Review: [Realistic] Ahsoka - TVC - VC102 [The Way TCW Needs To Go!]

Posted by Paul | October 01, 2012 at 12:02 AM ET |

Here we go folks! This is the new look to The Clone Wars line for collectors, so you better get used to it. Ahsoka is proof positive that Hasbro should completely abandon the animated The Clone Wars line altogether and go realistic! Ahsoka is brilliant and we can't wait to see what's in store for more realistically styled The Clone Wars characters in collector focused lines! See why Ahsoka is a must-have in our Research Droids Reviews today! Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

A Little Short For A Clone Pilot?!

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2012 at 09:20 PM ET |

JTA reader lord_varion sends us a comparison picture of the Clone Pilot that comes packed with the Republic Dropship and The Clone Wars Clone Pilot Odd Ball. The size difference is quite surprising. Yes, the Dropship pilot is a phase II clone, but that shouldn't matter at all. Click through to see the comparison and be sure to add your two cents in our comments!

Five Below Getting Restocked With Wave 4 Of The Vintage Collection?!

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2012 at 08:59 PM ET |

Nine (9) months ago we brought you the very first online report of The Vintage Collection wave 4 figures being found at Five Below stores. While the stock has sold through for the most part, we have just received a report from JTA Robert V. from Maryland that his local store has restocked on this very same wave! If you still need these figures (hard to believe at this point), be sure to head out to this discount chain!

Anakin, Sandtrooper And Boba Fett.... Oh My!!!

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2012 at 07:42 PM ET |

OK, here is something very interesting. As an update to our Movie Heroes "Where's Anakin?" post yesterday, JTA reader Mats J. writes in from Sweden to let us know of a pre-order at German site The Toy Palace. Not only is the Anakin Skywalker figure included in this wave assortment, it also includes the Sandtrooper and Boba Fett figures shown in Hasbro's recent Power Point presentation. (And we think that's the new Battle Droid figure too, but we're not 100% sure about that.) What is especially odd is that online etailers like Entertainment Earth do not even have this item up for pre-order, which is due on October 31st! Click through to see this proof yourself. But we wonder what is going to happen with these figures?! (If you even care that is.)

Avert Aftermarket Mania - Never Hesitate When You Have A Chance!

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2012 at 04:45 PM ET |

Special thanks to JTA moderator Bombadgungan for his recent research on eBay. We were shocked to see average auction prices for the second wave of the red phase of the Legacy Collection! This was the ROTJ-focused wave of the line, also known as wave 9 overall. Take a look at what these figures go for today, and one of them, the gray Ugnaught, at the moment isn't even found! This should advise you to never pass on a figure when you see it. Otherwise, instances like this may be your only options! Hint: get the TVC wave 16 ROTJ figures immediately! Pre-order them now at one of our sponsors!

Review: Lumat - TVC - VC104

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2012 at 12:08 AM ET |

Well, after years of mass confusion, Lucasfilm has officially deemed the original vintage Kenner Lumat as the ACTUAL Lumat character! We try to spell it all out, but even we got confused over all the Ewoks that throughout the years that have been referred to as Lumat. Thank goodness something from the 80s has stuck! This also means that all the original vintage Kenner Ewoks have finally been modernized with acceptable articulation and sculpting standards! See this and more as we look at the last Return Of The Jedi figure in the final wave of The Vintage Collection in our Research Droids Reviews today! Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! What Is The Status Of Republic Commandos Near You?

Posted by Paul | September 29, 2012 at 07:51 PM ET |

We periodically get emails asking about availability of the Star Wars: Republic Commando (Delta Squad) Toys R Us multipack. Once in a while our readers have stated that they can still find this in their local stores, while others say it hasn't been around in over a year! (The latter is true in the Philly area.) And if you judge the prices on Amazon, it seems like this is one hot commodity! Whatever your status is, eBayer tunghori has all four Republic Commandos in stock in addition to the Geonosian Warrior that's exclusive to the set. Click on any thumbnail to be taken to the auctions and see if you can secure them this way. Many collectors don't seem to realize that these figures are major retools of the Evolutions figure. These are the ONLY Republic Commando action figures on the market with ball-jointed shoulders.... a most necessary point of articulation. Read more details about them in our review found HERE.

