Review: Darth Maul - POTJ - Mega Action

Posted by Paul | December 18, 2014 at 08:21 AM EDT |

Did you know that The Black Series wasn't the first 6" line from Hasbro? It actually was planned as early as the Episode I line. But those plans were shelved and it eventually was released under the Power Of The Jedi line as Mega Action figures. We look at the Darth Maul figure first. See the 6" roots to our current 6" line in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Star Wars Action News - Episode 438: Tarkin 'Bout Toys

Posted by Chuck | December 17, 2014 at 05:09 PM EDT |

It's been a long time since Star Wars action figure collectors could shop exclusively at their local brick-and-mortar stores to get the figures they wanted. Since the release of Hasbro's The Vintage Collection in 2010 store supplies have been scarce. Now, however, that seems ready to change! Across the country collectors are finding new Black Series figures in both 3.75-inch and 6-inch lines, plus new Rebels and Mission Series figures too! On this episode of Star Wars Action News you can listen to find out which stores to hit to score full waves of new figures.

Past And Present: The Joy Of A Millennium Falcon At Christmas!

Posted by Paul | December 16, 2014 at 03:23 PM EDT |

Check out this very touching and nostalgia-inducing video of JTA Facebook friend Buried Egg. He compiled a side by side video of him opening up his vintage Kenner Millennium Falcon from 1981 next to a modern video of him opening up his The Vintage Collection Millennium Falcon from 2012. Definitely check it out! It's guaranteed to put a smile on your face. We are such dorks! (Too bad the Rebels version would put a frown on your face.)

Review: Boba Fett/Stormtrooper - R - Mission Series (MS05)

Posted by Paul | December 16, 2014 at 09:21 AM EDT |

If Hasbro had to repack two figures from the previous Saga Legends line, then this is the way to do it. Check out the Boba Fett/Stormtrooper Mission Series set from the Rebels line. TARGET Gives Up On Hero Series X-wing Fighter Before Christmas

Posted by Paul | December 15, 2014 at 11:23 AM EDT |

JTA reader Jeff T. gleefully sends us proof that TARGET has given up on the Hero Series X-wing Fighter, which although Hasbro states is a standalone item, looks like the perfect vehicle for the "shampoo bottles". Come on gift-giving parents and children not interested in Star Wars yet. Why aren't you supporting this items? It's cheap, affordable and will fit your budgetary needs! All ye enlightened ones who claim to "understand" why Hasbro has gone the cheap route, why have you not supported this thing either? For your information, my TARGET locations are SWIMMING in these things. They're stacked up like freight in a warehouse. If this keeps up, retail won't even take a chance on the new Episode 7 Star Wars stuff. Why should they when they've been given all of these bridges to sell? Click the thumbnails below for larger images.

Walmart Exclusive Rebels Millennium Falcon Rollback Down To $29.97!

Posted by Paul | December 13, 2014 at 10:33 PM EDT |

JTA reader Mike C. eagerly writes in to let other JTA readers know that Walmart has the simplified BMF (the Rebels Millennium Falcon) for a low $29.97 down from $77 (a savings of $47.03). You can pick it up at a store and not pay shipping charges either. At this price, it's honestly a bit hard to not consider it. It also makes us wonder just how well this new "cheap route" is working out for retailers too.

A Not-So-Bad-Looking Way To Dress Up TBS Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight)

Posted by Paul | December 13, 2014 at 06:20 PM EDT |

JTA reader thirdfloor sends us pictures he took of The Black Series 6" Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) figure with the cloak from The Black Series 3.75" Darth Malgus figure. While there is no denying that the cloak is not to scale (and evidently too short), we have to admit that it adds some amazing depth to the lightly accessorized 6" figure. Click each thumbnail below to see larger images.

Gentle Giant Ltd. Briefly Shows Unannounced Items In YouTube Video

Posted by Paul | December 13, 2014 at 04:00 PM EDT |

Gentle Giant Ltd. posted a video on YouTube back on December 4th that sadly went unnoticed. But if you check it out and look carefully, you'll see new things that have yet to be officially announced. We also couldn't help but notice what looks to be a (GASP!) 6" vintage Kenner Boba Fett "mid-size" figure. Hopefully that's just a scaled version for better referencing or something else, but that looks oddly finished in our minds. Could it be that Gentle Giant Ltd. will be starting an all-new vintage Kenner scaled line? Anyway, even if that's not the case, definitely check out the video!
