Rumor Report: Walmart Loses Exclusivity To TBS [P3] SA 3.75" Figure Line

We are talking “pre-return of TVC” here. We all knew that giving Walmart the exclusive TBS [P3] 3.75″ super-articulated basic figure line was probably the debacle of the ages. In fact, it may have been the worst decision for the health of the SA 3.75″ Star Wars line even beyond The Phantom Menace 3D decisions made in 2012. (more….)

Well, JTA has learned that there is fire within the smoke of $5.84 markdowns and the inability to find certain newer figures like the latest Ponda Baba wave and the Scarif Stormtrooper at your local Walmart. Walmart no longer has exclusivity to The Black Series [Phase III] 3.75″ super-articulated line anymore. Thank the Maker! This will also impact Force Friday, but you’ll have to wait for more information on this! This does not mean you’ll never see these figures again at Walmart, but it won’t be the only place you will be able to find them. (More to come…. stay tuned!) Oh and as with anything we report in this fashion, you should treat this as a “rumor report” until confirmed by Hasbro, so please take this as such.

Didnt you report and confirm this at SW Celebration in Orlando?

    • This isn’t about The Vintage Collection. Please read.

      • Rivesjunctionite

I ain’t got time to read. I go straight to the comments.
Don’t tell me how to live!

        • bmales01

Paul really should do some type of topic-based thread telling us about these things.

          • bobcat

he made it clear. i dont get the confusion. its all about the over priced garbage laying around wal mart atm. even at 10 bucks a pop most of these arent selling here. its too much of the same wave. the Han one that sux. way too much of that wave made its way here over the last year. plus the retail price of 20 dollars after taxes for a stupid little figure is not helping.

          • bmales01

He made nothing clear. The WM exclusive line was cancelled at Celebration Orlando when Yazflow brought back the TVC line and said it be available everywhere. There was never going to be two lines with the same repacks running concurrently

          • bobcat

well i thought it made sense. what do i know though πŸ™‚ haha

          • CJ

Hasbro actually said there might be overlap. There was definitely supposed to be more coming in late 2017 or early 2018.

          • bmales01

Really? I dont remember that at all and its asinine from a business standpoint.

Yazflow needs all those repacks for TVC

          • CJ

The alternative was not supporting episode 8 in an articulated line.

          • bmales01

I just assumed that E8 would have a new movie-centric cardback, not TBS

          • CJ

It will. For the main line. The one without elbows and knees.

          • bmales01

Yes, but they said the 5POA would have more articulation, so 5POA is gone anyways.

I figured they’d just push the SA E8 figs to TVC in 2018. and then have their 5POA+ line available at launch

          • CJ

Yes. But that will still be “non-premium” articulation. Like hinge knees and swivel elbows.

          • bmales01

I get that. I figured they’d just push true SA E8 figs out when TVC returns. That way they’d actually pack some new figs. I never assumed otherwise

          • Rivesjunctionite

Crap, I thought I understood this post until I read this thread…

          • NO IT WASN’T!

          • bmales01

So Yazflow was going to pilfer old SA figs and repack them simultaneously under two separate carded “brands”?

That is the most asinine thing I have ever heard. And its Yazflow, so it must be true

          • CJ

Yeah, Hasbro would never ever have the same figure available in multiple lines with different packaging and a different price. Never.

          • bmales01

It was my fault for giving them the benefit of the doubt.

          • CT-7567

TBS AND TVC? That can’t be..

      • bmales01

Was there ever a chance of TVC and TBS continuing concomitantly with the same type of figs? If the answer is no, then Orlando already told us this

        • DustinW

I think you misunderstand, the Vintage Collection reboot is not happening until Spring 2018. Paul here is saying that the next (and presumably last) wave of the 3.75″ black series, which is coming out in the Fall of 2017, will not be a Walmart exclusive like it currently is.

          • bmales01

Then he should be more explicit and stop speaking in riddles

          • DustinW

            Let’s call in Sherlock..

      • CJ

Everything is about the vintage collection now. If it isn’t, why post it?

        • And you’re supposed to be the smart one. You can’t figure this out? REALLY?

