JTA reader Ashley has forwarded us an email conversation with Hasbro UK that could potentially be bad news for collectors in the UK and possibly all of Europe. Ashley wanted an update on the availability of the Khetanna in the UK and received a potentially troubling reply. Click through for more info!
UPDATE: Ashley received yet another email from Hasbro UK which should give reason to be somewhat more optimistic again. Read the article for the update!
This is what Hasbro UK replied:
Thank you for email.
I am pleased to reply, but regret to advise there are no plans at this time to release Star Wars Jabbas Sail Barge Khettana in the UK.
I will certainly share your interest with our brand team.
Thanks again for your interest.
Now, there’s always the possibility that the person who wrote this email is not privy to Hasbro’s latest plans on releasing the Khetanna outside of North America. The Hasbro reps insisted time and again that they would bring limited quantities of Jabba’s sail barge to Europe and elsewhere, so collectors have a chance of buying it.
It would be quite a 180 degree turn if Hasbro suddenly stopped all plans of bringing the Khetanna to the UK (and perhaps all of Europe).
Maybe it’s time Hasbro released an official statement to let collectors outside of North America know what their plans are and when and how the Khetanna will be available, if at all. It is now almost 2019 and we still know nothing.
UPDATE: Ashley received yet another email from Hasbro UK and this time things don’t sound so categorically negative as before:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Star Wars Sail Barge Khetanna.
We do not have any specifics to announce at this time, but please know that we are actively looking at ways make this item available internationally in 2019.
So, this is the latest from Hasbro UK. However, “looking at ways” doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a way. In about two months time the barge is about to be released in the US and in all the time since the project was successfully funded Hasbro failed to give collectors outside of North America any specifics about how and when the barge would be available to them.
