Man I don’t know…initial impression was it didn’t feel like Star Wars. Ill need to rewatch a few more times.

An easter egg for the “Seagulls, Stop It Now” song fans?

I still don’t know what to think. I don’t dislike what I see, but not overly enthused either.

      Same.

I did like those long eared wolf looking creatures though.

I like it, but felt more excited for TFA.

  • EPC-421

    Hey Snowtroopers making a comeback.
    Oh Finn Vs Phasma HMMM.

    • Indysolo007

Phasma had more action in that trailer than all of FA

      • shane

        Go Phasma !
Oh something will make it a draw. Maybe the ship will crack in half with one on each side.

    • Darth Maleval

After reading the Phasma novel, I feel sorry for Finn. He is no match for her.

      • Eradicator

I think it would interesting if Phasma killed or badly beat Finn.

        • Funtomaz

It would be a complete joke if she lost again! Also: things usually don’t look so bright for the heroes in the middle chapter of a trilogy and the big bads are usually only defeated at the end (in the last book/movie). But in chapter 2 the heroes are usually defeated orf experience a severe setback only to come out stronger in the end because of it. TLJ will certainly follow a similar pattern.

        • shane

          Yes yes yes !!!!

      • AllThePowa

Wasn’t Finn an exceptional CQC trooper in one the books? He probably does.

  • Oh… my… that was amazing. Hate the ST all you want, but that was amazing. Kylo killing it in his TIE… I need some time to process but so far, Rian Johnson looks like he moved in the right direction

    • I agree. It was a lot darker than I expected!

      • Indysolo007

        I like the dark tone.

      • It’s a remake of the darkest Star Wars film: Episode V. Why did you not expect this?

        • Jeez let it go. This is SO overplayed!

          • DarthXit

            Yup

          • Not played NEARLY enough!

          • TatooineSandworm

That trailer does not give credence to a Empire Strikes Back rehash…

          • Come on, there was a lightsaber in it so it MUST be a rehash, right Paul? Right?

          • Don’t talk one way with me offline about the ST and then appease the masses here.

          • Richard Pryor

            Wah.

          • AAA

            Yes…it does

          • The_Kilted_Fett

I get the distinct impression Paul hates these characters so much, there’s no way he will enjoy either TLJ or Ep. IX…

          • shane

And Chuck shoots, he scores for the win !
            37 to 11

        • Tom Chorlton

I think there are some tell tales signs to alleviate our fears of this! My fingers are crossed with excitement!

        • Funtomaz

It’s not uncommon for the heroes to experience severe setbacks in the middle part of a trilogy. Hero gets defeated so the hero can learn from the experience and come out stronger in the end… this is nothing Star Wars invented and of course the heroes can’t actually win in TLJ or else there’d be no Ep IX. So in a way TLJ will mirror ESB in this regard. But it will most certainly not be a remake. Give the (creative) people involved some credit. They are not cretins. I reserve all judgment until December 15th.

        • Matthew Cohen

You forgot to tell us to get off your lawn.

        • rebelsfangirl

          Chapter 1: Heroes come together
Chapter 2: Heroes resolve is tested
          Chapter 3: Heroes triumph

It’s literally the basis of every hero story ever, Star Wars didn’t originate it.

          • Commander Joe276

Accept for Anakin…. the most dynamic hero of all time- took 6 movies rather than 3 to truly show the human condition on a large scale 😎

          • rebelsfangirl

Anakins story wasn’t a hero story though, it was a villain story. 🙂

          • I don’t understand how you can come to this conclusion. The whole PT + OT is his rise to power, fall from grace and redemption. It is the ultimate hero’s story.

          • rebelsfangirl

I was referring to the PT, it’s his villain origin story, that’s why its structure differs to Lukes hero arc.

          • matt

            I can’t understand why that account isn’t blocked. She’s clearly just a troll…

          • Sith Lord Jacen

she sure is I cringe everytime I see her name, she goes on and on and wont give it a rest.

          • Commander Joe276

Ive always looked at him as a hero, but he went through tragedy to realize who he really was. He didn’t pretend to be flawless and everyone in the Jedi Order wanted him to be. Anakin was an impressionable young man who didnt know how to control his untamed power and is told to ignore emotions. He’s a very unorthodox hero, as he actually struggles with real life emotions and sadly lets them get to him.
Sorry he’s my favorite character so I tend to go on and on 😂

          • rebelsfangirl

He was a hero, that’s the tragedy of it you’re right. But his ultimate story arch of the PT is that of the fallen hero, instead of the last chapter being triumph it was tragedy. I’m certainly not questioning his heroism while he was a hero, and I really like Anakin as a character too. 🙂

          • shane

I for one, would sure love to see his return as a Force Ghost.

        • Littlegreenwiseguy

I’m staying super cautious until I get the whole story and see how Luke and Leia behave in this one. But it at least must be better than The Force Awakens since from there the only direction they can go is up, right?😅

    • EPC-421

Not gonna lie the end gave me a bit of a chill.

    • Aric

Completely agree. I hope they take some risks and please Paul!

    • JohnMorog

      thank youuuuuu.

    • RumSleg

Kylo’s a decent pilot. There goes my theory that the wedge between him and Han grew because Ben wasn’t a good pilot. 😉

  • Henry

The trailer didn’t have the emotional punch of The Force Awakens trailer, but it’s got me intrigued.

  • Starwars Steve

Loved it. So different from anything else.

    • AAA

Is it though? Empire had Vader and the Emperor searching, tempting Luke. Looks the same for Rey.

  • ILoveSand

Is it my imagination or was Ren missing his scars in that scene where Rey says she needs someone to show her her place?

    • Indysolo007

I’m assuming that black tape was some sort of bacta patch

      • ILoveSand

Haha. I went back and checked and saw the scars. That’s what I get for not wearing my glasses while viewing the trailer.

      • CadeSky

I thought that was really weird. Couldn’t figure that out!

      • Funtomaz

We need the Kylo Ren (Bacta Patch) action figure! 😉

    • Danny

      face scar is still there

  • I guess Kylo still hasn’t attended anger management? For me, Rey comes off more pitiful than ever. The best part of this entire trailer was the porg imitating Chewy.

    • El_tito

      That was cool lol

    • Tom Chorlton

      Love that Porg!!! Love him!!!!

      • Danny

        Porg = Zuvio

        • AllThePowa

          Porg = BB-8

Overhyped cute robot that evntually somehow wins everyone over.

    • Henry

I hope the Porg are as cool as the Ewoks.

    • General Hux

Get out of here, Debbie!! 🙂

    • The Porg

The Porg scene is a wonderment!

  • The scene with him looking out over the hanger… so much imperial eye candy!

  • Jimmy Griffin

Well that was definitely intriguing and…foreboding. I’m sorry we didn’t get to see Carrie Fisher deliver any of her lines. I am definitely looking forward to this movie, I think it’s going to leave us wanting more.

  • TimmytheTusken

So emo Vader boy commits parricide twice

    • Funtomaz

No way. Leia will have to go, sure. But I doubt that Kylo fires in this scene. Either something will prevent him or he will have second thoughts.

  • Superflukullus

    So Kylo Ren redemption arc?

    • TatooineSandworm

hmm..not sure. Kills dad and blows up mom’s spaceship (with her on it)? going for broke if he attempts to kill luke too.

      • — Jon —

Didn’t he try to kill Luke already (with his Ren posse) and in the upcoming movie on the island?

      • Superflukullus

That scene with Kylo in the Tie is not destroying Leias ship. I have a feeling Snoke disowns Kylo after seeing the potential in Rey and he has to escape the FO seeing how his legacy just brought death and suffering.

        • shane

Ha ! Not a chance Kylo blows up that ship. But if it is, I’m shocked they would put it in a trailer.

    • shane

I didn’t approve of this at first but perhaps it is, and I will like it. Like I’ve said before I really believe Lucasfilm is going for a more GOT approach or trying to.

  • TheJournalOfTheWhills

The Rey twist is a bit of a shocker for me!

    • Jimmy Griffin

I think the thing at the end might have been clever editing; I’m not so sure we will see her asking kylo for help.

      • Yes, if TFA final trailer was any indication… it’s probably misdirection.

        • Indysolo007

Agreed. Flames were falling with the Kylo scene and the Rey portion didn’t look as tumultuous a setting.

          • TheJournalOfTheWhills

Agreed that the end scene is edited to look like Rey and Kylo but is two different scenes. Could be a complete switch – Rey joins Snoke and Kylo is reaching out to Luke and begins a redemption arc. One thing is clear, Kylo means little to nothing to Snoke, Rey is the one he is after.

      • TheJournalOfTheWhills

I don’t thinks it’s the editing, obviously it’s Rey that Snoke is talking to in the beginning – although you are to assume it’s Kylo as he is pictured in the shot. She is the awakening from TFA, Snoke found her. Luke must refuse to train her or is scared of her power as it reminds him of Vader – So she looks elsewhere.. Rey could actually end up the next Darth Vader! Think of this as Rey’s version of Anakin in the prequel trilogy.