          • CJ

Figure what out? Is this a puzzle? Is Ponda Baba a clue? Pb. Lead. Rhymes with bed. The Black Series will become a Bed, Beth and Beyond exclusive.

            Nailed it.

          • bmales01

You need to use your decoder ring and only read Paul’s message during a lunar eclipse on a rainy Thursday

          • I am heading to your Facebook page to message you.

          • bmales01

You use Facebook! The second sign of the apocalypse

          • Rivesjunctionite

Do Jews even have an apocalypse?

          • bmales01

I am not sure. I am one of those bad Jews who doesnt follow any rules and didnt pay attention in Hebrew school. I just collected the Bar Mitzvah checks and bonds

          • I’ve learned in my short time dealing with bmales01 that saying “Merry Christmas” causes an apocalypse. So he MUST believe in them.

          • bmales01

why you dirty little…..oh I can never stay mad at my Paulie

          • CJ

            Gross.

  • Mark

Love ’em or hate ’em, if you have some good Walmarts in your area that actually get new product and regularly rollback prices and have amazing clearances, life is good. (like for me, for instance)

I’m definitely looking forward to everything being everywhere though don’t get me wrong but you can always count on Target and TRU to be at msrp for way too long. I wonder if we can expect Walmart exclusive SA’s to be reboxed for TRU, Target, etc. shortly?

    • Do you think retail will ever be able to recover though? (As in get to the way it was?)

      • Rivesjunctionite

I think the golden age of 2008-2011 is over. I seriously doubt we’ll ever see that again unless they let the line rest (i.e., stop producing 3.75 product for 5 years or so). They really need something new to goose interest again. Alternatively, they could just let other companies produce 3.75 product.

        • PeakOB1

I think Hasbro is too afraid to let go the rights to produce 3.75
they “hold it hostage” on so many levels, hoping the more dedicated collectors bite on some of their new products like six inch.

      • Mark

Man I don’t even know. It’s been so long since the good old days that I’m not even sure if what I remember is accurate. When I was a little kid I don’t remember being overly aggressive trying to find everything and yet I ended up with every figure in every line (except for a few from POTF 1985) as they came out and my mom was buying me 1 maybe every few weeks or so. I want it to be like that again but I don’t know what has to be done to get back to that. In the 80’s scalpers had to have toy shops but now every other person on earth has an Ebay store.

  • TheTNToyCollector

But, but… The line was working out so well with Walmart. πŸ™‚

  • So is this a rumor or a certainty? The fine print says “rumor” but it sounds like its definite. Either way, it would make things a bit easier. One walmart I go to has a cardboard display box on the top shelf that fits two rows of 12-15 figures, and its nothing but Jyns and Finns. The pegs are full of the same, sprinkled with both of the old folks figures.

  • Marvin

They must have seen the scalper R2D2 price

  • JAL

Does it matter at this point? There were no other scheduled releases coming after the Ponda Baba wave.

    • Rivesjunctionite

There was a Ponda Baba wave? Huh. Last I saw in the store was the E7 Han wave.

      • Cody Brown

I mean didn’t you see them available online at convenient times such as 2:48 Am to 3:01 AM or possibly when they flashed in and out of availability for nanoseconds during the time people would actually be awake

        • Rivesjunctionite

Oh, that was what that was!

    • CJ

It depends what you mean by scheduled.

      • bmales01

Wait, so we are basing this rumor on another rumor?

        • CJ

No It’s based on a rumour.

          • bmales01

Oh dont you start bringing in the Queen’s English with all those extraneous vowels! US English is messed up enough as it is

    • Not true. How soon you forget about all those “rumor reports” we post.

      • JAL

Well none that anyone other than those like you that get to hear directly from Hasbro. I have not heard of any other waves after Ponda Baba wave. Luke from TFA was tossed about as coming “at some point” but i never heard of any others. And it won’t matter who gets to offer them at this point. Everything Hasbro says is a lie. I don’t trust a word out of their mouth.

  • Glenn P. Winkler

As a collector of many lines over the years I have learned to dread the term “Walmart exclusive”. It always means utterly chaotic distribution, with some stores getting zillions that are later put on clearance and other entire regions getting absolutely zero, all sans any reason or rhyme.

