Hey! If anyone’s interested, it looks like you can get pack-in figures for a reduced cost at my local TARGET right outside of Philadelphia. Just buy any Hasbro vehicle, take out the figure and nd then return it as if nothing is different. It appears to be going over quite well here. Good luck to all!

We are also getting a lot of reports of our readers finding them on the shelves. JTA reader Shakes The Clone sends us an image from Charleston South Carolina.

The reports continue to pour in with reade success of finding the Walgreens exclusive General Veers at their local stores. German etailer Toy-Palace will offer three Star Wars exclusive sets at the “Science Fiction Treffen” (Science Fiction Meeting) in the Technikmuseum Speyer in Germany this weekend, that is today and tomorrow on Sunday. Toy-Palace will sell the Han/Leia Hoth set exclusively at the con, as well as the TVC Aphra SDCC exclusive and the SDCC Han Exogorth Set.
According to the info Toy-Palace provided the Han/Leia Hoth set will be available online in Germany in November. So anyone who doesn’t have a chance to attend the SF Meeting in the Technikmuseum Speyer today and tomorrow can try their luck then. Expect this set to sell out quickly. We will notify you once the set is available for pre-order!

SH.Figuarts Episode III Anakin Skywalker is being released just now and the figure will be shipped soon. And just in time for Anakin’s release SHF have announced Episode III Obi-Wan. Pre-orders will open on October 1st, so be sure to check the usual Japanese etailers on Monday. Click through for some more infos and a few initial thoughts on the figure!

Gary Kurtz, Star Wars producer, passed away on Sunday, September 23rd at 4:47 pm after succumbing to a battle with cancer. He will be missed and is universally loved for his work with Star Wars. He was 78. Check out the full PRESS RELEASE here.

Some readers doubted the authenticity of our Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) store report a couple of days ago. Well, we have another one. This time JTA reader Henry M. found the figure at his local TARGET in Southern California. Good luck to everyone!

Alright, here we go, folks! With EXTRA SPECIAL thanks to friend and JTA reader Logan, we’re able to provide you an exclusive look at the interior and exterior of the Disney Droid Factory Sandcrawler Playset. This thing is beyond impressive. It comes loaded with lights and sounds (video forthcoming) and has INCREDIBLE sculpting within its four walls that has completely blown us away. The detail is overwhelming and has plenty of room for a hoard of droids. This is going to be a hot item for 3.75″ collectors. Disney went above and beyond here. We should count ourselves very, very lucky! By the way, measurements are 20″ long, 9.75″ wide in the front and 9″ wide in the back.

UPDATE: The Sandcrawler’s full features include: retractable claw, opening light-up cockpit, motion activated sound, lights, sound effects, trap door, motorized elevator, light-up furnace.

Here are some awesome new loose images of the pack-in Jawa to the Disney Droid Factory Sandcrawler Playset. The figure comes with ball-jointed shoulders, but the rest of the figure is pretty static. Still, it has a pretty decent sculpt.

Both figures look minimally articulated, but I wonder if that GONK Droid is the first Build A Droid figure of this particular droid type. Entertainment Earth has taken over the exclusivity of the Star Wars [Solo] The Last Jedi five-pack which includes the exclusive holographic Maz Kanata. This one slipped by us, so hopefully, if you missed this news you know now too!

To my shock and surprise, I found my very first two Wampa/Luke Skywalker sets at my local Walmart in Northeast Philly. I have heard of others seeing older products arrive in their local stores too. It appears as if more stock is making its way to Walmart. Now, where are those Mimban Stormtroopers?

Variety has an interesting exclusive article about Disney’s plans to make MCU shows for their upcoming streaming service. That alone would not be worth mentioning really, what is worth mentioning is that Variety also reports that the MCU shows will not just feature main characters from the movies, but that each character, such as Loki or Scarlet Witch, will be played by their MCU actors, Tom Hiddelston and Elizabeth Olsen. What could that mean for Star Wars? Click through for some speculation!

The USA and China are currently engaged in a trade war, it’s not the taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems that is in question, the US administration is of the opinion that China is taking unfair advantage of free trade, so more and more imported goods from China are subject to trade tariffs. What would happen should the US administration impose a 25% tariff on virtually anything produced in China? Including toys? How would and could Hasbro react? For the thirteenth release in New Zealand Mint’s Star Wars Classic collection they have chosen the tyrannical Emperor Palpatine. Another great choice! A masterful and patient manipulator, he carefully played countless people. His intelligence coupled with his desire for power makes him one of the most formidable villains you’ll encounter in fiction. Click through for more details!

How about finding The Vintage Collection wave 19 at your local Walmart and then bringing them to the register where they ring up for $1.00 each! It’s true! JTA reader Brian A. from Massachusetts sends us the proof! Check it out!

We have a sneak peek of The Vintage Collection Range Trooper (VC128) for you. The figure is the best iteration of the character in any scale. In my opinion, it blows away the color scheme of The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ figure. And it goes without saying that it is a world away from the satisfactory 5POA Force Link 2.0 version. Hasbro nailed the likeness of the figure perfectly, and the deco is a pure pleasure. The lines are super clean and free from any sloppily applied details. The articulation is better than I expected, but the inherent nature of the figure’s design prevents it from being the most “mobile” action figure Hasbro has ever produced. The most interesting detail here is the white gun. Both the 6″ figure and the 5POA figure come with black blasters, but Hasbro corrected the error with the TVC version. We should count ourselves fortunate. The figure is hitting in the USA as we speak, and collectors can barely process this since the case assortment hasn’t even gone up for pre-order yet. But Walmart (of all places) is the retailer receiving them. Truth is stranger than fiction!

