DENIED! (Does It Even Matter At This Point?)

Posted by Paul | August 30, 2015 at 07:35 PM ET |

Disney/Hasbro has had plenty of time to "clean up the mess" with all of the broken street dates across the country. Maybe it's working, but we are still hearing too many reports of cashiers "forcing" the product through the registers. However, JTA reader Paul V. was DENIED at Walmart and he was very disappointed because he found it all! We're only days away from the madness and it seems very few of us can wait much longer!

The Black Series Han Solo Variation Discovered!

Posted by Paul | August 29, 2015 at 12:07 AM ET |

With the flurry of activity the last couple of weeks, some of the more daily things have fallen to the wayside. As a result, we think we missed an important newly discovered detail. JTA reader Brian B. alerts us to a relevant variation to The Black Series 3.75" Han Solo figure. Newer versions of the figure are showing up with blue irises while the earliest samples are "without" the blue detail (and are just plain brown). We haven't heard or seen this announced anywhere, so this may be news for most.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser Poster... Where Is It At?

Posted by Chuck | August 28, 2015 at 02:08 PM ET |

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser one-sheet came and went through Disney Rewards pretty fast (but only as a reward item), but has yet to be officially put up for sale. Why not? Right now, the only place to find this is on eBay, but you have to make sure you don't get a reproduction (which are already running rampant). Luckily, the prices have dropped to reasonable, sub-$75 levels for an authentic one. But the question remains... why have we not been able to buy this yet from an official source! It's looking more and more like we won't have this option with the official one-sheet due out any time, so now might might be a good time to consider picking up the teaser poster! I myself have still been unable to secure this!

Could These Figures Be Coming Soon In The 3.75" SA Collector Line?

Posted by Paul | August 27, 2015 at 07:58 PM ET |

We have just received some interesting news about 11 figures that may be part of the super-articulated collector-focused line in the future. This doesn't mean Force Friday and it doesn't even mean that these will comprise the first wave. Some may have even been nixed with all of the recent transition the Hasbro line has experienced this year. We just have learned that sculpts have been completed for the following supposedly. At the moment, not all characters have been slotted. As with anything, confirmation from Hasbro is required until you should take it as fact. Click through for more.

TARGET Exclusive TBS6 2-Pack Won't Be Available Force Friday

Posted by Paul | August 27, 2015 at 06:57 PM ET |

Our insiders have let us know that there are ZERO on order and ZERO in stock. It will likely be a Black Friday/Christmas exclusive (but that's just a guess right now). It may be true that many of the items that have been part of these leaked lists may not all be available on September 4th, so keep everything in check.

The Vintage Collection Wave 1: Values Coming Down; Act Now!

Posted by Paul | August 27, 2015 at 05:09 PM ET |

We were all pretty amazed by the value of 2012's TVC Ahsoka figure. In the last year or so, wave 1 of The Vintage Collection was skyrocketing too. While some figures definitely command a premium still, we were perhaps more surprised by how many of the past high market values have plummeted significantly. Check out these auctions and see if you can fill any holes with these recent price drops! Click any thumbnial below to be taken to that figure's auctions.

Jedi Insider has just posted a new rumor report regarding Toys R Us exclusives. They confirm our BREAKING NEWS original report back from July about a 6" Blue Trooper, but the new news is that there is rumored to be a repaint of the 6" TIE Fighter with Pilot, but we honestly believe it might be the 3.75" scaled version as we reported in our RUMOR REPORT found HERE. Have The Recent Reveals Affected Where You Will Be Force Friday?

Posted by Paul | August 21, 2015 at 01:41 PM ET |

Now that all of us have seen what is part of Force Friday on September 4th (through all the various leaks), we want to know has this influenced you in any way on how you will be spending the day. Many of us have scheduled PTO to attend this event, but with the, frankly, lackluster reveals it appears that there just isn't product for the longtime collector.... yet. Putting aside any unconfirmed rumors (like the retail exclusive 3.75" super-articulated line) and without resorting to calling the product launch "Farce Friday", please let us know in our comments if you still plan to wait in line at midnight on September 3rd. What will you be buying if you do go? If you have kids, will you use this as a big event to introduce them to Star Wars? And please confirm with us that Hasbro's offering will not affect or alter your excitement for Episode VII. If you're claiming that The Force Awakens line is stealing your joy of Star Wars, then you have problems that we are unable to assist you with.... of course the Hasbro reveals are disappointing, but this is all about a film franchise. The toy line only accentuates that.