  • Rivesjunctionite

OK, does that mean that WM is still holding all the Cassians and Shoretroopers hostage in their warehouse somewhere? Or do we not know?

  • CJ

Interesting. Hasbro seemed oddly noncommittal when you talked to them. Can you say if these will but brick and mortar retail at all? Or are we looking at an online “last wave” again?

  • bobcat

id say the price of 17 bones and change in Canada had everything to do with them not selling very well. opening it up to more stores just give them more chance of sales at prices like that. twats

    • dogbite

You ever see the Rogue One waves up in the great white north?

  • Between this and the rumor they are going to add more articulation across the 3.75 line going forward… Some mighty interesting developments… Sounds like Hasbro is realizing they took a few steps that ended up knee deep in poodoo.

    • bobcat

it is starting to sound like things are going back to the old ways of doing things. even ROTS type of articulation and non exclusive would do the trick and make a lot of people a lot more happy then the current state of things

    • Sithewok

I missed the rumor of adding articulation to the basic 3.75″ line. Was that reported here or elsewhere? (Don’t want to be that lazy guy, but I have looked and can’t find the story. Thanks.)

  • MyenShi

Ding dong the witch is dead.

    • CJ

      Which old witch?

      • Rivesjunctionite

        The wicked witch!

        • bmales01

I feel like DD Munchkins now

  • darthmadonna

Promising yet scary at the same time. lol So hypothetically we could see some Last Jedi TBS3.75 product and possibly at any or all chain retailers?

    • CJ

Or maybe none at all. It’s all very murky.

      • darthmadonna

Well none at all is always the most likely option anymore with this hobby

  • Jaken Wraith

WIth supposedly only 1 more Wave left then the change-over to TVC Fig’s coming, think the other major Retailer’s will make spece for them for such a limited time? Why would Target take on a “Peg-Jam” of all the older ones now? No one is buying them anymore, only the new Wave’s.

    • CJ

      Websites don’t need shelf space.

      • Jaken Wraith

At least the last Wave will be available all over. But the price will go up that’s for sure. Say goodbye to $12.

        • CJ

          I wouldn’t bet on that.

        • Rivesjunctionite

I wish they’d just jack them to $20 and put a buttload of screen-accurate accessories, BAD pieces, or some other sensible packin.

Wait, this is the same company that invented “Build a Weapon.” Forget I said anything.

        • The rumor report doesn’t say that though.

          • Jaken Wraith

Only Walmart with the buying Power they have having as many Stores as they do can sell them for $12. Why TVC Fig’s are going to be at least $15. The fact that TVC Fig’s are going to be more expensive has been reported here.

          • I was referring to the part of them being “all over” this fall. I agree the price will go up.

          • Jaken Wraith

I’m trying to be positive lol. I could picture them in the Force Friday DIsplay’s at all the Stores though.

          • Or does it? πŸ™‚

          • Rivesjunctionite

            don’t you start with that.
            I’m confused enough

          • Jaken Wraith

What does Robot Kingdom sell them for? They have been the only other place i have ever seen them sold.

          • Danny

            BBTS sells them as well.

          • It says Amazon is getting them and a post-Original Trilogy Collection-style assortment later this fall. πŸ˜€

  • Funtomaz

Just a theory… maybe Hasbro wants to see how well a non-exclusive SA 3.75 in line does in the fall / winter when the new marketing push for TLJ starts so they can finetune their decisions for the TVC line in spring 2018?

    • Jaken Wraith

I bet there will be alot of Market Research associated with this move. Prob closely monitor how they do at each Retailer.

    • Danny

Just a theory, walmart sucks and Hasbro wants none of their bull crap anymore. Decisions have already been made for TVC, it’s coming back to all retailers. The 3.75″ SA Black Series will be no more after one last wave this fall.

    • Thundrstruckd

That would be something I would like to see. And it could work for all involved. A movie themed line with 9POA, focusing on whatever movie is current for all ages and casual collectors, with the VC line more collector focused covering all eras of the brand, with fan chosen repacks and highly requested figures like Yakface.

  • Aric

    Hallelujah

  • Walter Edinger

what if this was to be the end of the line for tbs at walmart all along until the TVC picks back up again next spring? why keep it going that long? he wait will be frustrating yes but then come spring the feeding frenzy will begin like chumming for sharks and the scalpers will be out in force.

