We Told You He Was All-New Since Day One - Here Is Your Proof

Posted by Paul | June 30, 2015 at 11:50 PM ET |

[sarcasm] For those of you who have been in denial since it was revealed, like my good friend Rum Sleg believed, that the Jabba's Rancor Pit Jabba The Hutt is NOT an all-new figure, well, we can direct you to unequivocal proof that this is true now. GalacticHunter.com has comparison shots of the 2010 Jabba versus the ALL-NEW 2015 Jabba The Hutt. You're welcome. [/sarcasm] (We say this all with a smile.)

UPDATE: This post is sarcasm and humorously in good fun directed to longtime JTA friend Rum Sleg with whom I had an entertaining back and forth with whether or not this Jabba was new. Some have taken offense to it, so apologies if that applies. I honestly don't jibe anyone that I don't genuinely like and respect. Please don't take our posts so seriously. Instead, rejoice that we have an all-new Jabba!

Our "Rumor Report" On The Black Series 6" Now Confirmed!

Posted by Paul | June 28, 2015 at 12:08 PM ET |

We told you the proof of our BREAKING NEWS report was forthcoming almost a week ago.... and here it is. We feel this newly confirmed information should definitely affect how you vote for The Black Series 6" Fans' Choice poll. Of course nothing is 100% until confirmed by Hasbro, but this is the next best thing. As you can see, "CW Captain" does NOT have the same product number as Clone Commander Cody and we can't imagine ANYTHING else being called "Episode III Gene" other than General Grievous. C-3PO and Jango Fett are obviously self-explanatory. Lastly, while we were hoping for a Clone Commander or Clone Lieutenant, the Episode II Clone Trooper in this list has the same product number as the Clone Trooper Captain. Click the image for all of the juicy tidbits. Out of respect to our source, we blacked out information that could possibly spill too much information. By the way, we have no idea what Black Series 6 Inch Figure with product code A4301 could be since A4301 is the assortment number for this entire line.

You might be tired of Sideshow's clones like we are, but we have to admit that ARC Clone Trooper: Echo (Phase II Armor) is incredible and a perfect template for future ARC troopers from The Clone Wars television show. See this beautiful figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Tell Us How You Feel About The Hasbro Fans' Choice TBS6 Poll!

Posted by Paul | June 27, 2015 at 12:09 PM ET |

We've been in overdrive organizing this poll that we haven't even opened up a discussion about your thoughts on it. While some of you have directly voted your disdain for this Fans' Choice Poll (midichlorians was a choice,so was "why isn't there a 3.75" poll?"), we thought we'd publish a second article for you to address, complain or just generally talk about this history changing Fan's Choice poll. On your mark, get set, GO!

Review: Darth Maul - R - Hero Series (12-Inch Figure)

Posted by Paul | June 20, 2015 at 01:10 AM ET |

The Hero Series Darth Maul 12-Inch Figure is surprisingly very nice. Sia Anjirs = Black Figure (Or The Black Series)

Posted by Paul | June 18, 2015 at 10:36 PM ET |

Truth is DEFINITELY stranger than fiction. The code has been cracked.... partially! Sia Anjirs = The Black Series (or technically it means "Black Figure") and we have a reader who has figured it out! While at my local Toys R Us, I couldn't help but notice a familiar name on a shelf tag which sported one of the names on the BREAKING NEWS posted list we published yesterday. But hanging from the shelf was Luminara Unduli. You can see it has The Black Series assortment number. When I scanned Luminara Unduli from The Black Series line, this is what came up on the price scanner too. The "top secret" stuff is leaking into the daily business! We have to publicly thank JTA reader "mike" who speaks Farsia (a derivative of the Persian language) who was able to figure out that this strange code is actually words from that foreign language and what some of those crazy words meant on that product listing. Obviously we're not going to be able to figure it all out before SDCC, but as we find out more we will certainly update our original article!

We have the last two basic figures from the Legacy Collection [2] run: R2-D2 and TIE Fighter Pilot. Click below for the full Visual Guides! We also reviewed all of the figures from this wave right here in our Research Droids Reviews.

