Review: Concept Han Solo - TAC - No. 47

Posted by Paul | October 31, 2010 at 12:06 AM EDT |

No, he's not a 1970s/1980s aerobics fashion victim, but Research Droids Reviews does notice some similarities in the presentation of the Concept Han Solo action figure which interestingly served as a blueprint that became responsible for making two separate characters that we know today as Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi from A New Hope! Review: Anakin Skywalker's Spirit - TAC - No. 45

Posted by Paul | October 30, 2010 at 12:02 AM EDT |

Very much like 2009's LC Queen Amidala (BD08), 2007's TAC Anakin Skywalker's Spirit was a figure that we really wanted to like, but we just don't think it ultimately delivers. Research Droids Reviews determines that this particular approach for spirit figures is not the best way to go, although we are unable to offer a better solution. But we do know that this figure will serve to crown your Christmas trees very nicely as a beautifully sparkling Christmas angel. OK, now we're just being mean. Review: Umpass-stay - TAC - No. 27

Posted by Paul | October 26, 2010 at 01:05 AM EDT |

Ak-rev wasn't the first drummer we got in the basic figure line. No, Hasbro made Umpass-stay in the 30 (77-07) line first. Research Droids Reviews checks him out in today's review. Don't Overlook Clearance With All This New Product Out!

Posted by Paul | October 09, 2010 at 11:13 PM EDT |

While you're out on your various runs with all this new product coming out, be sure to check Toys R Us for recent exclusives that have been put on clearance. Right now they are running a promotion that eligible clearance product gets marked down an additional 25%! For example, we found the Legacy Collection TIE Interceptor for a mere $29.99 (it retailed for $49.99). Other sale exclusives include Distrubance At Lars Homestead (for $17.24) and the Dagger Squadron B-wing Fighter (for $17.24). By the way, did you know the actual cost TRU paid each for these (the Dagger Squadron B-wing Fighter) was $22.76? No wonder these prices were so expensive. And now that they're blowing them out for $17.24 how can they stop that bleeding?

During our Q&A With JTA #4, a question was asked about why the new The Vintage Collection figure card backs can't look more like the original vintage figures (with the complete group shot of the entire collection). JTA reader Bob Sokol impressively comes through for us and recalls where and when Hasbro answered this question. Click through to check out the answer. And check out our Q&A With JTA column #4 if you haven't already!

New Saga Legends Variant Found! Jango Fett "Fixed"??!!

Posted by Paul | October 04, 2010 at 11:53 AM EDT |

JTA reader Mike Sarantos sends us a picture of the running change of Jango Fett from the 2002 SW version to the 2007 TAC version, something we surmised would happen but actually looks to be happening now. This is such a great figure and a wise decision on Hasbro's part. Click through for the full photo!

Review: Yoda - Vinyl Collectible Doll

Posted by Paul | October 04, 2010 at 01:05 AM EDT |

The Vinyl Collectible Dolls line is not too popular with the mainstream collectors, but Medicom Toy nonetheless made some very impressive figures. Research Droids Reviews looks at one of their best and wonders if more will be forthcoming. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Don't forget we accept requests so e-mail us and be sure to vote in our poll at the bottom of the review with your opinion before leaving!

TVC Clone Trooper - Some Encouraging Tweaks Found

Posted by Paul | October 02, 2010 at 07:12 PM EDT |

If you've read our Research Droids Review on the new The Vintage Collection Clone Trooper (VC15) figure, you learned that the belts have been installed upside-down. We just found samples today where the belt is placed right side up and not only that, the yellowing in the helmet is gone as well in these same samples! We need to find a few more out there before we can make a judgment call, but this is very reassuring at the moment. Click through to check it out!

Hasbro: The Anatomy Of An Apology

Posted by Paul | October 02, 2010 at 06:50 PM EDT |

You've read our previous report about when we contacted Hasbro about the Rocket-Firing Boba Fett debacle when the product arrived severely damaged to many collectors. And despite what we were told by Hasbro directly (that they would be unable to replace them unless the actual figures were damaged), we were amazed to find a special delivery on our doorsteps today. Click through to learn more about this amazing gesture.

Saga Legends Running Change Darth Vader Hitting!

Posted by Paul | October 02, 2010 at 06:35 PM EDT |

Found! We found the "running change variant" Darth Vader from the Saga Legends line that our friends at Yakface.com first reported earlier this week. The 2005 500th Darth Vader is now shipping in place of the 2008 BD 8 figure (which is truly a shame). This new Vader is shipping alongside the Battle Droids and are hitting very heavily now. Click through for a close-up shot!

Found! Fixed Battle Droid 2-Pack Found All Over!

Posted by Paul | October 02, 2010 at 06:30 PM EDT |

Found! We found the "fixed eyes" Battle Droids two-pack from the Saga Legends line that our friends at Yakface.com first reported earlier this week. These upgraded figures are hitting quite hard at every retail location and are well worth the money especially since they're now fixed. Click through for a close-up shot!

Review: Freeco Speeder With Obi-Wan Kenobi

Posted by Paul | October 02, 2010 at 12:20 AM EDT |

Research Droids Reviews gently loathes a Deluxe vehicle with figure that is "loosely" based on a scene in Season 1 of The Clone Wars. How does it rate? Well, we're afraid that our assessment is harsh. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Don't forget we accept requests so e-mail us and be sure to vote in our poll at the bottom of the review with your opinion before leaving!