        • Jimmy Griffin

Interesting. I did assume it was Kylo he was talking to/about.

        • TatooineSandworm

Reminds him of *Kylo. Luke doesn’t get to see Vader’s full raw power ever.

        • shane

I think I might like this, what you are suggesting. One thing is for sure, we better see this movie asap just to avoid getting spoiled by someone.

    • Indysolo007

The Rey Twist sounds like a dance they end up doing in the inevitable Star Wars Holiday Special 2 with Betty White in Maz’s castle instead of Bea Arthur at the cantina.

    • Funtomaz

This is most certainly just editing. Look, when Rey speaks nothing is going on in the background. Then it cuts to Kylo and all of a sudden there’s fire raining from the sky. This is most certainly completely unrelated.

      • TheJournalOfTheWhills

Not the editing at the end between Kylo/Rey – The conversation over the whole trailer is between Snoke and Rey. My bets are Rey/Kylo switch sides during TLJ.

        • Funtomaz

Oh yes, I also think it’s Snoke talking to Rey all the time. And I wouldn’t be surprised if your theory turns out to be true. I think Kylo is offering his hand to Luke.

          • shane

Oh wow, that does sound interesting, I hope your right. Yea, he killed Han Solo but if done right, could be good. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I believe Game of Thrones has introduced a new kind of writing instilled in modern cinema these days.
Many villains turn good and heroes fall into darkness or a grey area.
I feel there is a distinct possibility GOT has a new influence on the new Star Wars, even to the point of casting GOT actors into SW.
There are more GOT actors than Gwendolyn Christie in Star Wars these days. All I’m saying is, if Kylo Ren and Rey were GOT characters, it would NOT be out of the ordinary to redeem Kylo and make Rey turn Evil.
At first people would hate it, but except it, then actually love it. I hope I’m making sense with this theory in the way things are being written these days, in pop culture.

          • Funtomaz

Was it Mark Hamill who said that TLJ could be devisive among fans? I heard it quoted somewhere… Some will love the decisions made in the movie, others will hate it. Well, if they pull the rug from under us and make the heroine a villain (maybe against her own will) that could be quite divisive.

          • shane

” Will divide the fans” is what I recall. But I can’t remember who said it.

  • flipfriddle

Hmm. It didn’t really grab me emotionally but I like what I saw. It was interesting that it was mostly expansions of scenes from the teaser. Notably none of the new characters like Rose, DJ, and Laura Derns character were shown at all.

  • I can do anything (Episode VII). “I need someone to show me my place in all this.” Schizo much?

  • CynF

Okay so yeah, definite major spoilerage in this trailer if the conclusions we get to jump to are true. Will have to watch it a couple more times but it had me agape twice and got a “no way” once. Still don’t like the knuckledragger walkers but the ESB walker is like my favorite next to the Sandcrawler and Falcon so I’m biased.
LOL, initial impression – “we have a vergence in the Force” redux.

    • ARC-77

It looks like there’s some regular AT-ATs next to the new ones

      • Funtomaz

You are correct. And man, they look tiny next to the new walkers.

  • Jimmy Griffin

Regardless of how he might have felt about the writing of his character, I think we are going to see Mark Hamill deliver some really good acting in this.

    • He really made this teaser for me. Just pure, unbridled passion in that man’s eyes. I love it!

      • TatooineSandworm

His eyes when he sees Rey crack the ground…”OH SHIZZ”

    • CT-7567

      Agreed.

    • BlueSaber

Yeah it is great to see that Luke intensity and also skepticism that was his hallmark in the OT. I think he’s the most convincing actor in this new trilogy so far this side of Adam Driver. I think Mark is proving his worth 10 fold. Love that he’s relishing this chance to reprise his role again, even if it wasn’t how he envisioned it. I hope the line “not how it’s going to go” is about how Luke has been holding back on Rey up until that point and she’s getting feisty with him and he completely owns her, just with the Force, to teach her a lesson in temperament haha. It would give us as viewers a great hint of his potential Force powers.

    • darthmo

      100%

  • CynF

So, wonder how she winds up in front of Snoke.

    • Stereotypical Evil Archer

      Probably walks up to him.

  • Truthbetold

Didn’t see one praetorian guard in there. They better make the final cut, I bought like 4 of them!

    • TatooineSandworm

two of them can be seen when Kylo is picking his hilt off the ground…albeit, it is just the bottom of their robes. Snoke is probably giving Kylo one last chance type thing and Kylo is picking up his hilt after groveling

    • Indysolo007

They made the poster. Probably just keeping some of their powder dry for the film

    • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Maybe we only see their footsies.

    • Funtomaz

You can see one Praetorian in the background when Snoke is force choking Rey. He stands next to his throne. It’s very blurry, but you can see him, it’s just a split second, just pause the video if you can’t make him out.

  • Holy ****. Seriously… this just elevated my enthusiasm tenfold. I’m pumped.

Oh, and I love the look of FILM. Just gives such a more impactful feel than digital.

    • Mark

I think this every time I compare film vs digital!

    • Funtomaz

Why would you say that, I wonder. I mean, even if it was shot on film each and every frame will be scanned and digitized and all the effects are added digitally anyway etc. Since most movie projectors are all digital these days and theaters get movies on hard disks, is there really any visible difference between a movie that was shot digitally and one that was originally shot on film stock but then digitized? In the early days I would have agreed, you could easily tell digital movies from movies shot on film stock. But these days?

      • TatooineSandworm

I get to see it on 70MM IMAX FILM. One of those lucky ones whose IMAX is showing it that way 🙂

      • I can tell. It’s similar to when some people say they can’t hear auto-tuning in music, but others can. Or when some say they can taste the difference between Coke with corn syrup and Coke with cane sugar. The differences may be subtle, but if you know what to look for, they’re there.

        • Funtomaz

I call for a double blind test! 😉
Autotune can be easy to hear actually, when you know what to listen for in a vocal performance. Fortunately, we don’t have Coke with corn syrup in Europe/Germany, here it’s all made with beet sugar but as far as I know it’s chemically identical to the sugar you extract from cane sugar. But corn syrup is different, so I guess a Coke made with corn syrup also tastes different. I don’t want corn syrup in my Coke, that’s all I know 😀

          • Admiral

You’ve never tasted a Coke then.

          • ILoveSand

I can tell the difference. I avoid Corn Syrup Coke at all costs. Lucky you guys that you don’t have it. Your missing nothing.

Now back to SW for me.

        • GIBBS v2

No one can tell anymore, especially in a streamed YouTube video.

        • CT-7567

Most movies have a look to the film that can tell what decade the film was made in. It’s a little different now with digital. If that makes any sense…

          • Yes, and there’s more to it than that. Film has a more matte, contrasted look with at least a minimal amount of grain. It’s hard to replicate that completely with digital, and most filmmakers don’t care to do it since it sort of defeats the purpose of digital.

    • CT-7567

Did they actually film this one? They used film for TFA, right? I remember hearing that the Falcon chase on Jakku was filmed in IMAX and the rest on old fashioned film.

      • General Hux

They used 35mm film for TFA.

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

That don’t look like no Empire Strikes Back.

    • Henry

I just want to know who Rey’s father is.

      • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Pretty sure Rey’s father will be named Ray.

        • Jimmy Griffin

          Famous Ray or Original Ray?

          • Stereotypical Evil Archer

            Grandpa Raymus Antilles

          • DarthXit

            raymond j. johnson jr.

          • Sweet Baby Ray

        • zerobobby77

          Ray Charles

        • zx_spectrum_30

          Darth Maul?

    • — Jon —

Surprise! It’s ESB & RoTJ combined – AT-ATs vs M8 AT-ATs, Rey making it to the throne room vs Luke meeting EP. So, Episode 9 will either be a completely new movie, or a rehash of EP I through III.
      =)

    • shane

I have never subscribed to the consensus that this trilogy is a rehash. Wasn’t happy about another Death Star in TFAs but this movie will be original, good or bad, it’s got it’s own flavor.

  • Funtomaz

My overall impression: I was more excited after the TFA trailer, but we all know how that turned out. I am not exactly “wowed” after the TLJ trailer. But I am still excited for the movie.

My biggest hope for the movie: Phasma kills Finn. 😀 They must do something to redeem her after the joke she was in TFA. What better way to have her establish as someone to be reckoned with if she kills Finn. Or at least removes a few limbs here and there. 😉

So, will Kylo turn to the light side and Rey to the dark side perhaps? Will Kylo kill his mom after already disposing of his dad? Or is this the exact turning point when he fails to pull the trigger and the light side reestablishes within himself? Maybe Kylo is offering his hand to Luke (he most certainly doesn’t offer it to Rey)?

    • Eradicator

My theory from the beginning is that Kylo goes Light and Rey to dark. Maybe it will come to pass.