Our last store report for The Vintage Collection wave 19 comes from Utah. JTA Facebook follower Aaron L. from Utah sends us a report from Utah. We have also seen a ton of other reports elsewhere from Florida, Indiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Massachusetts. Good luck to all!

We are happy to share an international store report from Switzerland. JTA reader Phil B. can confirm that some of Hasbro’s greatest exclusives are hitting his homeland, but not through standard retailers. These include The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ Gamorrean Guard and The Vintage Collection Stormtrooper (Mimban) figures! Awesome find!

I can also confirm two store reports in NJ. One in Princeton NJ where I personally found the latest figures, and one in Hamilton NJ (both Walmart stores).

The store reports for The Vintage Collection wave 19 (wave 3 in the new era) are pouring in left and right. One of our latets reports is from Texas. JTA reader Warren H. sends us the proof! “These were at my local Walmart. Looks like 2 cases of wave 2 and only 1 wave 3. I got all the better cards, some were damaged. Pearland Texas.”

Ollie’s is apparently the dumping ground for the ton of unsold Hasbro Star Wars products that either never made it to retail or stuff that retailer gave up on after trying to sell it. JTA reader Edward D. finds something new every day he visits his local store. And the latest addition is the Walmart exclusive TBS [P3] 3.75″ AT-ST. The kicker? It’s only $10!

Whenever you want to make a Star Wars toy, you need to have a license. This should be pretty common knowledge. Lucasfilm and Disney protect their intellectual property and whoever wants to make anything based on Star Wars needs a licensing agreement. Now, these agreements are usually secret, other than some very basic facts, no specific details are released, so it’s usually very difficult to know how much money is involved.
While digging through the internet I was able to find a (somewhat redacted) licensing agreement between Hasbro and Lucasfilm from October 1997, an agreement that was extended several times in the meantime until 2020. And while redacted, it is still very informative, so informative that I think anyone should click through now to read all the details and to finally find out how much Hasbro is paying for that Star Wars license! You may be very surprised. Also, a very interesting question will be answered: who actually owns anything Hasbro makes? Dioramas are cool. Supporting hobbyists is even cooler. Hole in the Ground Productions has been making resin cast diorama parts for years, and are trying to take things to the next level, but your help is needed! So many people supported the barge around these parts, and a much smaller investment could go a long way in backing a supplier of amazing diorama pieces and getting those pieces into our dioramas.

Bocce balls! JTA reader Jeremy B. found the Walmart exclusive The Vintage Collection Imperial TIE FIghter at his local Walmart in Indiana. It’s another Festivus miracle! You can read out full review of this release RIGHT HERE in our RDRs.

It feels like The Vintage Collection is getting sucked into The Black Series 3.75″ vacuum. In what we thought would undoubtedly be a triumphant return, The Vintage Collection is plagued by what some might describe as significant problems. (And those problems have few solutions at this point.). Before we itemize all of its problems, it’s important to note that the rebirth of the illustrious The Vintage Collection line is something no collector should take for granted. It was in and of itself a miracle. After Hasbro gave up on the 3.75” super-articulated line and threw it out like a baby in bathwater by giving to Walmart, it felt like some divine intervention was at play that inspired Hasbro to take another chance at this fan-favorite line. While there have been recent glimmers of hope with The Vintage Collection, collectors on average generally feel that the return of The Vintage Collection hasn’t met expectations. The overwhelming number of Sequel Trilogy straight repacks have sullied the line to the point of affecting distribution already. And the only strong seller is an Original Trilogy character from 2010 that consistently sells out long before any newer figures from the Sequel Trilogy. We thought about the whole situation more and put together a pecking order of the types of characters Hasbro should focus on (ranking them #1 through #10) to make a solid line of action figures that would mimic the Golden Age of Collecting approach. Well this is devastating (but in all honesty NOT shocking, sadly). We’re getting MULTIPLE reports that “Bubblegate” is back in a fast and furious way. With so many wonderful store reports coming in with collectors finding wave 2 of The Vintage Collection, just as many are writing in to let us know that the figures’ bubbles are coming clean off the card backs with little effort at all. Hasbro claimed to have fixed this problem going forward. They even removed the Scotch tape after updating their heat-sealing protocols. Now the same horrific nightmare is happening once again. TVC has NO chance with all of these uphill battles. Special thanks to JTA reader vikingrobot for the report and images and so many others writing in with these very upsetting developments.

What’s interesting is that collectors are finding these in stores where Brickseek shows 0 units available. I have yet to see one of these in any of my local stores. It’s a Festivus miracle! On my way to the gym I decided to stop at Walmart in Northeast Philly. Would you believe that wave 2 was hanging on the pegs (and literally nothing else). What’s sad is that I physically bought these and I still cannot believe I found them. That’s how dead my area has been for years now. Will wave 3 come this easy too? Sadly, the four figures I left behind are going for pennies on the dollar on Amazon right now. Yes, you read that right. Wave 2 is barely showing up in stores in America and Europe and wave 3 is already showing up overseas! I’m sure we can expect to see these on eBay fairly soon… This does negate a previous rumor that the Praetorian Guard would be taking the place of the Range Trooper in this wave (thankfully false). Shout out to John P. and his friends who sent him these images!!

There is an “interesting” calendar on Amazon which features vintage Kenner action figures. Similar to the Five Below poster we reported about recently, most of the figures are incomplete. What’s more, some have been placed in scenes that are screen-inaccurate. The makers of these products should probably check out our vintage Kenner archives for accuracy and inspiration.