Review: Weequay - TVC - VC107

Posted by Paul | September 28, 2012 at 05:57 AM ET |

One of our absolute favorite figures from the final wave of The Vintage Collection is Weequay. While he's evidently not flawless, he is probably the most awaited modern update we've been wanting to see for years. Hasbro just wouldn't stop using that 1997 sculpt even as late as 2008! See why you'll want multiples of him in our Research Droids Reviews right now! Posted by Paul | September 27, 2012 at 05:38 PM ET |

You've seen our advanced look at the final wave of The Vintage Collection. Now the figures are beginning to hit eBay from international sellers. The prices are of course ridiculously funny at the moment, but keep checking back and as time moves forward, so will the prices move downward. Provided here are links for the Emperor's Royal Guard, Nien Nunb, Republic Trooper (The Old Republic), Ahsoka and Lumat! At least check them out!

Nien Nunb? Or Nien Not?

Posted by Paul | September 27, 2012 at 09:25 AM ET |

So, Nien Nunb is the focused figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. While working on the review, we couldn't help but recall the Nien Nunb figure we received in 2009's Legacy Collection, the one in the B-wing Pilot uniform. The debates are still ongoing. Is that Nien Nunb? We have a case to make and we want your feedback on it. Click through for more.

INCREDIBLE UPDATE: While working on this article, our friend Chris from BanthaSkull.com was busy posting some other great reference photos in our RDR on Nien Nunb! Please find them now added to this article!

Review: Nien Nunb - TVC - VC106

Posted by Paul | September 27, 2012 at 05:13 AM ET |

It's fantastic to finally have a super-articulated Nien Nunb figure, but he not only needs some height, but he also needs some revised paint operations on the head sculpt. Surely to be one of the most controversial and debated figures in all of The Vintage Collection, see why we love Nien Nunb despite his flaws. It's all in full detail in our Research Droids Reviews right this second. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Review: Emperor's Royal Guard - TVC - VC105

Posted by Paul | September 26, 2012 at 05:57 AM ET |

Hasbro has produced a "definitive for now" Emperor's Royal Guard figure in The Vintage Collection. It's a lot of fun and it has incredible interchangeability, but will it be fully embraced by Original Trilogy purists (we're not so sure about that)? You saw our sneak peek of the final wave of The Vintage Collection earlier, but now we make our way through the marathon figure by figure daily in our Research Droids Reviews starting right now. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Her courage and compassion deeply affected those around her, and was the pivotal legacy she gave to her children, Luke and Leia. While Queen of Naboo, Padmé stood up against the Trade Federation’s siege of her planet. As a Senator, Padmé fought to keep the Republic from falling into war. Her last act was to give birth to the twins who would fulfill her legacy by restoring peace to the galaxy. Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi - SW [SOTDS] - Saga Legends (SL12)

Posted by Paul | September 24, 2012 at 12:10 AM ET |

Here is another Saga Legends figure from 2010. But Obi-Wan Kenobi was actually released with two unique action figures in the same exact packaging (one was significantly better than the other). Simple enough, huh? Just a running change, right?! WRONG! There is more to this tale than meets the eye. It's preplexing, it's interesting and it's completely useless trivia that you'll probably never have the need to use again, but it's all part of our Research Droids Reviews today, so check it all out anyway! Review: Cad Bane - SW [TPM 3D] - The Clone Wars (CW4)

Posted by Paul | September 22, 2012 at 12:28 AM ET |

The kids' lines have taken a completely different approach, much to the chagrin of collectors. Hasbro is now bringing older sculpts with less articulation into The Clone Wars and Movie Heroes lines and it is making most collectors sad. Check out an older sculpt of Cad Bane, resurrected for the 2012 phase of The Clone Wars line. He comes with a whole bunch of extra accessories. Will that matter to you? Visual Guide Update - Rebel Pilot Legacy - TLC

Posted by Chuck | September 21, 2012 at 06:25 PM ET |

The legacy of Rebel pilots is one of uncompromising independence and gritty determination. These are the pilots who crushed the Empire and became the architects of the elite squadrons to come. Dorovio Bold flies an X-wing at the Battle of Yavin, going cannon-to-cannon against Imperial fighters. During the Battle of Hoth, Wes Janson toppled an AT-AT walker with a skillfully unorthodox maneuver. Ten Numb helped achieve victory at the Battle of Endor flying a weapons-packed B-wing. From hotshots to heroes, Alliance pilots built a legacy that has given birth to countless tales of glory throughout the galaxy. You can see each one from this Evolutions set in the Visual Guide below! And, you can read an in-depth report in our Research Droids Review!