BREAKING NEWS: New The Force Awakens Toy Details Revealed!

Posted by Paul | June 17, 2015 at 06:05 PM ET |

We'll preface this immediately by saying that potential MAJOR SPOILERS apply should you choose to click through. We have character and/or vehicle names and details that you may not want to know about yet from screen shots we saw with our own eyes. Now, this may be code, or it may be actual things from the movie. We will have to wait find out for sure of course. So if you don't want to know anything about Episode 7 and/or the corresponding Hasbro line, please don't click through. But between the combined efforts of our local Bothans (who have since died after intercepting this information) and our Research Droids hacking into all the local computer systems (who have since short-circuited), we have a pretty sizable list of what you can expect for The Force Awakens toy launch this September 4th. We also have isolated data explaining what some of these things are (like 6", 3.75" vehicles or role-play). As always, take everything you see with a grain of salt until Hasbro officially announces it themselves. Enjoy!

Review: Princess Leia Organa (Boushh) - TBS [P2] - #16

Posted by Paul | June 16, 2015 at 12:55 AM ET |

It's YOUR fault why The Black Series [Phase II] Princess Leia Organa (Boushh) 6" figure is gargantuan next to the "other" Princess Leia 6" figure they made in 2013. (Is it just us or why is EVERY Princess Leia figure they make so controversial?) Find out why we're to blame for this figure's abnormally large size. It's a shame, because it is rather excellent otherwise. It's all in our Research Droids Reviews today. Ugly White Inserts Confirmed For European TBS Packaging

Posted by Chuck | June 10, 2015 at 10:52 AM ET |

It looks like it's official. The rumored inserts (originally reported over at StarWarsFiguren.com) for European packaging is a reality. Solicitations have started going out to buyers and European versions of the card backs (at least from the final wave) will not only have a different name plate on the front than their U.S. counterparts, but a very unattractive white paper multi-language insert behind the figure. Which begs the question... If the U.S. packaging now has multi-language text on the front, why does the European versions have different multi-language text on the front? Click the images below for a closer look!

A big thanks to JTA insider Fulcrum for the heads-up on this!

Stormtrooper Becomes #08, Commander Thorn Becomes #15, #21 Axed

Posted by Paul | June 07, 2015 at 04:56 PM ET |

In case you missed our Twitter, Facebook or Instagram post on this, we can confirm that we were correct about our presumption that Commander Thorn would move from #21 to #15 to make up the gap that the Stormtrooper (#08) left when he replaced the cancelled Princess Leia (Yavin Ceremony) figure.

BREAKING NEWS: The Black Series Becomes The Chrome Collection?

Posted by Paul | June 07, 2015 at 04:42 PM ET |

Well, according to this screen cap image it certainly looks that way! Keep in mind that there is no doubt that Jabba's Rancor Pit will come in TBS [P2] packaging. There is a lot going on in this post, so let's distill the most important points. Firstly, we have secured an image of the new Toys R Us Jabba's Rancor Pit from a Toys R Us computer with all of the important details. You should note that the Jabba shown in the picture is NOT the Jabba in the set. They inadvertently show the 2004 Star Wars "Saga" Ultra figure instead. They also don't show the rancor. More importantly, notice the way this exclusive is described: Star Wars Chrome Collection. There are no "The Black Series" descriptors on the screen at all. Maybe this means nothing. Maybe The Black Series will continue and the Chrome Collection refers to that rumored retailer exclusive line. It doesn't appear that Toys R Us uses this term to describe their exclusives, despite a chrome TRU sticker on them. Could this be the new collector-focused line name for September 2015? We're inclined to say yes to that. Obviously we will know nothing until Hasbro reveals it themselves, but it's interesting to say the least! Leave your thoughts in our comments! Remember from our last post, the Jabba's Rancor Pit multipack won't be available in stores. We hope that changes after SDCC!

JTA has come across some confidential plans regarding Toys R Us and San Diego Comic Con. We have images of the plans but will not post it due to the unknown secrecy of them. We will however outline what's contained within them. From reading these plans we're convinced of one thing. Toys R Us is committed to the collector market. And they are demanding exclusives that befit us from vendors like Hasbro. This information will all become public on June 25, 2015, but why not find out what's gong down now? Interested? Then click through for more.

