. Our friend Scott put together a YoutTube snippet from the audio book which should give you a pretty good character overview that shows is not only evil in nature, but also completely haunting. It's worth the four minutes of your time. Plus, you'll hear the correct pronunciations for many of the words we're all mispronouncing. Click through for more.

It's hard to believe that at so many retail locations you can still find ghost TBS figures. New case assortments (if you're lucky to see them) feature figures with the same chronic problem. What have you been finding on your toy runs. I wish I could give you a report, but nothing has arrived since August in my area. Special thanks to JTA reader Derek for the images. Review: Han Solo (Endor Raid) - SW [S - P1] - '02 #37

Posted by Paul | February 06, 2014 at 07:55 AM ET |

A unique interpretation of a classic character doesn't always translate well. That's about how we feel with regards to Han Solo (Endor Raid). It has some positive points, but overall it's a relative mess. Find out more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Saga Legends Found On Clearance At Walmart For $3

Posted by Paul | February 05, 2014 at 12:31 PM ET |

Uh-oh. What could this mean. Could the line that was going to save the Star Wars brand be going extinct? We jest of course, but a few interesting reports have come in where readers are finding this line on clearance. As all of the lines except for The Black Series will transition into the Star Wars: Rebels line look, it makes sense that the Darth Vader/ROTS line look will have to go out of production, but this is sooner than expected. Review: Lando Calrissian (Jabba's Sail Barge) - SW [S - P3] - '04 #07

Here is an excellent version of the Episode VI Lando Calrissian (Jabba's Sail Barge), although the subtitle makes no sense at all. See this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. OK, as someone who loathes football, even I found this cool. See every NFL football helmet through the eyes of Star Wars!

Billy D.! Billy D.! Billy D.! But if you're Turk he will always be Lando to you. See a decent interpretation of him as the final figure in the Star Wars "Saga" line. Lando Calrissian (Death Star Attack) really has some positive points! See why in our Research Droids Reviews today. Current Paint Operations Are Complete Madness

Posted by Paul | February 03, 2014 at 08:32 PM ET |

I really don't mean to ride on the coattails of our friends at Yakface.com, but I couldn't just sit on this report. Our friends there have posted an alarming article, which in actuality isn't alarming at all since i have personally witnessed this garbage hanging from the pegs on my own toy runs. Hasbro's paint jobs have NEVER been this horrific, not even in The Power Of The Force line. Do they really want to diminish articulation and create laughable paint operations on these figures? People defending this line should make an appointment with the nearest shrink ASAP. See their report and feel free to discuss this madness.

Hasbro began experimenting with different articulation combinations with the final wave of the Star Wars "Saga" line. General Madine (Imperial Shuttle Capture) is a great example of this. Review: Han Solo (Endor Strike) - SW [S - P3] - '04 #19

Posted by Paul | February 02, 2014 at 07:48 AM ET |

The Han Solo (Endor Strike) figure represents a version of Han Solo that technically wasn't in Return Of The Jedi. Do you know why? Find out in our Research Droids Reviews today. One of the Special Reports readers look forward to the most is our annual Vintage Versus Modern Analysis. Jedi Temple Archives brings this to you annually during the first quarter of every calendar year to see where we are at with Hasbro updating the original 92 Kenner figures (plus a few other candidates that make it an even 100). We once again are "looking into the future" with this year's report just as we did with last year's. A nice handful of upcoming The Black Series figures have been included for 2014 even though they're not even released yet. Plus, we plead with Hasbro like whiny little kids about the four candidates that yet to have a modern counterpart. Join us as we present to you 2014: Hasbro – Don't Be Mean And Get This List Clean! As always, we welcome your thoughts on this in our comments. Let your voice be heard!
