StarWars.com has opened up audience choice voting in categories of long video, short video, photography, and visual art. One of our frequent readers/commenters Matthew C. has a photo in the final voting stages, which must be quite exciting! I’ve had that specific photo on my work desktop background for some time, so I appreciate that it is getting some official recognition. The Lucca Comics and Games Convention Hasbro panel JUST revealed 2 new figures coming next year for The Black Series and The Vintage Collection (thanks to Banthaskull for posting the live feed). If you’re a TBS collector, you will be pleased that our rumor is true that Mace Windu will be joining the 6″ world. If you are a TVC collector, the reveal may be worse than you could have possibly imagined! If you thought the figure wasn’t worth it for $3 at Walmart a year ago, you might be thrilled to pay $13 for a repacked Poe Dameron (pilot) figure on a vintage Kenner card back! What do you think?
Update: Official promo photos of Mace Windu and Poe Dameron added! More photos will most likely follow later today, so stay tuned! Also, it has to be pointed out that Poe Dameron is a repaint with photo real technology.
Update 2: Mace Windu will be available in Spring 2019! Poe Dameron is scheduled for a fall 2019 release!
A thanks to Disqus commenter TopMonkey for this heads up. We initially reviewed Han, Lando, and Qi’ra from Solo back in April. So far these figures have not sold through everywhere, and their Amazon values attest to their diminished popularity. So, in an attempt to reignite some interest, Hasbro sent GeekTyrant some promo figures for review. The reviewer is a collector himself, so he has some valuable thoughts regarding these figures… Full Story
Here is an opportunity to make them better, but you only have 4 days left to do it! Available from Hole in the Ground Productions are some amazing diorama pieces that are perfect for your Death Star or Rebel base. Even if this isn’t fully backed, don’t think that nothing will come from it. Eric (owner) has been very involved with the community in being open about this campaign and his products are well thought out and versatile. With buy-in options at only $8-50 and for 3.75″ and 6″ it’s an easy thing for anyone to jump in on! Click through for some more persuasion from a fellow backer, and the originator of these photos, Sam. Full Story
Dang! This a shocker! I was expecting to find wave 2, and a friendly, competent Walmart employee (no joke) went to the back and located the case. Much to my surprise I found something quite different!
Dioramas are cool. Supporting hobbyists is even cooler. Hole in the Ground Productions has been making resin cast diorama parts for years, and are trying to take things to the next level, but your help is needed! So many people supported the barge around these parts, and a much smaller investment could go a long way in backing a supplier of amazing diorama pieces and getting those pieces into our dioramas.
If you want to contribute but it’s not as convenient at the moment, don’t worry. There is a minimum option for only a donation of $8 and it still gets you some new diorama parts. If you collect 6″ figures, there is an option for you. Click the image below to view their main perk – 24 injection molded functional diorama pieces for only $50!!
Sadly, it’s not as exciting as you think. Hoping to find wave 2, I searched the SKU on brickseek.com. Brickseek was right on the money with the number of figures that were in the store, but guess what? My local Walmart got a very nice, fresh, minty case of wave 1…
Hi Hasbro, here are some figures that I want made. Just so there is no question as to what figures people want made, I thought posting these photos may be of assistance. Readers, do you agree? Let us know in the comments!
Yes, you read that right. Wave 2 is barely showing up in stores in America and Europe and wave 3 is already showing up overseas! I’m sure we can expect to see these on eBay fairly soon… This does negate a previous rumor that the Praetorian Guard would be taking the place of the Range Trooper in this wave (thankfully false). Shout out to John P. and his friends who sent him these images!!
Rather bewilderingly, the Doctor Aphra SDCC set is still in-stock online. If you still haven’t picked up this set, I personally recommend it – especially for the amazing droids (don’t see too many of them around anymore). Check out our review of the set here!
If you are into building dioramas to display your figures (I know I am), you’ll definitely want to check out this Indigogo campaign for Hole In the Ground Productions. Only a couple days in and already 14% funded! Keep in mind this is just the first wave, and if funded there will be more diorama pieces coming soon.
The nice thing is you don’t have to worry about crazy funding costs, but you can buy in to some higher-end campaign rewards, too. There are good options for everyone to show their support for this awesome project!
Action Figure Junkies (AFJ) posted an article yesterday with an interesting idea. What if Hasbro produced a 6″ line of GI Joe figures? Click through for some Star Wars related commentary… Full Story
My dad sent me a picture of the PZ-4CO action figure that he picked up today. I had remembered reading somewhere that “Peazy” was of feminine programming, so I looked it up just for fun. I stumbled upon an obscure interview with the actress who portrayed Peazy. Click through for more…
As you all know, The Vintage Collection Resistance Rey has already hit shelves about a month ago. Walmart is just the best retailer and I’m so glad that whenever I go I find just the Star Wars toys I’m looking for. Our friends at Banthaskull agree in their latest article. Is your experience the same? Snap a photo and let Hasbro know how well Walmart does at selling their products in our comments below…
Finally! I’ve been trying to find a pre-order for these figures for a while, but all the sites I found were based in the UK. Your Toy Link has TVC wave 2 for pre-order in the US for $15 each
and free shipping No shipping charged until actually shipped (or you can choose a $5 deposit). They also have the Mimban Stormtrooper available to ship for $40 (less than eBay but still too much for my blood). They are scheduled for an 8/31 availability.