The Rebels are victorious over the evil Empire, but their fragile new Alliance is in jeopardy. A Hiromi spy secretly instigates a misunderstanding between the EwoksThe legacy of the Rebel Alliance pilots is one of outstanding courage and noble commitment. They emerged from a darkened galaxy to reawaken hope—from the formation of the gallant Rogue Squadron that included doomed Cesi “Doc” Eirriss, to the Battle of Hoth in which Kesin Ommis took aim as a snowspeeder pilot in defense of Echo Base, and at the Battle of Endor, where veteran pilot Keyan Farlander harried enemy fighters and helped bring down an Empire. Help Get Vlix Oncard On A Card!! You Can Help!

Posted by Paul | September 18, 2012 at 08:38 AM ET |

My longtime pal and relatively new (me not him) esteemed colleague Adam Pawlus is responsible for spearheading a few incredible things for Star Wars collectors (except for the Skittles-colored Mandalorians and "Booba" Fetts which I have already forgiven him for - love ya Adam) and now he is reaching out to the collecting community to see if maybe the ball can get rolling for a vintage Kenner action figure (that is next to impossible - and much too expensive - to buy for your collection) can be modernized. For years Adam has desperately wanted a Vlix action figure made in the modern line and in "vintage" packaging preferably. We stand alongside him in this wish and we are reaching out to our readers to help him along with his quest. Please check out the FIN section (after you read his Q&A) and see how you can get involved to make Vlix a reality. We're behind you Adam and are praying that he becomes a reality one day too. Hasbro: Give us Vlix Oncard "on" a "card".

You Absolutely Just Never Know What You Are Going To Find Anymore....

Exclusive Darth Maul Returns Battle Packs Set Also On Sale For $18!

It's a smaller savings, but this means each figure will only cost you $6.00, proof that Hasbro can manage two new figures and a repack and make it VERY worthwhile for collectors. The 2007 VTSC Bossk (Bounty Hunter) is sublime. Nothing can really make it better. Hasbro just needs to keep releasing it. Revisiting The Geonosis Arena Showdown TARGET Exclusives

Posted by Paul | September 11, 2012 at 09:54 AM ET |

One of the best exclusive lines ever produced by Hasbro was overlooked by many collectors. Even though most collectors were aware of them, they didn't sell nearly as fast as they should have. For the most part, TARGET was clever and unwilling to clearance them out (aside from a few different promotional prices) at their brick and mortar stores. It ended up becoming a wise decision because they eventually sold through in stores at regular price. We feel obligated to express again... years after the fact.... why the Geonosis Arena Showdown series is a must for those who collect characters based on all films. We went the extra mile for you and provided quick hit tips on each set. But the bigger bonus is that we've added all-new photo galleries for each set making the gallery size double and even quadruple in some instances. Please click through to view our commentary and links to the individual reviews on each set. See why you need these stellar two-packs.

Posted by Paul | September 08, 2012 at 12:08 AM ET |

Not one of the finest in the Order 66 exclusive lineup, it still is worthy of purchase thanks to the included super-articulated AT-RT Driver. Review: BARC Trooper - TLC - Saga Legends (SL 18)

Posted by Paul | September 02, 2012 at 12:11 AM ET |

The BARC Trooper is a personal favorite action figure of ours. It's a character from the Star Wars: Purge comics that made its debut in the Order 66 (Series 2) TARGET exclusive. While it has a simple design, it nonetheless just looks fantastic. See this figure in detail in the Research Droids Reviews database right now! Posted by Paul | September 01, 2012 at 09:46 PM ET |

It's been a very crazy year for collectors who loved The Vintage Collection, hasn't it? Not knowing when stuff would actually hit retail (most of it still hasn't yet) has been frustrating, annoying and downright upsetting. Even though Hasbro promises good change is forthcoming, with all of the chaos this year, we thought a brief guide of what has been released in the basic figure line this year will help to recap where we are and where we're headed. Also, hopefully this can catch you up on some of our Research Droids Reviews for any figures you may have missed in the midst of the debacle. Click through for more....
