Review: Darth Vader [Anakin Skywalker] - TAC - Saga Legends

Posted by Paul | July 24, 2016 at 12:40 AM ET |

The very first Saga Legends line in 2007 was for the most part a collector's dream come true. Hasbro packed some good choices into the line. Darth Vader [Anakin Skywalker] wasn't really one of them. Review: Chewbacca - TAC - Saga Legends

Posted by Paul | July 23, 2016 at 12:25 AM ET |

The very first Saga Legends line in 2007 was for the most part a collector's dream come true. Hasbro packed some good choices into the line. Chewbacca was an OK choice. There is a Darth Vader (Emperor's Wrath) Mini Bust coming from Gentle Giant Ltd.

The Black Series 2016 Cheaters' Choice Poll

Posted by Paul | July 22, 2016 at 11:38 AM ET |

A mere few hours ago, Jaina Solo had only 17% of the vote. Dengar was even catching up to her (like only a couple of percentage points away from each other). Now that we're in the final hours of voting, she and Starkiller have been tripping over each other and their percentages have jettisoned to new and ludicrous heights. And once reigning champion Darth Talon has sunk to Jaina's last night low. Too bad this poll runs right up against the Hasbro presentation. There is no way possible for StarWars.com to sift through all of the "off by one number" IPs addresses that are abusing the results in time. (Edit: some say it is cookie based – thank you Incognito browsers!) But if they do, man, are they going to be peeved. There are 108K votes cast. That doesn't even make the least bit of sense. For those of you that think I don't want Jaina to win are wrong. I like the character. I loathe ballot stuffing.

The 2016 Convention Exclusive R2-D2 (Unpainted Prototype) 1:6 Scale Figure is.... interesting. We'll leave it at that here. But you can learn more in our Research Droids Reviews. 5POA Rogue One Stormtrooper Removed From Display Case

Posted by Paul | July 21, 2016 at 10:07 PM ET |

Hasbro may not be showing any Rogue One until stuff tomorrow, but JTA reader and friend Josh M. forwarded us an image from GalacticHunter.com where a Rogue One Stormtrooper 5POA figure is revealed. Hey, we'll see better images tomorrow, but you can check it out now. (It was pulled from the case once they realized it was on display.)

Gentle Giant Ltd. Announces PGM Holiday BB-8 Mini Bust

Posted by Paul | July 21, 2016 at 09:58 PM ET |

Gentle Giant Ltd. announces their PGM Exclusive Holiday gift. Click the image for more information.

Hasbro has just tweeted that the TBS6 Princess Leia Organa figure has arrived. And while it's a given that I am a conspiracy theorist, this in my opinion another hand-painted sample and the production figures will NEVER come close to looking like this. Some feel that this version isn't any better either. We'll see what arrives at retail. "We LOVE Princess Leia!" Can't you tell?

Brand New Media Event Year.... Same Old Responses

Posted by Paul | July 21, 2016 at 04:20 PM ET |

Celebration Catch Up: Rebels Season 3 Trailer Breakdown

Posted by Mike_Taber | July 21, 2016 at 02:03 PM ET |

The trailer for season three of Star Wars Rebels certainly got a lot of people talking. From the introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn(!) to the continued threat of Darth Maul, it appears we’re in store for a very eventful third season. It’s time to delve deep into this jam-packed trailer. Click through for the full breakdown

Celebration didn't feature a big Episode VIII announcement, but director Rian Johnson was on hand to talk about the process of bringing the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga to life. Although we've heard a lot of what he said before, Johnson offered up some interesting information when he listed six films that influenced the direction of Episode VIII. The six films he mentioned were Bridge on the River Kwai, Gunga Din, Sahara (1943), Letter Never SentTwelve O'Clock High, and Three Outlaw Samurai. It's definitely an intriguing group of classic movies and they almost exclusively take place during the middle of war. It will be interesting to see how directly these films influenced Episode VIII.

Princess Leia (In Boushh Disguise)

Entertainment Earth has officially unveiled their new exclusive, and as expected it is full of droids: Four from the cherished The Clone Wars television series and the other two from the Original Trilogy. What makes these figures so special is that Hasbro is using The Vintage Collection R2-D2 (VC25) sculpt which is great news for those that request screen accuracy. This is a SUPER-ARTICULATED figure which includes nine (9) points of articulation including a swivel dome, two swivel legs, two swivel ankles, a sliding third leg, a swivel third leg, a hinged door, and an articulated arm. Click through for the complete details and additional images, and if you haven't done so yet... click here to pre-order yours!

Review: Jango Fett (Kamino Escape) - SW [S - P3] - '03 #20

Posted by Paul | July 20, 2016 at 12:10 AM ET |

Hasbro repacked the Jango Fett (Kamino Escape) figure into the third phase of the Star Wars "Saga" line with a different number. But the figure was also repainted. See it in our Research Droids Reviews. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Jango Fett (Kamino Escape)

Let's hope the paint jobs are good folks! Here is our first true "gift" in a VERY long time! Entertainment Earth just placed a pre-order for a mystery 3.75" super-articulated Star Wars action figure set for $79.99. There are SIX figures in the set, but 5 are FIRST TIME OFFERINGS. How exciting is that? If you look carefully in the background you'll see a sandcrawler as a clue, although that doesn't mean all these characters will be from A New Hope. Let's hope MULTIPLES of these are in the works regardless of what characters are chosen (this is what we need, Hasbro, to engage us)! We believe this could this be the long-rumored astromech /protocol droid multipack that has been talked about for "years" now. We'll surely find out at SDCC this year! Pre-order your set now!

UPDATE: Diverse Range Of Interesting Dudes" = DROIDS. (Thank you Jayson Krebsbach for confirming what we've been speculating!)

JTA reader and friend Rum Sleg decided to pop and boil the arms off of the Han Solo and Princess Leia (TFA) figures from the Walmart exclusive The Black Series 3.75" line. He wanted to see what they looked like without their outerwear. Check them out, and click through for his summary on them.

The Sinister Six Bounty Hunters Collective meeting was a blast. I met a fantastic group of guys last night and we're excited for the future of the group. I brought JTA's Celebration Exclusive Series 1 trading card set and the Vintage Kenner poster as giveaways for this get together. As always, bmales01: you're not invited.