  • Jimmy Griffin
  • ARC-77

Well it’s about time. I still haven’t seen anything past the Jyn/Deathtrooper wave at any of the walmarts near me. Now I can not see stuff in other stores too!

    • Nick S.

I feel you, I’ve only seen the Death Trooper once! Jyn has appeared a number of times. But I have not seen hide nor hair of the Cassian/Shoretrooper wave!

      • CadeSky

I have actually never seen ANY of these four figures at retail. In fact, my only direct evidence that they were ever produced is that I once ordered Cassian through Walmart’s website. I really think he’s a great figure, and I bet the others are too!

        • ARC-77

Yup, I got a Cassian and a couple shoretroopers from walmart .com during the brief time they were available for retail price (thanks JTA!), but they are all pretty cool figures. I wouldn’t mind if they were re-released on vintage cards in 2018.

          • CadeSky

That’s what I’m kind of holding out for now. Not going to get stressed about finding these nearly-impossible-to-obtain figures now or cave in to paying scalpers. If they do TVC right (which obviously a lot of people are worried about), these figures should definitely be “coming back.”

      • Funtomaz

Maybe they were all delivered to Germany where Jyn and Cassian peg warmed to death at TRU? Maybe it was the very sensible price of 19 euros ($21.50) that kept the masses away, but what do I know…

    • Nathaniel D

I haven’t seen anything past the Ahsoka wave!! I have never seen any Rogue One 3.75 Black Series figures. In my area in Canada it’s only Walmart and TRU that sell figures though so I’m a little nervous as TRU is already full of (crap) stuff.

Probably will only find these waves in the future in the States if I go visit.

      • Tom P.

It’s bad enough we haven’t even seen wave 4 of the basic line here yet. I don’t see my TRU ordering these figures when they can’t even sell the 6″ line.

      • ARC-77

Wow, that sounds terrible. All of the retailers need to do something to get rid of all the junk noone wants before for TLJ and TVC, because now I fear for the success of those lines as well.

    • mz

I agree. My Walmart just just got the line with General Leia and Han Solo figures. The last time I saw new figures was in November last year.

      • ARC-77

It makes me wonder if we will start seeing these later waves in late 2017-early 2018, when we will be wanting other stuff of course.

        • mz

With the way things have been I’m thinking early 2018. But since other stores are now getting TVC maybe distribution might be better, since it’s going to multiple stores instead of just Walmart.

  • Grand admiral thrawn

Hey Paul! First off I want to say I’m happy for anyone who collects 3.75 sa and I think it should be a mainstream line. I however am a 6 inch collector and even though I think 3.75 sa and 6 inch black series should coexist, hasbro has spent the last few years completely focused on 6 inch and now that hasbro is promoting the return of the vintage collection (which I am still excited about despite focusing on 6-inch) that hasbro will push 6 inch figures to the side. If anyone could shed light on my concern I would be most appreciative, thanks

    • Funtomaz

Just my guess… as long as 6 inch figures will sell, the line will continue. Also, we’ll have to see how the general Star Wars fan (not us hardcore fans here on JTA) will accept the TVC line. IF the price for a 3.75 in TVC figure is only slightly less than for a 6 inch figure (say… $15 instead of $20) then a bigger 6 inch figure might appear to be a better deal to some people at least… I don’t know of course.
Adam Pawlus from Entertainment Earth is apparently of the opinion that TVC 2.0 could perhaps have a limited run only.
I personally think that the 6 inch line will at least continue until the current batch of movies are done. Unless, of course, the figures stop selling. But I suppose the 6 inch figures brought in quite a few new collectors (who don’t necessarily frequent JTA) who have no sentimental attachment to 3.75 inch Kenner figures and will always prefer 6 inch figures, which are, not to forget, the quasi standard for most other action figure lines. In this day and age 3.75 inch action figures are a rarity outside of Star Wars.
Is there a market for two Star Wars action figure scales? 2018 will show! It would be great if two lines are sustainable, so everyone can get what they want!

