John Boyega Talks About Finn And Carrie Fisher In The Last Jedi

John Boyega recently sat down with IGN and discussed a bit about Finn’s undercover work in The Last Jedi. He also sat down in an interview with “Popcorn with Peter Travers” and talked about Carrie’s final performance in The Last Jedi. More after the jump!

I know that I personally have been more enamored with what is happening with Luke, Rey, Snoke, and Kylo with all the leaks that have been happening that I almost had forgotten Finn existed…except for every time I walk by ANY toy section and see him on the pegs. Now, John Boyega sat down with IGN to give us a bit of information regarding his First Order Undercover assignment in The Last Jedi.

“Well, it’s like imagine you work at McDonald’s. You push your manager into a chute compactor and then a year later you decide to go back dressed as one of the colleagues. It’s not the best situation. There’s a lot of chasing, there’s a mission that needs to be completed but that isn’t necessarily something that doesn’t come without a fight and it’s something that he’s gonna have to face for himself.” -John Boyega

As we know, Finn will be going undercover with his new pal that was introduced to us at Star Wars Celebration. Rose (played by Kelly Marie Tran) is a Resistance worker that, for some reason or another, gets dragged along with Finn on his mission.

“But it was fun for me. I always wanted to go undercover. Star Wars undercover is different because you wear a hat and all of a sudden no one recognizes you. … I’d be thinking to myself walking in one of those scenes, isn’t anyone gonna go, ‘Wait, isn’t that Finn?’ Do you know what I mean? But such is the magic of Star Wars. It’s fun. It’s fun to do. It’s cool.” -J. Boyega

In John Boyega’s interview with “Popcorn with Peter Travers,” he revealed that he and Leia have many scenes together and he also assures us that Carrie’s final performance is going to be “amazing.”

John told Travers, “We really enjoyed each other’s company.”

Be sure to watch the entire segment of “Popcorn with Peter Travers.”

What are you thinking about this “undercover” mission? We’ve been constantly hearing that The Last Jedi is going to be a darker film, but it won’t be without its fun moments. Hopefully, it won’t just be dark for the sake of being dark and trying to follow in Empire’s footsteps. We’re now in August and we’re getting closer….Can you feel it?
