Review: AT-RT Assault Squad - TAC - Battle Packs

Posted by Paul | May 01, 2011 at 12:01 AM EDT |

Despite the 30 (77-07) line celebrating 30 years of Star Wars, many products in the line were either Hasbro concepts or Expanded Universe concepts. The AT-RT Assault Squad Battle Packs set was one of these said "Hasbro Concepts" and really came out rather well. See what Research Droids Reviews has to say about this elusive set. We hope that you'll also leave comments in our new and fun comments section as well as placing your opinion of this item by voting in our poll. Review: Jango Fett - TSC - SAGA 020

Posted by Paul | April 29, 2011 at 12:40 AM EDT |

There are some figures that age incredibly well over time. If you can accept the reduced articulation and action-posed stances, The Saga Collection Jango Fett is a figure for you. Check out today's Research Droids Reviews to see a great example of a 2002 figure that looks just as good in 2006 as it did when it was first released (and maybe better thanks to the updated paint job). We're not saying it's perfect, but it's still pretty awesome. We hope that you'll also leave comments in our new and fun comments section as well as placing your opinion of this item by voting in our poll. Review: Yoda - TSC - SAGA 019

Posted by Paul | April 28, 2011 at 12:45 AM EDT |

The good thing about Episode II Yoda and Episode III Yoda is that there aren't too many differences between them. In today's Research Droids Reviews, we look and see how Hasbro transformed and Episode III Yoda into an Episode II Yoda. But the Prequel Yodas from 2005 were in need of an overhaul. That didn't happen until 2010 though. We hope that you'll also leave comments in our new and fun comments section as well as placing your opinion of this item by voting in our poll. Posted by Paul | April 27, 2011 at 02:24 PM EDT |

We spoke with Sideshow Collectibles today and they confirmed that the item in the gallery is just a prototype and that the production figure would have the ribbed cloth body glove they have used on the most recent figures! Interestingly, you may not want it today and are holding out for a super-articulated version. Star Wars Action News - Episode 292

Posted by Chuck | April 19, 2011 at 07:03 PM EDT |

At San Diego Comic Con the past couple years, and Star Wars Celebration 5, the trailer for Knights of The Old Republic called Deceived, showing a group of Sith and a Mando sacking the Jedi Temple have had Star Wars fans drooling. While that trailer is actually not part of the game, fan response was so high that there had to be more given to that story, and now we have it -- Paul S. Kemp's Old Republic video game tie-in novel Deceived, which tells of that attack and its aftermath. On this week's Star Wars Action News, Paul talks to Arnie about the writing of the novel, and its themes of attachment and the Jedi code.

Review: Separatist Droid Gunship - TCW - Vehicles

Posted by Paul | April 19, 2011 at 12:20 AM EDT |

Who says Hasbro doesn't give us mid size vehicles based on the films? The Separatist Droid Gunship has yet to be featured in The Clone Wars and to date can only be seen in Revenge Of The Sith. But Research Droids Reviews concludes that while this vehicle is neat, it's not that engaging and we're surprised Hasbro made a toy of it (especially since they make excuses time and again about the OT ones). Review: Yarael Poof - TSC - SAGA 069

Posted by Paul | April 14, 2011 at 12:50 AM EDT |

How cool would it have been if Yarael Poof lived and was able to wield a lightsaber in Episode II during the Battle of Geonosis? Thankfully you can pretend this does happen because The Saga Collection Yarael Poof comes with a weird, but neat, lightsaber. See why Research Droids Reviews feels Yarael Poof is aging rather gracefully despite its very limited articulation. Through this, Arnie had his first exposure to the owner of the world's largest private Star Wars collection, and in the many years since starting Star Wars Action News Arnie and Marjorie have had the pleasure of meeting Steve in person many times as well as having him on the podcast.

Sideshow Collectibles has furtively added the Life Size Admiral Ackbar bust back in stock! This very hard to find bust is limited to only 300 pieces. We suggest if you're on the fence with it that now is the time to act. It has been on Wait List since it was originally released in October 2009!

Review: Padmé Amidala - TSC - SAGA 067

Posted by Paul | April 13, 2011 at 12:20 AM EDT |

If you're relatively new to collecting, look at what we as collectors got excited about for a Geonosis specific Padmé Amidala action figure in early 2007. Research Droids Reviews recounts this pitiful offering and is thankful that it only took a little over a year from this figure's release to get an all-new super-articulated version of her that reigns supremely queen. We hope that you'll also leave comments in our new and fun comments section as well as placing your opinion of this item by voting in our poll. Review: Holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi - TSC - SAGA 063

Posted by Paul | April 12, 2011 at 12:10 AM EDT |

The next time Hasbro claims that the reason they won't make an action figure because it is too obscure, be sure to throw Holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi in their face. You may have a false memory that he was prominent in Episode III, but this actually isn't the case. See just how insignificant this appearance was in Revenge Of The Sith by checking in to today's Research Droids Reviews. Review: Crab Droid - TCW - Deluxe

Posted by Paul | April 10, 2011 at 08:54 AM EDT |

Even though The Clone Wars interpretation of the Crab Droid only has four legs, Hasbro thought it was close enough to use the six-legged Crab Droid from the Revenge Of The Sith line. It hasn't changed that much since 2005, but is it worth the higher price? Research Droids Reviews isn't feeling the love from Hasbro with this release. We hope that you'll also leave comments in our Facebook section and vote in our poll. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Don't forget we accept requests so e-mail us.

Review: Can-cell With Anakin Skywalker - TCW - Deluxe

Posted by Paul | April 09, 2011 at 12:01 AM EDT |

Why does the Can-cell look so much cooler in the The Clone Wars line than in the Revenge Of The Sith line? It doesn't come with Yoda or Master Choi, but the "more articulated" Anakin Skywalker looks just fine even if he's missing Rotta and the backpack that houses the junior slug. Posted by Paul | April 02, 2011 at 12:02 AM EDT |

Back in early 2007, Hasbro held us over for an entire year by giving us the Elite Corps Clone Trooper in The Saga Collection. We noticed right away just how many inaccuracies existed on this sculpt when compared to the onscreen character.