    • Seronious

Really, you think the 6″ line is going away? The 40th was perhaps the most in-demand line yet, and whenever new figures come out they are snatched up and hard to find (wave 9 comes to mind, along with Baze and Chirrut). Other than the first Rouge One wave, the other 3 waves (wave 9, 10, 11, along with the 2 waves of 40th) have been snatched up rather quickly. The 6″ can remain for years before it gets stale. Of the original 92 Kenner figures, they are barely half way there on those characters so they have a while to go before i’d consider this line cooked. Add in prequel figures, along with characters from the new films that still need to be made, and this lineup has at least 5 more years before they are rehashing the line with remakes..

      • shane

If you think the 6″ line is still going to be Hasbro’s #1 baby next year, you are sadly mistaken. Most people want to pay $10 for a clearance 6″ unless it’s 6″ VC. There were hardly any 3.75″ SA figures available at all, for …years.
Just watch how that changes next year.

        • Seronious

Sorry, but you are living in the past. Just because they throw a vintage style card on a jyn erso figure will not make it have more demand. The walmart waves were just moderately successful, IMO. At most walmarts around me, I can still find loads of 3.75 SA BS figures, but most of the BS 6″ are down to just 1 or 2 figures (mostly a lone zuvio).

          • My Walmarts are swimming in untouched 6″ figures. Swimming.

          • Seronious

Well, the ones around me are not. The only place I can get TFA 6″ figures if I wanted them are at some walgreens, and a Toys R’ Us (and its’ always the same – zuvio, poe’s, an occasional cassian, and flametroopers). Rogue One waves are pretty much gone. I don’t even see Jyn’s anymore. Even the two closest targets are empty of stock at the moment. The Last Jedi reset is awaiting here. I have yet to see any figures from waves 8, 9, or 10 out on the floor of most stores.

          • JAL

Mine are too. All Rogue One waves. Target has the same stuff plus their exclusive. TRU has nothing but old TFA stuff in all sizes. The only 40th stuff on shelves is the Vader Legacy pack at TRU and WM. Target has Leias. The end. Nothing is moving. NOTHING. We’ve had the same AT-STs sitting on the shelf for months. At least 25 of the 4 pk with Saw now marked down. Not a single one has sold. Haven’t had a new case of 5POA since last year. This area never got the Thrawn wave with the exception of one case that arrived at Kroger.

          • CT-7567

Plus most collectors don’t have unlimited budgets. If I see a bunch of TVC figures for $14.99 and the same old 6″ for $20(I personally believe the price is going to be raised on 6″ to $25 when TVC returns), the choice is obvious.

          • shane

We shall see not soon enough. In your defense I see 6″ still being #1 if TVC 3.75″ is priced outrageously higher than expected, like more than $14.99. It could be a problem as I don’t know how many old school people like myself ( yes I am probably living in the past ) there are left anymore.
However, supposedly there will be a much better basic line that isn’t just 5 POA anymore that could really change the game altogether. THAT could be #1 next year. Things get complicated when there are 3 lines going at once.
And it’s a possibility TVC may be a very limited line.
So it could be ….less 6″ AND less TVC as the 3.75″ soars far ahead.
But Hasbro did say 25-40 new TVC.
Isn’t that about the same for the 6″ line ?
Of course I don’t believe anything HASBRO says anymore , it’s tough to speculate.

          • JAL

Your last sentence sums it all up.

          • Seronious

I think 30 to 40 new figures per year for 3 to 4 years sounds about right. Personally, it’s not the 6″ figures that will be dumped by collectors. It will be the 5POA lineup that will get dumped. Most of those will become worthless once their SA counterparts hit.

          • shane

Agreed, that is already happening with 5 POA.
            It’s so POTF-3 ish.
Do you think most 6″ collectors got all 12 40th ? Do you realize how much Luke X-Wing is going for on eBay now ?
If not, I’d be a very ticked off 6″ collector.

          • CT-7567

I only wanted the ones I didn’t have boxed, which I got in wave one but not wave two. I need four from that wave and the limited availability of the line and the fact that it’s OOP just has me more disgusted with the 6″ line.