      • RumSleg

I think they both meet in the middle. The Jedi must end, the Sith must end, the Force must be balanced, Bendu is the one in the middle, and Rey and Ben find the middle ground, too. A place where they can have emotions without being corrupted by them.

        • shane

I got that vibe as well, yep.

        • dogbite

Oh man I want the ST to end with any remaining Skywalkers committing seppuku so badly 😀

    • ILoveSand

That is exactly how I felt after watching the RO trailer and I ended up really enjoying it. Here’s hoping TLJ will be the same.

    • — Jon —

With the amount of Finns still warming the pegs… he’ll be around until Star Wars XXXIV – The Newest Hope…

  • DarthMangar

I’ve watched it a couple of times now, and I get the feeling that almost all of the shots in the trailer were put together in a way to misdirect. Also, how come we don’t see who’s piloting the Falcon with Chewie?

    • TatooineSandworm

we did. it was pilot porg

      • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Porg Solo, Captain of the Millennium Falcon.

        • Jimmy Griffin

I can’t wait for “Untitled Porg Anthology Film”.

          • Stereotypical Evil Archer

            The Young Porg Chronicles

          • CT-7567

We should have gotten more Porgs as pack-ins in the first wave of TLJ figures.

          • Jimmy Griffin

            You got that right!

        • — Jon —

          Porg Solo, Han’s reincarnation…

    • TheJournalOfTheWhills

Luke even tells us that with his line “this is not going to go the way you think”

    • Eradicator

You would think that by default Chewie would be pilot. Who knows the ship better than he? Maybe he is just piloting from the other side.

      • Seronious

He piloted the Falcon at the end of the Force Awakens by himself when he saved Rey and Finn.

    • Darth Maleval

Rey piloted the Falcon in TFA by herself, so Chewie wouldn’t necessarily need a co-pilot either.

    • darthmadonna

I am feeling that way also like the ending, is she really speaking to him and is he really answering her with an open hand. But for me this looks more interesting to me than TFA and it’s trailers.

    • — Jon —

Most previews have a lot of misdirects and cliffhangers… makes people more eager to go watch them. I just hope this trailer doesn’t highlight most of the good scenes…

    • Jesus’s Best Friend Floyd

      The Porgs are flying,.

    • Seronious

Did you not watch the Force Awakens? At the end, Chewie piloted the Falcon by himself and helped save Finn and Rey by flying them off the planet as it escaped.

    • shane

Yep, I got that vibe as well. Very misdirect. It’s almost obvious. Oh, and it was obviously the Porg flying the Falcon.

  • Indysolo007

Wish there was some new stuff out to buy for 3.75 inch collectors!

    • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Walkers and Bombers and crystal doggo friends.

    • Boba Fred

The new 5poa ain’t that bad, I dig it for a 5poa hater myself, but just be patient for TVC my friend 🙂

  • Mike_5555

A lot to digest, but that was an impressive trailer. Mark Hamill was the highlight for me, it looks like he’s at the top of his game here. The darker tone is welcome. I like what I’m seeing from Kylo (and Adam’s performance). Phasma was a useles character in TFA, but her showdown with Finn looks great. The Porg mimicking Chewie was delightful. Just seeing Carrie again was bittersweet. Rian Johnson and the team have created some stunning visuals. Daisy seems as charming as ever. One concern for me would be Snoke. Andy Serkis is an amazing talent/actor, but I’m not a fan of his delivery in this trailer. All in all, I’m excited for TLJ!

    • Jimmy Griffin

If they really want to show us that they mean business with this movie and are trying to take it up a notch, then someone will die in that Finn/Phasma fight.

      • Mike_5555

I doubt they’ll kill Finn, but it would be a bold decision if they did.

        • Peter Longdon

he is injured from last film and I heard that will play a par in his character. could he be weakened enough for phasma to kill him? would seem like a character though

          • BlueSaber

weakened enough for her!? Dude, she could own half the fleet with her size and strength, don’t fool yourself into thinking she can’t take the snowflake that is Finn. He’s got courage, but zero brains and his acting is atrocious. The less Finn, the better and he’d be better served galvanizing our heroes with his death. There need to be STAKES people!

        • hammyhamster

You up to date in the world of sports broadcasting? Specifically ESPN (Disney)? Finn ain’t getting killed. He’s getting a two-week suspension, tops.

          • OfWolfandMan

            Ha ha. I got it.

          • hammyhamster

THANK YOU. If that joke about Disney’s race-baiting employees flew under the radar I would’ve been very disappointed. I enjoyed it too 😉

      • Nick S.

Well having read the new Phasma book and knowing what she can do, all I can say to Finn is what Han told Lando, “Good luck….. you’re gonna need it!”

        • Jimmy Griffin

That book is on my “to read” list.

          • Nick S.

I highly recommend it! It really gives you her backstory and how skilled of a warrior she is. Plus it really goes into First order and what they’re about and where they get their large numbers from

          • Jimmy Griffin

            You reading the Phasma comic?

          • Nick S.

Yes I am. I have yet to get issue 3 but it’s very interesting so far!

          • Jimmy Griffin

            Yeah, I’m really enjoying it.

    • CT-7567

I really like the part where Kylo is targeting the bridge of Leia’s ship. I also agree about Snoke.

      • Walter F.

I’d bet this is how they will now ease Carrie out of the Saga. Not how I’d want it, but ain’t my call either. 🙁

  • CadeSky

I really liked that trailer and I know that I’ll enjoy TLJ no matter what. I did laugh out loud though when I saw that Phasma now has the battle against Finn that went to the random trooper in TFA!!

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

I’m not afraid. You will be, you will be.
    Luke is scared as hell.

  • GIBBS v2

    Hell yeah!!

  • Tom Chorlton

I love that Porg so much!!!!!!

  • rusty_t

Fantastic trailer. All you who didn’t like it are…..wrong. :O)

  • ctwins3688

2 things. Kylo better not turn to the light side, and Phasma better not lose to Finn twice…

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

I bet Rey gets frustrated with Luke, joins with Kylo who takes her to Snoke and stuff hits the fan.

    • Barney Dunn

he kills Han in front of her and she will just forget that and his battle with her?

      • Matthew Cohen

The Dark Side clouds ones judgement

      • shane

The Force teaches us, we must forgive . Forgive. Lol. No, I see your point.

  • zerobobby77

That was the most shocking experience in my life, in a bad way. The porgs, the poor FX, unexisting sound mix, all stealed ideas, space bambi… so, so, soooo horrible

    • Danny

      lmao

    • hammyhamster

The score has been underwhelming for both TFA and R1. I expect nothing less for TLJ. Disney is lucky to have the musical scores from the Lucas years as they’ve created nothing interesting of their own up to this point.

      • zerobobby77

Even worse was how it looked like a fan made trailer using footage of a random videogame with lazily pasted archive sounds of TIEs and lightsabers.

        • hammyhamster

Here’s the rub: ONCE AGAIN, Disney looks to give us ANOTHER uninspired addition to the Star Wars legacy.

As you mentioned, it’s all old “props” within this trailer used to evoke a familiar, exciteable feeling. Sh1t on movies like TPM, AOTC and ROTS all you want, but each of those movies had at least one NEW “WTF that is awesome” moment within them.

If you’re a guy and you didn’t get a ragging chub when the score for ‘duel of the fates’ began, and the boys started to disrobe, then it was time for you to hug your inner Spock, and go the way of the ‘Trek, cause this franchise wasn’t for you. Same with the disrobing of 200 jedi in the arena or anakin and OB1 stripping down… is there a hidden message there BTW 😉

But seriously, it just looks like recycled junk once again for me. GI’ve me a great new score, give me a hero, anti-hero or villain who i can rally behind or fear. From what I’ve seen two movies in (and about to be a third), I still haven’t connected on any real level to the story or characters. I hope I’m wrong with this one, but as of right now, I don’t feel like I am.

          Hopefully others enjoy it, though.

          • zerobobby77

It is far easier to make something new than yet another poor copy of the OT. Disney wants to make us all forget who George Lucas was and what he did and impose their SW over the original.

      • Funtomaz

Disney has nothing to do with the soundtracks, other than hiring the composer, that is. John Williams did the score for TFA, he does the score for TLJ. And if he’s still alive he might do the score for EP IX. Blame it on him and his lack of good ideas then. People would have been irate if Disney had hired some fresh talent and ditched John Williams for the new trilogy.
The RO score is somewhat jarring at first but after watching the movie a few times you can hear that Giachhino’s score uses all the Star Wars trademarks, but he’s a different composer with a different style.

        • hammyhamster

Disney controls who’s hired within each level of the production (including the composer), ergo; by their hiring practices they are held responsible for that part of the films quality as well.