He had a massive collection of T-shirts, jackets, caps and knits that have been either lightly used or are new. Graciously, John Terpkosh will be sending these items out FREE of charge (including the shipping costs) to domestic JTA readers because he knows Mark would want these to end up in the hands of a brother or sister in the Force and not on some yard sale table. If you're international, you may need to have a discussion with him about covering shipping costs, but please show interest either way. To make things easy for John, please click on any thumbnail of the item you're interested in and copy and past the link in your correspondence to John. This way he can identify the item in question. Please contact John directly at [email protected] for further information. You can click through to see what items are available.

UPDATE: All of Mark's items have been claimed. Thank you for all that reached out!

The Black Series 3.75" Figures For 99¢ At Walgreens!

Posted by Paul | August 19, 2015 at 08:43 AM ET |

JTA reader ldfipps sends us an unbelievable store find: The Black Series 3.75" figures for 99¢! They were all sold out by the time he got there, but all of you should probably check your local Walgreens and see just how low they'll go!

If you live in the Davenport IA area, we highly suggest checking your local retailers that sell Star Wars figures. But even if you don't, it may be the right time for all of us to check retail fro The Black Series line (both scales). JTA reader Aaren A. sends us multiple reports from Walmart and Walgreens showing just how much of retail's attention span has been lost on The Black Series in order to prep for The Force Awakens line! CONFIRMED: TBS-Quality 3.75" Figures To Become Big Box Exclusives

Posted by Paul | August 17, 2015 at 09:21 PM ET |

Take this rumor with a grain of salt if you'd like until Hasbro confirms it themselves, but we have received "confirmation" to OUR ORIGINAL RUMOR REPORT back in April that The Black Series 3.75" line will indeed be a Big Box store exclusive. What we're not so sure of if this means a single retail location or multiple Big Box stores (Walmart, TARGET, Toys R Us etc,) So this could be really good or really bad news. With the recent reveal of The Black Series 3.75" showing up on the new Walmart planogram by our friends at Yakface.com, it appears that Walmart is at least ONE safe bet (just an assumption). But Toys R Us also SCREAMS "exclusive retailer" too based on their claims to be "the" source for The Force Awakens merchandise. However, we have been unable to obtain any more details than "Big Box". Of particular note, still no announcements or further rumors on that fabled "The Chrome Collection" yet either. It will be interesting to see if TBS does indeed turn into TCC. Let the specualtions begin!

Today's item for review has been bequeathed to Jedi Temple Archives from the estate of Mark Grimshaw, aka studlydudly. We're honored to present it to you today. The Death Star Trash Compactor (Luke Skywalker & Han Solo) (1 of 2) Screen Scenes set is a marvel. See why it's a "must own" purchase in our Research Droids Reviews today! Proof That Super-Articulated The Force Awakens Figures Are Coming?

Posted by Paul | August 16, 2015 at 02:57 PM ET |

It's evident that most of the community is in panic mode over the lack of super-articulated 3.75" reveals (and a great deal of attacking one another over what everyone should like or not like – but that's another article). With all the stuff that has leaked thus far, it's honestly a little perplexing that we still haven't seen any collector grade 3.75" figures seen or teased. However, one of our readers, who has asked to remain anonymous (and we will respect that), opened up a customer service ticket and got a very interesting response from Hasbro Customer Service. While I personally find it suspect (since Hasbro Marketing people at the various conventions could only say "no comment to every TFA question) that this customer service rep gave THIS MUCH detail, there is no doubt it alleviates some of my own personal concerns. BUT. I still feel we will just have to wait until 9/4 to see if this is actually true. Click through for this MUST READ interaction with Hasbro

Retail Begins Preparing For Force Friday Deluge

Posted by Paul | August 11, 2015 at 09:20 PM ET |

In case you've had no reason to visit your local TARGET for Star Wars figures for approximately the last three years like I have, you may not be aware that essentially all of their Star Wars sections are disappearing. They're being broken down and remaining items are being out on clearance in a special section elsewhere in the store, or on the end caps like this store has done. This of course is in full anticipation of Force Friday. Walmart stores are doing similar things as well now too. Special thanks to JTA reader Mike R. for the photo.