          • shane

Seems like a pretty crappy move, wasn’t wave 2 released not that long ago ? Good Lord you really gotta move on that. I’m sure you have X-Wing Luke right ? From Wave one.
If you don’t already know, check out what he’s listed for on eBay now.
40th 6″ X-Wing Luke, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND. That’s the POWER of VC packaging.
If I was a 6″ collector, the entire 40th would be a must, and I’d be losing my mind over X-Wing Luke right now.
Then again, I would have got him right away and not waited until now.

          • CT-7567

Yup, I have the original wave one X-Wing Luke. I WAS pretty loyal to the 6″ line, despite preferring 3.75″ SA. But it’s become a ghost line. Only available by pre-orders which usually require the purchase of an entire case or wave, which doesn’t work for me. I’m basically done with 6″ except for possibly tracking down the ERG and getting Lando on HTS. If HTS had them available as singles on a regular basis, I could live with that. I just don’t care enough about them to go through the trouble and cost if ordering cases.

        • Seronious

Both lines can run concurrently just as they have for years. As i’ve said numerous times, the 6″ lineup isn’t even half way done with making the original 96 characters from the OT era… so, it can go on for about 5 or 6 more years producing about 25 to 30 a year (with the new films also in the mix) before it starts to wane thin. The Vintage Collection has already seen over 100 figures produced, so unless they dip into rehashing a lot of those figures, i’m not sure it will have as long of a run. I suspect it goes for 3 more years before it starts to wane again. It all depends on if there are any more films produced after Episode 9, or if they decide to take a break (hopefully). If they take a break, it will allow the VC, and the 6″ lineup to mostly catch up ..

  • TimmytheTusken

Focusing on the sequels and reissues didn’t help. I can go to Wal-Mart’s around here and still see the Luke/Vader/Endor Han wave falling off the pegs. The line was destined to fail

    • Hasbro made really bad character selections for the new films (Leia in THAT outfit -really???), and bad choice for the figures they chose to repack.

  • Fiery Little One

Nice. Part of my reason for going with the 6″ line *is* the fact that you can walk into any store that would sell these to get them.

  • Nick S.

    Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na HEY HEY HEYYYY GOODBYE!!! πŸ˜€

  • BB-Mate

That’s great news for the 3.75 SA collectors. Really happy for you guys!!!

  • Carbonite_Hydrates

No Hasbro!!! Don’t expand the release of TBS 3 3/4 just stop it cold and leave a little time until TVC returns.

The last thing we want is for TVC to be undercut by having the same figures released in little black and red boxes six months earlier.

    • shane

You mean like TVC pushed back because of BS still hanging on pegs ?

      • Carbonite_Hydrates

I mean TVC being instant peg warmers because the first two waves are already released in little black and red boxes in the same store.

It will be TPM-3D all over again with the Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in 5 different packaging configurations each.

    • CT-7567

      Exactly.

  • James

interesting note, I just got back from Walmart and they had put out a new case of SW E7 3.75 IN BK SR FIG AST W2 16 last night. Someone beat me to the royal guards but I was able to snag 1 Ahsoka. Funny thing is there inventory numbers for this sku have been about the same for almost a year, so that means they have been sitting on this case since sept of 2016. Wow.

    • Brian Beck

No. Brickseek counts the whole line, not single sku’s.

  • Jonathan O.

    YES!!!

  • Gloriouscollector

Hmmmmm….I just hope we see The Last Jedi 3.75″S.A. action figures this September.

    • Danny

did you read Paul’s “Rumor Report”

      • I don’t know why I bother sometimes, LOL.

        • CT-7567

TFA Luke, Snoke , Snoke’s Guard and RO pilot, right? I remember that report and a blonde female pilot being shown as the RO pilot, which I hope isn’t the final figure.

    • Somebody mentioned that was supposed to be part the final wave in walmart exclusive line but no one knows if its going to happen of if its even true.

  • Darth_Rizzen

So maybe, just maybe, some European retailers will have them in stock for Christmas 2017?
    What? I can dream… ?

    • GermanBoba

You assume too much … πŸ˜‰

      • Dream crusher!

      • Darth_Rizzen

I assure you that I wouldn’t do anything that wouldn’t be approved by the Senate.

    • Funtomaz

You can count yourself lucky if you find the figures online at normal prices! πŸ˜‰ Any guesses what the MSRP will be? 20 euros? 25? πŸ˜€

      • Darth_Rizzen

The ERGs I just got set me back 20 euros each… But that was a fluke. ?