Also, It’s not like Disney is afraid to change things up at the ladt minute if they’re not happy with how a film is being made *cough, said almost every director in the MCU and Star Wars*

          • Funtomaz

You are correct. But: as I said above, what would you (or any fan) have said if Disney had replaced Williams with someone else? People would have complained. A lot. So Williams was the right choice, even if his TFA score is lackluster. Imagine the headlines… “Disney replaces Williams with a new composer for TFA, score was said to be not right for the movie”. No way.
Quite obviously a semi retired 85 year old composer is no longer at the height of his creativity. Maybe we’ll get a new composer for Ep IX, Williams would be 87 then. But then again: who says the trailer music is even in the movie? These days we very often get music just composed for the trailer. Let’s wait and see… maybe Williams can pull it off one last (?) time and create a rousing, memorable score.

          • hammyhamster

I hear you, firing Williams or not giving him a shot would surely ruffle many feathers within the Star Wars community, but again,,Disney is a company focused on one thing – control.

For good or bad, for success or failure, Disney controls every bit of every movie they make. Therefore and any all praise or criticism falls at their feet ,even for something as sensitive as the choice of the composer.

Truth be told, after watching TFA I honestly thought that j. Williams purposely sabotaged the score… but then like you mentioned, I realized he was old and maybe he just didn’t have it anymore.

      • regissuire

Rey’s Theme, March of the Resistance and Jedi steps from TFA are masterpieces… That John Williams doesn’t re-do the themes he’s done zillions times in the past is understandable. Rey’s theme and Jedi Steps are featured in the new trailer at the same level as old famous themes “the Imperial March” and “The Force Theme”, and they feel right within those classical pieces. John Williams is still at this time the greatest composer ever and TFA did not disappoint when you hear the score several times and understand this is more of an introspective score than the previous ones. Disney has nothing to do with John Williams’s creativity. Michael Giacchino is the best new composer around (his score for Marvel’s Doctor Strange is fantastic) but the score of Rogue One pales in comparison with what John Williams did with TFA. I know George Lucas said (at the time of Episode I) that nothing could live up to the hype but it’s frustrating to see some bashing from “fans” on things that don’t deserve to be criticized. John Williams is still a musical master and not only the best but the only choice for Star Wars music. He’s untouchable.

        • hammyhamster

Read what I just read to Rum as I touch on some of this, but I’ll give you one example of a scene where the score let me down huge: The beach scene in TFA where the X-Wings bailed out the… “rebellion”?? Is that what they’re called in Disney Wars?

What didn’t I like? I enjoyed the intimate perspective with the “troopers” (again, whatever Disney calls them now) and the rebellion battling it out on the beach, but when Poe and friends came down and started taking out Tie’s I felt empty. The score, for me, was so flat and understated in that scene, that it took me out of the moment. Maybe it was Williams’ fault with the score. Maybe someone in production didn’t want the score to overpower the visuals, but either way, I enjoyed that moment much less because of their choices.

As a Star Wars nerd, my expectations are probably too high as we’ve come to expect a certain standard when it comes to the score, but to be honest, that ain’t my problem. Disney has to figure out a way to meet or exceed those standards, and two movies in, it hasn’t come anywhere close… at least for me.

Glad you found some comfort there, though!

      • RumSleg

I can’t disagree more. Neither score stuck out to me as exceptional upon leaving the theater the first time, but they’ve both really grown on me. John Williams introduced some great new themes in TFA, and Giacchino did a decent job extrapolating from Williams’s themes in crafting the Rogue One soundtrack.

        • hammyhamster

That’s cool, I can dig, but for me personally, I wasn’t moved in the least by either films audio presentation.

Maybe you’re right, maybe I have to watch it more (I watched TFA twice, and R1 twice plus once while only watching the good parts at home), but from what I heard I was strongly let down.

Other movies can get away with mediocre scores, but that’s what Star Wars *IS* to a large percentage of odd-ball fans like me.

Hope it improves for me, but glad you liked it.

          • RumSleg

I’m not claiming superior taste or anything. It took me a little while to warm up to the soundtracks, and it didn’t happen without some “work”. (An acquired taste?) I’m not sure if they would have grown on me just from watching the films, or how many times I would have had to watch them for it to happen. I put each soundtrack on in my car for about a week straight, picturing what was happening in the movie with each bit of music. Now when I rewatch the movies, it’s like a reverse feedback, and I notice the music much more.

    • rebelsfangirl

You need to get your eyes tested lol

      • zerobobby77

You’re right, with glasses i can see how badly it is filmed/lighted, has poorly replaced green screen and how much everything looks like a generic videogame’s cinematics. Thanks.

  • Caleb

    Porgbacca!

  • Matthew Vandebogert

i know trailers are edited to keep us in the dark. But i wonder if unlike ESB where yoda us trying to keep Luke, Luke oushes Rey away and instead of Luke refusing to join Vader Rey offers to join Kylo and she gets brought b4 Snoke and that makes Luke jump into action. i know its probably not how it will go. im just not liking Luje sounding afraid. otherwise im looking forward to TLJ.

  • Fiery Little One

    … oh boy…

  • TheJournalOfTheWhills

Kylo’s voiceover is possibly to Luke – “Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. It’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.”

    • DJ

And he’s actually reaching out to Luke not Rey.

  • So Chewy’s porg is the break out star of the film? Do I really need to buy another Phasma just to get her stupid pike? Can we expect more panting from Finn? December can’t arrive fast enough.

  • HanSoloMio

    Exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Albert Escobedo

    I loved the trailer.

  • Boba Fred

So geeked out right now, it looks like they redeemed themselves with Finn and Phasma this movie, that scene looked so freaking cool…… Everything did.

  • TimmytheTusken

    Rey is Snoke’s daughter

  • General Hux

AWESOME!!!! I can’t process it all yet….But that freaking ending, that ending!! Luke’s scenes were amazing, finally getting the Finn/Phasma fight that should have been in TFA, Kylo is shaping up to be the most interesting character in the ST.

All of this is overwhelmingly awesome!

    • Mike_5555

      No Hux though!

I agree about Kylo, his scenes in this trailer really caught my attention. There’s potential there.

      • General Hux

That is my one problem! Where is HUX!! 🙂

        • Mike_5555

They’re clearly saving him for his own spinoff film. 🙂

          • General Hux

Haha! I don’t recall him being in the TFA trailers much at all either so I’m not too worried.

        • CT-7567

Did you get the Force Link device? If not, go grab a box of General Mills cereal so you can get it for $15. It’s actually really cool and you get to hear parts of Hux’s speech from TFA. I like the Kylo figure too. Definitely worth $15.

          • shane

I think I’m going to put the Force Link and the Silencer in Layaway tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up on the coupon.
BTW, did you find the find the BS 3.75″ Stormtrooper and Praetorian guard yet ?

          • CT-7567

Nope. I’m wondering if I’ll ever find that wave. I’ve never found the Scarif Trooper.

          • shane

Keep checking, they have been slowly showing up. Not the Scarif though, never seen it at all.

          • General Hux

I did not purchase the Force Link yet, waiting for the TRU exclusive to hit.

          • CT-7567

I was waiting for that set too, but it won’t even be ready for Xmas or the movie. At $15 the Force Link device is worth it even if it’s just for Kylo.

        • Walter F.

Well he’s on the poster. 😉

      • Jimmy Griffin

I have a feeling we are going to get a much better portrayal of Kylo in this film.

        • CT-7567

          I hope so.

      • CT-7567

The TFA tantrums really threw me off the character. I’ve always felt that, in paper, be should be an awesome character. Darth Vader’s grandson, strong in the force, worships Vader and keeps artifacts from his life, really cool lightsaber and he’s being trained by a mysterious force-user. Hopefully this film will make me forget the tantrums. I really want to see Luke with his lightsaber, bit as time goes by it seems more unlikely.

        • RumSleg

I like the tantrums. 🙂 I think he’s trying so hard to stoke his anger, and embrace the dark side completely, and it’s not working. So his tantrums are another way (like punching himself in his bowcaster wound) to try and keep himself fired up.

          • shane

I think to say the least, whether you like Kylo or not, he IS an original character. Very original new kind of Villain, and I like Adam Driver quite well. He is an interesting guy and an excellent actor.

        • safari4ad

I loved his tantrums, they made him seem dangerous and unstable.

      • Norman

Which is fine by me…I really like Dom Gleason but he played Hux so over the top it was distracting in TFA. Maybe they intended that way but it really borderlines on over-acting to me.

        • Funtomaz

Watch some old Nazi from speeches from 1930s/1940s Germany… and you can see that the performance was clearly modeled on that. For us, now, it looks completely over the top and you wonder how anyone could take these people seriously. But they moved the masses, it’s terrifying when you think about it.

    • General Hux
    • CT-7567

That showdown with Phasma really makes me want the two-pack. 🙂 Although my SA Phasma is getting the weapons.

  • ARC-77

Has it been two months yet?

    • joecooltheman

Its barely been two hours, patience.

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

    Luke is broken.
Just like my 1978 Kenner Luke.
Not sure he can be restored.

    • Boba Fred

My speculation is that he will redeem himself in the next movie. Looks like Rey will have to find her own way, hence last scene. SO HYPED!

    • shane

Luke seemed a bit over the top to me. Hmmm. Not sure what to think but I’m still worried. Very worried actually. I might as well except it now, Luke won’t be what I expect him to be.