SOTDS Vehicle Two-Packs Now Found At Chuck E. Cheese!

Posted by Paul | August 11, 2015 at 09:15 PM ET |

As JTA reader John W. wrote in his email to me, apparently the "Shadow Of The Dark Side" vehicles have indeed ended up everywhere at some point. This particular find was at a Chuck E. Cheese in Louisville KY. What a shame the failure of this vehicle assortment apparently became. They were all awesome and mostly made the last of the non-dumbed down vehicles for 3.75" figures. (Not including what may show up for Force Friday of course....)

The Black Series Episode VII Bootleg Figures Hit eBay!

Posted by Paul | August 08, 2015 at 05:41 PM ET |

Well, I'd be lying if I didn't think these eBay finds were interesting. An eBay seller from Malaysia has found three bootleg The Black Series Episode VII figures in Cambodia and has put them up for sale. If that wasn't a tall enough tale, the three figures look like all-new sculpts and, get ready for this, are loaded with premium ball-jointed articulation unlike the 5POA figures Hasbro makes! Does anyone else find it odd that bootleg figures, which should cost next to nothing to make, are actually better than the Hasbro figures in terms of articulation? Notice the odd light-up feature too!

UPDATE: We have just learned these are actually 6" figures, hence the super-articulation.

If you recall, the biggest announcement by Lucasfilm in years that a new Star Wars was made in the middle of Hurricane Sandy. As one of the many people affected by it (thank goodness I just lost power for about a week and nothing else), I missed all of the social media posts and official online announcements. I only found out about it via texts from friends. Star Wars passion was once again invigorated to new levels with this news and the joy and cheer could be felt across the Star Wars community. Collectors in particular were already beginning to get excited for new Star Wars toys and we thought the new film couldn’t come soon enough. (more....)

Force Friday Street Dated Boxes Arriving To Brick And Mortar!

Posted by Paul | August 05, 2015 at 05:17 PM ET |

Look what we found! Star Wars product is beginning to arrive at stores like TARGET and Walmart. Keep your eyes peeled for leaks everyone!

OK, this is meant to be a mindless "fun" article. This started out in another comment thread, but we think it would make great front page banter. When the THX versions of the Star Wars films were released on VHS, Lucasfilm did something special with the covers: assigning one character to "represent" the film. Now with the release of the Steelbook Blu-ray versions, history is once again repeating itself. We want to know who you think best deserves to represent Episode I through Episode VI on the cover of their respective media releases. Some choices are simple, but some are much more difficult. Feel free to list your own choices in our comments!

Review: Sio Bibble - EI - Basic

Posted by Paul | August 05, 2015 at 08:32 AM ET |

It's believed that Sio Bibble is one of the rarest modern figures of all time. But whether that is accurate or not, there is no doubt that this action figure was more of a myth in 2000 than an actually existing action figure. Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today! Posted by Paul | August 03, 2015 at 11:57 AM ET |

This discussion has really taken off and been shared multiple times on our Facebook page, so we thought we'd bring it to the JTA front page. It's likely to cause heated debates and discussions, so please remember to be respectful to others and agree to disagree before the nastiness comes out! Sure to be controversial on so many levels, an author at Tech Times has asserted that The Clone Wars and Rebels are the best Star Wars material in 30 years. Your thoughts?

Congratulations And Thank You, Adam Pawlus!

Posted by Paul | August 01, 2015 at 04:06 PM ET |

Although we often share different opinions from one another, I wanted to take a moment and honor the massive body of work by colleague Adam Pawlus. He has added more to the Star Wars collecting community than perhaps you realize. Not only is this the 20 year anniversary of The Power Of The Force "2" line, this month also celebrates 20 years of Adam's contributions to Star Wars fans... while he was a youngster. Without him, many people on the fan sites you currently read wouldn't be here, me included. Thank you Adam for the tremendous and selfless additions you have made to the hobby. Read about his rich history (as well as getting death threats) by clicking through.