With special thanks to the combined effort of our friends at Jedi News and Yakface for bringing this to our attention, we were able to locate the revised The Black Series [Phase II] Luke Skywalker [Wampa Attack] (#02) figure with correctly colored elbow joints. All we can say is that it makes a huge difference on the figure.

Review: Mosep Binneed - TBS [P2] - #18

Posted by Paul | June 07, 2015 at 12:01 AM ET |

We have an exclusive first look at The Black Series [Phase II] wave 8 for you: the wave that should have started off the line instead of being the "last" one! He is one of only four (4) Original Trilogy "never before offered" characters in The Black Series line (both phases). How sad does that sound? But Mosep Binneed was a long-awaited action figure that has totally exceeded our expectations. Canceled TBS [P1] AT-RT Driver Card Back Revealed!

Posted by Paul | June 04, 2015 at 06:06 PM ET |

And here is the AT-RT Driver (#30) The Black Series [Phase I] card back art, also found by Mauricio M. in the My Little Pony section of Hasbro's website! If you missed it, be sure to check out the Republic Commando card back art HERE. See the AT-RT Driver's product details by clicking through!

Here is a pretty neat post! If you recall, back on January 22, 2014, JTA posted a rumor report of the figures that would make up wave 4 and wave 5 of The Black Series [Phase I] lineup. Curiously, multiple The Vintage Collection repacks were part of these assortments, but some ultimately never got released; including Republic Trooper and AT-RT Driver. Since then, loose promotional images have surfaced proving that they were planned, but no packaging ever reared its ugly head. Through some inexplicable search, JTA reader Mauricio M. directed our attention to this link of an image of the Republic Trooper TBS card back art in the middle of Hasbro's Play-Doh page. This is as big as the image gets, but at least conclusive proof now exists that this was to be the #31st figure in the lineup. If you look carefully, this image shows a card back that hasn't even been die cut yet. Maybe these figures are locked in a warehouse somewhere and will be released two years later too! (We kid!) Seriously though, hopefully Hasbro will do right by collectors and get this figure out for us once and for all! Click through for the text on the product page. (We saved the image and text here in case Hasbro gets wind of this and decides to take the page down.)

Review: Emperor Palpatine - TBS [P2] - Six Inch Figures (#11)

Posted by Paul | June 04, 2015 at 01:10 AM ET |

The Black Series 6" Emperor Palpatine is not that bad, but you probably won't be able to get past the fact that we still don't have a modern definitive update to the 1984 vintage Kenner release yet in 3.75" scale. Should you punish this figure because of that? See what you think of him in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Battle On Endor - TBS [P2] - Toys R Us Exclusive

Posted by Paul | June 01, 2015 at 09:21 AM ET |

June is The Black Series and Rebels "catch up" month. Star Wars collecting has been a little dull lately, so hopefully new products will make it a little more interesting. We start off with the Toys R Us exclusive Battle On Endor set. This multipack makes us so mad! But we have to be honest and say that there are positives and negatives in it. The Stormtrooper is "newish", the AT-ST can stand unassisted now and there are figures in this set that have never looked as bad as they do now. You see, it's all over the map. Learn more in this controversial review in our Research Droids Reviews today.. FlashBack Reviews Column Goes On Summer Vacation

Posted by Paul | June 01, 2015 at 09:10 AM ET |

Thank you for the incredible reception of our FlashBack Reviews. It's really just a "fancy" way for me to let you know that I am updating our galleries, reviews and collector notes (and so forth) on the best (and sometimes worst) Star Wars collectibles money can buy. FlashBack Reviews will be "closed" from June through August, returning on September 1st. There are multiple things happening which will (are) keep (keeping) me occupied including a huge Star Wars project (collector based) sanctioned by Lucasfilm Ltd. of which I am part of and hope to announce soon. Because of this, I have to cut back on something before I croak, besides, it's summer. Please know I am not cancelling this column. Check out FlashBack Reviews again this September 1st! Please note this will have no effect on our Research Droids Reviews column.