  • Nick S.

Yay Resistance Warships!!! Maybe the New Republic(what’s left of its governing body) finally realized, “Hey maybe these First Order people aren’t so nice. We should give help to this Resistance we keep hearing about.”
    CAN’T WAIT!!!

    • ARC-77

at 1:12 you can see the First Order’s new Super Star Destroyer

      • Nick S.

Oh I know, and it looks beautiful!

        • ARC-77

I’m looking forward to some epic space battles!

          • Nick S.

Me too! I especially want to see what that Home One looking ship is capable of!

          • ARC-77

I hope it has strong bridge deflector shields

          • Nick S.

            …. and a kamikaze-proofed bridge….

          • Stereotypical Evil Archer

            A-Wings can slice through anything.

  • hammyhamster
  • Dan

Got my tickets for 12/14 at 6 PM!!!! Don’t want to wait two more months after seeing that trailer.

  • AllThePowa

Wow… This actually hyped me compared to the teaser trailer.

It looks like the story will be complex instead of being simple… Me like.

  • Jesus’s Best Friend Floyd

    I just came……………………………..home.

  • SlothFromHoth

    I uh…

    I don’t like it?

  • AllThePowa

What’s better than receiving your first 3D printer? Having the star wars trailer come out the same day.

  • Kyle Ryckman

Wow, that’s fantastic. Can’t wait to see more Leia, Luke and Snoke

  • darthmadonna

Can we just have Rian do 9 also. I am truly excited and bummed I couldn’t buy tix tonight. I also want to go buy some Ski Speeders. Oh Hasbro come on get us some good 3.75″ love before Christmas.

  • bobcat

ì was super stoked when TFA trailers came out. the anticipation for these movies is big but im a little less enthused this time around. it does look good but so did TFA and over time that one lost its luster on me a bit. i still dont call it a rehash although some parts are too much.

it looks like some twists and turns come about. i hope it hits home in those ways more! excited to see it anyway.

i think its great Showcase showed all 6 movies all weekend long. saw most of ESB today. nothing will ever be that good so i wont be dissapointed cause i know that!

  • Captain Yorr

so see a porg HAPPY FEET movie coming soon

  • AllThePowa

I like how Rian Johnson tweaked Kylo Ren a bit from J.J.

Instead of the Darth Vader fan boy, he’s scared of what he’ll become, and knows what will come.

So instead of driving away his destiny, he’s giving in so it will be a lot less painful for him to try to resist.

  • Gloriouscollector

    Well………………..that was intense.

  • That looked terrible.

Normally I prefer forming an elaborate opinion of these things, but there’s nothing else to say. I’ll probably watch the movie on blu-ray, but just to give it a fair chance. Everything in the trailer looked soulless and as though it was written by someone who fundamentally understood nothing of what made the original Star Wars films timeless, and the prequel trilogy charming at the very least.

  • thelastwookie

Looks cheesy. I’m still hoping for the best!

  • — Jon —

Cool trailer. Just remember folks, sequels usually have a hard time living up to the original that started it all, and this trilogy has to somehow live up to the original that started it all while maintaining some expectations from years of fan-fiction/books/etc., as well as the continuance of an existing storyline (basically, they have a lot of constraints as well, unlike R1, which exceeded most people’s expectations). Keep expectations realistic and you’ll enjoy the movie more!

  • Jaken Wraith

Damm, Kylo finishes his Work with “Mom” in this one. And Rey makes it into the Throne Room.

  • BlackBeltJohnson .

Some really nice visuals, I’ll give it that. I’m still not liking what I’m seeing in Luke’s character though; my heart keeps screaming out “No, Luke wouldn’t act like this!!” Luke is a JEDI…..he’s supposed to have mastered his fear. We saw him master himself in ROTJ for pity-sakes. In this he looks paranoid and jittery.

Damn straight I can see why Mark Hamill disagreed with everything they were writing about Luke Skywalker; they are totally gutting the character before our eyes. They way he’s appearing, he’s not even half the Jedi Obi-wan was, nor even half the man. He’s a pouty, paranoid crybaby for Nerfherder-sakes.

    • Matthew Cohen

I love it. SO much better than the superhero boy scout portrayal of him in the EU.

      • Kevin Knight

I’m trying so hard to not see these movies in context to the EU that I read and enjoyed. I feel like Luke always seemed a bit too perfect (except that little foray in Dark Empire) and I always wanted him to go a little darker or scarier… so I’m holding out hope that we see some real power and emotion from Luke in this one. Force power seems so arbitrary all the time… maybe this movie will sort some of that out a bit?

    • shane

Agreed. Hopefully it’s just a major misdirect. Unfortunately I wonder how many newer fans, even care about Luke.

  • Batta Man

Just watched and it looks…like a Star Wars movie. Not a hipster so I’ll reserve judgement till I see it. I am curious about who Luke was talking about seeing raw power from. Vader was disciplined, I know nothing bout grammpa Snoke, and that leaves Kylo, or some mysterious person. If related doesn’t that make Rey and Ren brother & sister, or the very least cousins? Just conjecture…

    • Jesus’s Best Friend Floyd

Luke saw Raw power in Kylo and look how that ended. They cut to Luke flashback, climbing out of the rubble after presumably Kylo betrays him. At least thats how I read it.

      • Batta Man

I noticed that too. But keeping the theme of (skywalker) family & power in the Force, I would guess that Rey is a Skywalker. Then Ren & Rey are related. So cousins or siblings?…again this is conjecture…

        • Jesus’s Best Friend Floyd

If Rey is Luke’s kid, I hope Laura Dern isn’t the mom. She’s got that sourpuss look 24/7.

          • Batta Man

I’m picking a scab but just very curious. The only Jedi Luke has known are Obi, Vader, Yoda, and the Emperor. All disciplined…then there’s Ren… I need to stop lol…

          • Matthew Cohen

Its 100% Kylo. Right before that Snoke was going on about Kylos Raw power.

          • Tony Harmon

I’m thinking the one with raw power Snoke is talking about could be Rey. I also wonder if the first person Luke mentions he encountered is Snoke. It would definitely be a twist if Luke trained or released Snoke on the galaxy and would explain his bad disposition even more so.

  • mic windu

It is hard to comment constructively because I am buzzing after watching that. I have always enjoyed SW trailers and for me this one *hints at some untold ideas, unseen raw power? Luke met Yoda, Obi, Vader and Emp yet he has only come across it once before? Is raw power more powerful than a disciplined Jedi or Sith? Kylo deciding his mum’s fate? That looked heart wrenching and part of me would of preferred not knowing about that until the cinema (Rey meeting Snoke too). I am one happy super excited star wars fan right now and December can’t come quick enough (nor can vintage collection).

  • Jesus’s Best Friend Floyd

Everyone saying that looked terrible is a flat out clown. Don’t go see it suckas. It looks AMAZING!

  • Brian B.

Well that explains why the FO Disguise Finn figure came with the riot weapon. I was thinking he wouldn’t be in the disguise for long so I found it interesting that it came with that accessory. Now I’m really glad it came with it.

But as for the trailer itself? I’m finally hyped! Took a while for me to really get back into the sequel stuff after all the OT-era love we’ve gotten since Rogue One but now I’m ready for this! And I’m ready to see Kylo taking some inspiration from his grandfather/father in regards to his piloting. They both seem to agree that spinning is indeed a good trick.

    • grugz

I assume he has to gain access to somewhere high level or it would have made more sense for him to go in disguise as a stormtrooper as they wear helmets and you cant see their face

  • Darth_Rizzen

    I saw:
    * Pretty pictures.
    * Lots of intercuts.
    * Kylo Ren in his personal starfighter trying spinning. Because that’s a good trick.
    * Massive Imperial walkers attacking a Rebel base against a white background… Wait, what?!
    * Finn about to get his sorry backside kicked again (after Rey, TR-8R and Matt the Radar Technician), this time by a presumably miffed Captain Trashcan. I’m sorry, but I’m with the FO on this one. Go Brienne! (explains why the toys come with the stun baton at least)
    * Rey admitting that she needs guidance and getting beaten by Snoke. So, she’s not from Krypton after all.
    * Leader Snoke ripping off the Emperor’s “Fulfill your destiny” line. 😁
    * The Throne room. The toy actually looks accurate ! (blast, I’m going to need that floor piece that comes with KR, now…)

    * And most importantly:

    • I agree about the floor panel. I was going to pass but I don’t think I can.

      • Darth_Rizzen

        Precisely.
Must also think of a way to light up the floor now, since we know what it looks like in “real life”. White LEDs, perhaps?