Much doom and gloom has been spilled in the last few days it seems. It’s sad to hear of people leaving the hobby because they couldn’t find a figure at the store. They have their reasons, but I have to ask myself, “Is it really all that bad?” There are several reasons why I don’t think things are as bad as some of the more pessimistic views make it sound. Here’s what I mean… Full Story
Last October, we posted an article in conjunction with Peakob1 Customs about the ideal list of figures from The Clone Wars you’d like to see in The Vintage Collection. Steve Evans has posted a similar question on instagram today. We want to hear your top figures you want to see from The Clone Wars, now that it is returning for one last season! Or which is worse, the first wave of repacks or the wave of repacks that follow them? Our friends at banthaskull.com have posted an article citing sources that are reporting something different than a rumor we posted about a month ago. Click through for more…
In our worry over the fire going out on 3.75″ collecting Paul discussed earlier, there is a spark that will light the fire that may inspire you once again. It definitely gives me some hope for upcoming figures to come!! Click through for the full video… Full Story
I found this image floating on Facebook. It was sourced from another group entirely so as of yet I don’t have the original source for this image. As a big fan of the Star Wars Nerf line (not added to ships…) I think this is a great set. If you look a little closer you may find something else of interest to TVC collectors. A little more to the left… a little more…
Keep checking your local Walmart clearance aisle’s folks. I found the entire wave (bought the Hoth trooper) for $11. This is the first time I had seen the full wave at any Walmart in my area. I’ve seen other reports of people finding them for even less than $11 (no pics, sorry).
To be honest, Battle Packs were hit or miss. Ones like the Mandalorian Warrior pack (please send more Mandos) were much more popular than ones like the Battle of Geonosis. Would a few battle packs of articulated figures be a bad thing? At least with these characters, I think a couple battle packs might do us some good. More…
Solo: A Star Wars Story has a lot of Easter eggs as you probably well know. One of the parts of the movie that may be difficult to get a good long look at the background details is Dryden Voss’ study. Well, luckily for us, Star Wars.com has this amazing video showing off some of the items in his collection. Whew, that Mando armor is hot! Also interesting to note are the references to Legends material. Click through for the full video!
Star Wars Plastic Playsets has revealed pictures of an amazing 3D designed playset. Based on the Bespin scenes from The Empire Strikes Back (your favorite Star Wars), it features the carbon freezing chamber (obviously), a bespin hallway, an “I am your father” bridge, and several other features. Click through for more!
I’ve been a fan of holeintheground productions’ work for quite some time. Most recently they have put a gorgeous 3.75″ scale Emperor’s throne up for sale. Thanks to Scott M. for pointing us in their direction. And we agree… A new Emperor who can sit in this throne would be wonderful!! Do you have any pieces from them in your dioramas? Let us know in the comments!
Solo was a great film. It was a fun movie to watch. One thing that it did very well was the dense and diverse population of each planet and cantina visited throughout the story. Click through to see how we think Hasbro should take advantage of this new treasure-trove of characters in The Vintage Collection…
Well, this is new… I stumbled upon this image on Facebook in a great group of collectors who follow the Toy Run podcast, and was immediately disheartened. Has this happened in any of your local Walmarts? If you’ve ever had to buy spray paint at Walmart you know how hard it can be to find the guy with the keys. And we thought collecting was hard enough! Has this happened in any of your local Walmarts? Credit goes out to Criz. B for the image.
I certainly have! Dark Side Toys announces Dark Side Creations: 3D printed custom heads for 3.75″ action figures. Click through for their announcement!
A while back it was discovered that Hot Wheels would be releasing a series of Starships recreating the original concept vehicles that were drawn up for the original Star Wars. Just a couple days ago I found more images in a Facebook group and felt it was time to share. Click through to see more photos.
For those of you who like Jabba’s Palace Denizens, and I know that’s basically everyone reading this article, you may find a certain costume in the Solo trailer just posted very interesting. Click through to find out more…
A plethora of new trailers have been aired in the last few days. Here is another one with some neat new shots. I’m really liking the aesthetic of this movie. Click through for the trailer.
A few days ago, I posted about how Tam Posla would be making a cameo appearance in Solo. Apparently there is another character that is in Rogue One making a background appearance. Or at least it looks the same… Click through to check it out for yourself.
3.75″ Figures are making a comeback, but where are the droids? Just from the recent Solo trailers, there are a ton of droids that are completely worthy of a figure. Click through for more images.