      • Funtomaz

I’d love to have that floor panels too… But: I neither need the figure nor the other accessories… :-/

  • David Harrison

Gorgeous, sumptuous, visually unique among the saga. But most importantly, it looks like it’s going to have a real emotional punch. This stands on the edge of greatness.
But…..there’s AT-ATs! And training! On second thoughts I cant alliw myself to have fun and get hyped, it’s nothing but a rehash of Empire! I’m going to spend 18th December watching re-runs of the Ewoks cartoon and the Holiday Special on loop to remind me of the days before Disney destroyed the franchise and STAR WARS WAS GREAT AGAIN! 😉

    • Batta Man

Looks great so far. Just realize the Mythos of SW is built on the triarch of the OT. Anything and everything will be held to it…but yeah, Ep. 7 was was Ep. 4 rehashed and reservations for Ep. 8 are legit…

    • It’s all misdirection that’s making you feel that way. This is just a remake of The Empire Strikes Back.

      • Gabriel Mican

Looks like a good “remake” tho 😉

      • Funtomaz

I’m kidding, of course… but do you have inside info? Did you read the script? Was there a secret movie screening you attended? I mean, how do you know it’s a remake? 😀

        • grugz

well the proof is there, do you not remember the massive space battle in empire? the crystal caves? the porg? the ice dog/cat thing? ok so theres walkers on a white planet with red underoos but there are walkers in jedi too . just leave him to his paranoia/conspiracy theory crap and just like the rest of the normal star wars fans await the film and no doubt enjoy it…

  • zx_spectrum_30

I’d been very concerned about what I’d seen so far of TLJ and this trailer has gone a long way to removing those. Looks a much richer production than TFA, with the space battle particularly looking fantastic (trying to figure out if that is a medical frigate on one scene).

Obvious paralells between Kylo and Anakin, both the scar and that scene with the Snowtroopers mirroring the 501st in RotS. Guess we can see what’s coming in IX then.

Lots of misdirection as you would expect from a Star Wars trailer.

Leia looks fantastic and hope we see as decent amount of her.

Tickets are booked for 14 December – for the first time am excited about this.

  • rebelsfangirl

That was amazing, I’m really looking forward to this. Lots of clever editing and misdirection having the desired effect as evidenced by the comments lol.

  • Blizzard Force

Nice bit of misdirection at the end, that’s definitely Rey asking luke for help not kylo Ren as it appears.
    Looks absolutely amazing

    • RumSleg

I agree, at the end of the trailer that’s Rey in her Resistance Outfit at an Ach-To campfire asking Luke for help. But it still doesn’t mean Kylo doesn’t offer her his hand later on!!

  • Superflukullus

Now I see why Mark Hamill had problems with Luke’s new characterization, he’s a crazy paranoid old man who seems to be selfish and bitter. It would’ve been better to make Luke a wandering traveller helping planets in need and learning more about the force.

    • Boba Fred

To me, he looked more of a person with so much guilt and remorse, with so much fear. I’m actually surprised he hasn’t succumbed to the dark side with those feelings. I’m positive his character won’t stay the same and he will redeem himself in the next episode. It was actually heartbreaking to see how broken Luke is.

      • Gabriel Mican

You know who you are describing in your first sentence right? I can’t believe so many of you haven’t been able to see the parallels yet.

    • ExarKun777

      Agree with this!!

    • shane

Yes, a Luke sort of…. Gandalph. Not some twit scuttling about afraid and paranoid. But still, it’s just the trailer. Everything else looks good I guess.

  • Wedge Antilles

As a Star Wars fan, I hope I can respectfully put forward my feelings today…

Sadly today my cat “Vader” had to be put to sleep, she had severe and massive Cancer Tumor on her liver, incurable – and she literally went from perfectly fine, to only 3 days to live – I could not watch her suffer, I buried her this afternoon.

So a terrible day for me, despite getting my tickets for the premier, and seeing the new trailer today. I’d have to say this is the first time in my life that Star Wars has not been able to have an emotional effect on me.

A sad day for me, that I will never forget – I am however so glad to see so many fans excited for the trailer and the movie.

Other than that, R.I.P. my little darling Vader – I wish I could make my pain go away.

    • Bekim

So, so sorry for your loss. Having to say goodbye to a loved one is the hardest thing to do. Remember the great life you shared and smile. Time will sort out the pain. Hang in there, friend- sending love your way…

      • Wedge Antilles

Thank you. I don’t want to sound selfish, but I am in so much pain – I truly am stressed beyond. I lost most of my family in a car accident, my cat was my only companion as I live alone.

I truly am the type of person who worries about others before myself, and that includes equally animals. But i’m not sure how much more sadness I can take.

        I’ll do my best.

        • Bekim

Im so sorry to hear that. I lost my mom recently and I ended up taking care of her dog and cat after she was gone. It was her last wish. Im glad I did, as it was healing, but it was also heartbreaking at times.
If you need to chat and get some sadness out of your heart, you are welcome to text or call me.. my # is 828.216.5408 …anytime, friend.

          • Wedge Antilles

Thank you so much, and that is a beautiful thing to do, she would be super proud and happy no doubt.

I’d love to chat, but it would have to be Skype, as I am in Australia let me know if you can Skype, and I really appreciate the thought very much.

          • Bekim

I do have Skype on my MacBook, though Ive never used it, I will see if its set up when Im home from work. Hey, hang in there- and watch that trailer about 200 more times! Lol!

    • Darth_Rizzen

      Sorry for your loss. ☹

      I know how it feels.

      • Wedge Antilles

Thank you, it’s horrible and indescribable how it feels.

    • Jimmy Griffin

      I’m very sorry.

      • Wedge Antilles

        Thank You.

    • CT-7567

I’ve lost six dogs in my life. Some to illness, some to old age. The pain is not something I would wish on anyone. I also tend to name my pets after characters from SW or other fiction. You have my deepest sympathies, Falcon. 🙁

      • Wedge Antilles

Thanks CT – you are so right – the pain is hurting me so much.

My other two cats before Vader, they both lived till old age – I really suffered when I lost one, then a few years later Chewie. Then I got Vader, sadly Vader was unlucky – just nature and a fairly rare cancer, she was only middle aged, so it makes me so sad.

But I’ve lost so much to death in my family – quiet frankly I am burnt out from all the sadness – I am an optimistic person – but I will not be sad when my day comes – it will mean I won’t have to see any more sadness.

Again, many thanks for your thoughts, they really are appreciated – and I really am sad you have lost so many special buddies, its just not fair is it.

        • CT-7567

If life was fair dogs and cats would have the same lifespan as humans. 🙂 Just remember you did the right thing for your cat. Stay strong my friend. I believe when I die I’ll see a lot of old friends. So maybe you’ll see Vader again? Also, don’t let this stop you from getting another cat. When my dog Luke died suddenly in my house I swore I’d never get another pet. But I have another dog now. I’ve lost a lot of people too. Sometimes I feel like death has followed me for most of my life. The pain won’t go away, but it’ll get better. Focus on the good memories. 🙂

          • Wedge Antilles

I’ll do my best, I’m pretty i’ll with depression and PTSD from what happened to my family – so only time will tell how much I can take I suppose.

It will really hurt me for a long time loosing Vader, but in my situation I need to vent my sadness, anger and truly not happy energy into something positive somehow, as my mental health is very poor, it is no secret, and I am not scared or embarrassed to admit it, so the advice for someone like me living alone is to get another cat to love straight away, not to replace Vader, but for me to put the stress into something positive, like giving love to another cat (I’m going to the Cat Rescue Center in the morning, they have a kitten they think will be perfect for me),

I have been through the grinder, like others have as well of course. I’ve been dumped with tragedy, in my short life, that some people never experience till they are 80! – I have been immersed in utter sadness since I was 29, my life was essentially taken away at 29, and since then more on top of that. But that is what life dealt me.

Anyway, here is a figure I made of Vader a few years back, immortalized as a 3.75 figure (yeah, I hunted down on eBay a to scale cat set for 3.75 scale figures, and they had a close enough one to Vader’s color in the set, so I did not have to paint it (her) cat figure. (was a Danish company from memory who makes the cat set.

But like I say, I will mourn for Vader for a long long time, but I remember when Yoda died, I had Chewie as well then, and she was so much help, she knew I needed love, and I was able to concentrate on loving her while I grieved.

This time I only had Vader, so the house is not a home tonight – it is a sad place, it was sad last night as well, as Vader was in Hospital – but I did get to bring her home today for a few hours to say goodbye to her room, and home – very sad, then she was put asleep by a very lovely lady vet, who helped me thorugh, I held onto Vader’s paw as she was sent to cat heaven….

What more can I say, I am crushed….

But many thanks to all for your comments, it is good to know I am not alone on this planet….

          • David Harrison

This is very sad to here of a fellow fan suffering. I wish you all the best 🙂 Get that new kitten tomorrow and make its life a joy!

          • Wedge Antilles

Many thanks, and to all I say thanks – I really do want to give another kitten a great life, in remembrance to Vader, Vader would want me to help another fellow cat, I know that.

          • shane

Perhaps wait a little while, and then get a kitten. Or 2 .

          • Alientek

I am so sorry for your loss of little Vader, and even more so having had to make one of the hardest decisions there is. I have had several cats & dogs throughout my life and have had to make the decision more times than I want to remember, and each time it never was easy or easier. Every time I felt guilt for making it even though it was the right thing to do. The worst was my last cat ‘Jedi’ (who looked very much like your Vader). He had more personality than any cat should be allowed. My friends loved him and always wanted to see him. He made it to 18 years, and in his last month he suffered with dementia and at times didn’t know who I was. It was the last time I could make that decision. That was 12 years ago.

11 years ago my wife found a tiny malnourished chihuahua puppy hiding in the bushes in our backyard. She was in bad shape and showed signs of having been abused. My wife convinced me to have us keep her, and named her Goldie, happy that she wouldn’t have a Star Wars related name. Until a few years later with a certain droid on the Clone Wars. At first I didn’t want to even keep her, but never did I expect that I would have the deepest bond I have ever had with any of my pets. She made me a better person. One thing that she always did, when my wife and I would get in a heated argument (fight) she would come INTO the room and with her ears back like she was in trouble, look at me like she was sorry. Stopped the fighting EVERY time. One day February of last year, we were playing fetch with her favorite toy, a plush angry bird Stormtrooper. I threw it across the kitchen, she started to chase it and suddenly collapsed on the floor and died from cardiac arrest. It is the worst memory I have, but I am so thankful because I was with her when she passed. After losing Jedi, I didn’t want to think about having another pet. After losing Goldie I don’t want to think about not having one. Now my wife & I have another chihuahua, she named Chuy (Chewie if I am asked).

I wanted to share this with you not to make this about me, but in hoping that you won’t feel alone in what you are going through. All of my hopes that you will find a little feline apprentice to rule the galaxy with.

    • flipfriddle

It can happen fast. My chubby black cat was fine one day and then couldn’t walk the next. I had to put her to sleep three days later due to a tumor on her spine. It sucked and I still miss her. Stay strong.

      • Wedge Antilles

Thank you. Yes it happens so fast sometimes, Vader was absolutely perfect 3 days ago, then, bam – went down hill to the point that today the vet said she would not last much more than over 24 hours, and I could not see her sad little face suffer for no reason – I do as the vet says, she had to be taken out of misery.

Bu like I say, she was perfectly happy, jumping, playing etc. 3 days ago – but apparently the tumor broke though a vital organ and the organ was bleeding into her, hence the fast decline.

No ones fault, just nature – she had a good life, that everyone who knows me knows, I just miss her so much it hurts more than anything.

        • SpaceKnight

Sorry about your loss, you have my sympathies. I know how you must be feeling. I lost my cat just last week due to spinal cancer and she had to be put to sleep. It was the saddest day of my life see her for the last time. She was as frisky as a kitten one day (though she was 10 years old) and the next was crying out in pain and started losing control of her legs. It just came out of nowhere, the cancer got into her spinal column and that was it :(.

Stay strong and think of all the good times you had with her. I find it helps to think of her happier days.

    • Walter F.

Nothing pleasant about losing a pet. 🙁

      • Wedge Antilles

It really hurts, you are right.

        • Walter F.

          It does that.

    • safari4ad

I’m so sorry. We had to put one of ours to sleep due to cancer, and it was literally the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I was a wreck for weeks, and i still think of her all the time.

      • Wedge Antilles

Thank You. The first cat (Yoda) I had to have put to sleep in 2009 for some reason I had a near on year breakdown (remembering this was on top of my family loss earlier) – and Yoda was Adopted for me as a remembrance to my brother a few weeks after he was killed (a kind resurgent

    • localfromiskalon

Really sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to lose a little buddy.

    • shane

Sorry about Vader, I have 5 cats myself. And I have OLD FRIENDS buried on my property.

  • James

Visuals are really great, but why has Luke become something he is not? The way he has been portrayed in this new trilogy is WRONG. Have the writers even watched the OT? Luke is a Master Jedi, like Qui-gon for example. Can you see a master Jedi acting this way? No because master Jedi have control of emotions. This Luke seem way emotional and full of anger? not at all were we left off at ROTJ. “This deal is getting worse all the time! “-Lando

  • bmales01

It was too late for me last night. 🙂

    • General Hux

You mean you didn’t want to stay up and watch the Bears vs Vikings crap show? C’mon!

      • RumSleg

It was 3-2 at halftime. Felt like I was still watching the baseball playoffs with that score.

  • Matthew Cohen

The trailer was absolutely fantastic. The new movies have been amazing and I’m so hyped for this

  • bmales01

My 4-year-old daughter laughed at the Porg. twice

    • RumSleg

I showed my kids the trailer this morning and they missed the end of it because they were too busy laughing at the porg.

    • Sith Lord Jacen

the Porg scene made me puke it was so pathetic, that sealed the deal I’m not going to this

      • General Hux

        Good for you.

      • JohnMorog

hahahahaha nice, that’s what did it for you? lol

  • Ariel Araluce

I have been let down sooooo many times before by star wars trailers that I just don’t trust them, no matter how good they look.

  • 11Eleven11

I got a lump in my throat when Luke spoke. 34 years of waiting …

    • Funtomaz

I really hope will Luke will get out of his funk real soon in the movie… I don’t like that paranoid hermit attitude he displays in the trailer 😀 You can see why Mark Hamill fundamentally disagreed with every choice Johnson made.

      • CT-7567

Agreed. I saw a lot that I like in this trailer, but the portrayal of Luke doesn’t feel right.

        • Gabriel Mican

Well maybe if you would lose a temple full of kids to death than maybe you wouldn’t be a happy chap either. Just sayin’…its been many years since the ‘chilling with Ewoks by the fire” Luke…

        • darthvaderdisco

Luke is a broken man in this movie after failing to resurrect the Jedi. Kind of a Yoda/Vader combo Luke, but hopefully wielding a purple lightsaber. Please let it be purple.

          • 11Eleven11

Please don’t get your hopes up for this. There’s a .00001 percent chance his lightsaber is purple. At this point, I think it is 50-50 whether we ever see Luke with a lightsaber again at all.
Rey is another matter. I could see her losing the Skywalker saber and building her own, and it being purple. And double-bladed to mirror her staff.

        • shane

Disney wants NEW fans to see Luke in a different light. That I find to be unexceptable. BUT……..I haven’t seen the movie yet so no judgement until then. It seems I’m all in for everything in the trailer but still wonder just exactly where they are going with Luke here.

      • 11Eleven11

Agreed. I hope they don’t draw out his reluctance. I mean, Yoda changed his mind pretty quickly. We KNOW he’s going to train her, so get on with it. However, judging from the costumes, it appears Luke’s hesitance lingers. He’s wearing the different costume when he says he is afraid of her power.
The shock of the trailer for me was seeing Luke buried in the rubble of his Academy. I was just sure he was away when when Ben destroyed the place and he came in too late.

      • General Hux

He clarified those comments since then, everyone is taking them out of context.

    • regissuire

Technically he already spoke in 2015 in TFA … Just, it was in the 2nd trailer, doing the voiceover

      • 11Eleven11

But we didn’t SEE it. 🙂

        • regissuire

You said about “spoke”, not “see”, lol … I agree that was nice to have both;)

  • Walter F.

    He Speaks!!
Looks like Luke and Leia never meet back up.

  • Jaken Wraith

I am LOVING the Cinematography in alot of the Scene’s. The color’s of that “Crystal Cave” looking world the Falcon is flying thru, and the overhead Shot of Kylo walking with Troop’s look’s awesome, along with Finn and Phasma’s face-off and the color’s reflecting in her Helmet. And i love how they make it seem the exact opposite of what will most likely happen. Kylo reaching out his hand look’s to be in the “Force-back” of the Luke’s Temple’s destruction when he “tempt’s” Rey. And it look’s as if Kylo taking the shot at “Mom” is early in the Film, he is still wearing the Bandage over his Scar.

The Trailer did what it’s supposed to do with me though, i took my ride into Work this morning listening to the “Revenge Of The Sith” Soundtrack lol. I have to grab the Soundtrack for “Force Awakens” or “The Last Jedi” now.

  • WampaClaw

It is amazing it seems like Luke is in real trouble though….

  • Walter F.

Well I’m going to watch it.
It better be good. Here’s hoping.

  • grugz

really liked that, much better than the teaser. the new walkers are mahoosive and we get newer versions of the old ones and an updated at-st hope the snowtroopers get some action this time . is rey gonna turn bad? is kylo gonna turn that frown upside down?

  • regissuire

I think the point of the Sequel Trilogy is to put the emphasis on how “wrong” the Jedi are. When you think about it, after ROTJ the dark side was completely defeated, so how come that no matter how good Luke’s intentions are, the dark side managed its way ? Having some loving and caring parents and Force sensitive mother and uncle didn’t prevent the dark side “crawling” its way back full force through Kylo Ren … So Luke in exile makes sense as he went to a return to the “fundamentals” and “basics” of the Force, trying to understand how the Force works and what makes it so that the jedi are destined to fail protecting the galaxy from the dark side no matter what. That’s why he went back to the First Jedi Temple. Probably the Jedi are acting for the dark side without them realizing that (like Palpatine manipulating everyone in the Prequel)… Rey does fit nicely within this picture. She’s probably been created by the midichlorians so to replace Anakin. She is the new “chosen one” reincarnate … I sincerely hope Qui-Gon Jinn will return to explain how he managed to become a “Force Ghost” and I hope Anakin Skywalker will return as well. Now that you think about it, Anakin managed to become a “Force Ghost” without any help at the end of ROTJ. Whereas Obi-Wan became one with the Force thanks to Yoda’s training (who was taught himself by the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn as per explained by Yoda at the end of ROTS). I think the whole TFA movie was misleading in its apparent simplicity. I believe we’ll realize it is more complex than what initially perceived and it should prove interesting at the end. I loved this trailer, very emotional.

    • dogbite

I still like to believe Snoke is Palpatine’s master, & having created Anakin as is hinted at in RotS, has now come back for the returns on his investment: Luke & the Solo siblings…sorry, Leia 🙁

If Rey & Ben were trained since birth – the first Skywalkers to do so – it makes sense their potential as superweapons approaching power perhaps near that of their grandfather with enough time.

  • Commander Joe276

This looks wonderful! Can’t wait to see how Rey, Kylo, and Luke deal with the “Grey Jedi” concept. Seems like we’ll get some very interesting and revealing dialog between Kylo/Rey and Luke/Rey

  • RumSleg

What do people think about the crystal-looking caves where the Falcon is being chased by TIEs? Are we guessing that is underground Crait?

    • I thought that was the next Death Star. No? It looked like the Battle of Endor sequence when it flew through the center of the Death Star II.

      • RumSleg

Is this a rehash of ESB or ROTJ? Make up your mind! 😉

I agree it was reminiscent of the DSII superstructure, but I think it was rocks/crystals, not machinery.

        • CharlesUlysses

Well, an ESB rehash would necessitate the MF narrowly escaping a ‘cave’ of some kind while being pursued by TIEs.

      • zerobobby77

And also we saw the exact same sequence in TFA, just inside the crashed Star Destroyer.

    • Funtomaz

Most people think it’s Crait. The red crystals (or whatever that is) can be seen on the surface as well.

    • Jimmy Griffin

      That was my guess.

      • That’s been your answer to everything.

        • Jimmy Griffin

I’m just fascinated by the idea of an entire planet covered in salt. Is there another planet in that system covered in pepper? I like to think so.

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Run, run, run, jump, I can be a backpack while you run.

    • ExarKun777

Hahahahaha, I wish I could up vote this more than once!!

    • CharlesUlysses

Great, now I’m going to have that in my head ALL day…

Stand on your head and lift… me up with your special gift.
Swing from a hairy vine… I can be your backpack while you climb.

    • JohnMorog

Swing from a hairy vine, I can be your backpack while you climb. mwwah ah ah ah ahhh ah ah

One day I rolled over a log and underneath it was a tiny stick and I was like, “that log had a child.”

My wife hates that I have that song practically memorized.

  • ExarKun777

Yea yea it looks great and dramatic and all, but I’ll not be tricked twice!! I’m being cautious now.

  • Coleman Miller

    I already have my ticket.

  • shane

Visually it looks amazing. I now have no worries about that. But I am even more worried about the direction they are taking Luke.
Is there going to be a VERY AFRAID, VERY SCARED LUKE SKYWALKER action figure ?

    • Walter F.

      Better than the other one.

  • Jaken Wraith
    • You don’t know that.

      • Jaken Wraith

Yeah, he got that Feather on his Mouth by kissing them because they are so cute lol. They say Chewie in TLJ is VERY cranky after just losing Han.

  • matt

Loved it. Very impressed. It seems Rian Johnston actually knows what he’s doing. Hope that bastard Abrams is taking notes and learning.

  • Henry

The fan made super cut is amazing. It’s got me more excited than last night. Anyone else think the scene at the end, where Kylo Ren reaches out to help Rey, that might be a dream or something similar to Luke meeting Vader on Dagobah?

  • Ross

Well I think it looks great! I’ve warmed up to TFA a lot since it came out and I enjoy it more and more with each viewing. Admittedly a lot of that is due to Han Solo’s presence but getting Luke scenes and more Leia will be awesome. I really hope they don’t give chewie CGI eyes throughout – they messed up chewie’s look in TFA aside from the last few scenes. Adam Driver was superb in Girls, can’t wait to see more of him here. Hoping for a Lando cameo – a long shot but you never know.

I’m happy with the positive response here. For all the complaining we do, it’s nice to know Star Wars fans still like Star Wars.

    • Jimmy Griffin

      Well said.

    • Gloriouscollector

I know right, I mean come on it’s a new Star Wars movie what else do people want.

    • General Hux

That will change December 15th, don’t worry.

      • JohnMorog

        I don’t downvote things often. ;P

        • General Hux

Haha! I’m joking, I love TFA and Rogue One….Not a complainer about the “New Star Wars.”

You know it to be true though….December 15th, the complaining commences.

          • JohnMorog

            I know, that’s why I downvoted it haha 🙁

Hamill looks like he’s nailed it. I was worried his acting might not translate as Luke so long after but even those few seconds just felt like Luke had never left us. This film looks like it will knock TFA out the park. JJ’s possibly going to have the work cut out for him to equal or better this film going from this trailer.

    Let the speculation begin!

How are you today? I believe in a higher power too. A “divine architect,” as the Freemasons would put it.

    • Wedge Antilles

Still empty inside, the pain will last as long as it does, I wish I had the power to overcome it, but I don’t.

When a loved one is taken, you just look up and want to hug them, it hurts so much the totality of never being with them ever again.

I did adopt another Kitten from the cat center today, there were so many varied great kittens and cats. I chose an 8 week old White lower half with gray tabby pattern about 3/4 the rest. Very affectionate cat, she is asleep in my lap as I type this.

His name is BB-8, and he will be loved.

But the pain of Vader stays, new Kitty is not a replacement for my beloved Vader, but is a new buddy that wants an owner to love him, and I’ll make sure of that.

One thing that was beautiful to see today, while I was there a 1 year old 3 legged cat was adopted, he lost the leg in a car incident, and the previous owner could not afford reconstruction, so the leg was removed. But the cat was fantastic, I’d have probably adopted him if my house did not have levels. His new owners will be very pleased – I could see how good that cat was, they all are in there own way of course…

Not impressed with it at this point. I don’t like the direction they seem to be taking with Luke. Hamill’s acting is amazing, but it just doesn’t fit Luke, imo. I can understand why he wasn’t happy with what Rian Johnson did with his character.

Hopefully there was a lot of trailer deception.

  • HanSoloMio

Still shocks me that people want this one dimensional version of Luke. Like people can’t change due to their experiences, and he’s just supposed to be this happy go lucky man-child still. Oh wait, what site am I on….?

    • Hmm, I don’t appreciate the dig at the site.
People are entitled to their opinion of Luke just as you’re entitled to yours.

The whole point of dragging him into the dark side of the Force is so they can rewrite Star Wars history with a female-centered character at the helm of the light side of the Force. It’s why so many are rejecting the Sequel Trilogy. It’s not because of the good story or necessary plot. It’s to reverse/rewrite what has been established by Lucas.

      • HanSoloMio

        LOL

    • Batta Man

A silly guess. Maybe Luke turns to dark then Rey wins Ren back…and as brother n sister they destroy Luke n Snoke…I luv conjecture…

  • This is the MOST ENTERTAINING comment in this entire thread! Thank you for making my day! Have a wonderful day. Please keep commenting because this visceral unhinging is just the greatest!

  • This is frightening.

I’m afraid of what might happen if you find out Paul doesn’t like your favorite flavor of ice cream next.

  • Biggest never means best. I don’t care that TFA was a blockbuster. It was crappy regardless of its success.

    • HanSoloMio

Well you didn’t say best, you said people are rejecting it Paul – the link was an objective refutation of that premise. I know, & everyone on here who didn’t just get here – we all know you didn’t like TFA but a lot of people did, myself included! And for TLJ everyone will fall somewhere on the continuum.

  • mic windu

The scene with Kylo and Leia, notice how the people in the background on Leia ship aren’t really reacting as if they are under attack? My guess is this could be edited together but actually different moments in the film …or the crew didn’t know the cameras were rolling! Either way a brilliant moment but if it is in the film I’m gutted I saw it in the trailer on my phone for the first time!

  • ShipGirlLover

Really hyped by it. I kind of don’t want Phasma to die here but it looks like she will. Can’t see Finn losing again, especially since he has the Spin Master’s TRAITOR Stick.

Obvious misdirection, but I feel like Snoke may die here if they are confronting him this early. Then perhaps Kylo goes even crazier if he does kill his mom.

Could also have Rey and Kylo team up to save Luke if he goes bad.

Yeah, I can picture you being one of these kids. Nothing wrong with having a ton of passion.