I’m not sure whether they’ll dare 25 euros though. Not at first anyway.
They charge that much for the 40th “Platinum figurines” at TRU and these aren’t selling.

  • Arm3nch Tripplehorn

Please!!! Let them arrive to Mexico! Resellers put them almost in 50 dollars!!

    • Danny

      Where in Mexico are you?

      • Arm3nch Tripplehorn

        Jalisco :)! Specifically Guadalajara :p
        Why the question?

        • Danny

I’m from Tepa! Anyway, let me know if you need any of the figs.

          • Arm3nch Tripplehorn

How do you mean? :0 I’m interested

  • CobraSaboteur

Finally! I’m so happy that I can soon hunt for them at Kmart…

  • Nick Dickens

“Good riddance to bad rubbish!” as my Gran used to say.

  • Gloriouscollector

Hope we get some information by the time Comic-Con comes around.

  • holy Q

By the way, I never had time to tell about when I came across a TBS 3.75 Captain Cassian Anders at one of my local ToysRUs here in Vienna months ago. Only two were left, or they never had more, no clue. Price was crazy, 20 Euros, but my son still bought it, since we don’t have a chance to get those figures here. I took some pictures, if someone is interested. I even contacted support, because I was curious why they sell it and if it’s possible they get more. It took a week till I got an answer, response was typical unsubstantial. But maybe there are special rules sometimes for Europe? Years ago we could buy Bobas Slave I (Amazon) easily at ToysRUs in Austria too.

    • Funtomaz

The exclusivity agreement with Walmart was limited to the USA only. The line was, in theory, available to retailers in Europe.
TRU Germany started carrying the figures officially back in December 2016 (price was around 19 euros, so somewhat cheaper than at your store). I guess TRU Austria also had a deal with Hasbro.
However, at my local TRU the 3.75 SA Jyn and Cassian figures peg warmed to death and in the eyes of TRU the line might not have been a success.
You could get the figures from German etailers even before December 2016. If you were willing to pay silly prices.

      • holy Q

that is actually the detailed answer i was hoping for, when i contacted support :D. thank you very much, clarified some things for me. about ‘pegwarming’, can we really blame the people if you look at this price? shame nevertheless.

  • mic windu

I appreciate that decisions are made with good intentions for the business, shareholders and occasionally fans, BUT had Hasbro listened and engaged with the people who buy their product they would have saved themselves all of this hassle.

Thank you Hasbro for moving away from 5poa, Thank you Hasbro for moving away from a line being exclusive to one store, all we need now is 3.75 SA in large quantities and we are back at square one from 5 years ago. Vehicles and creatures next!

    • You will still see 5POA this FF.

      • mic windu

Ergh I thought they were moving away from 5poa, one step forward two steps stubbornly standing still!

        • You need to re-read our rumor report. πŸ™‚
          Yes and Yes.

  • I’ll miss sorting though the Finns, Poes and Hans. I also loved how Walmart placed them on pegs so close together that when you moved one to the side to see the one behind it they all began falling to the floor. But they were sometimes nice enough to stack some more boxes on the very top of the shelf just out of reach. Good times! Actually, this is great news. I don’t hate Wally World but would much rather shop elsewhere. This doomed line was the main reason I have been in any Walmart for the last couple of years.

    • Jimmy Griffin

Exactly! Pegs too close together? There’s no telling how many I’ve knocked off; I think I’ve put more Star Wars figures on pegs than the average Walmart employee. And on top of the shelf? That’s where I first found Ahsoka and the ERG; but of course I couldn’t buy them at that time because it was before the “release date”.

    • Hazzbro Jonez

lol. i know this all too well. hahahahahah stuff falling everywhere

  • BlueSaber

    About F’ing time!!!

  • CadeSky

I need a reminder…do we know what to expect from the last wave(s) of 3.75 TBS? This is undoubtedly good news…but I just don’t know how much we’ll actually be seeing at other retailers.

    • CT-7567

Supposedly TFA Luke, Snoke, Snoke’s Guard and a RO pilot(possibly female).

      • CadeSky

Thank you. These were all codenamed probably, right? I think I remember seeing some very vague info.

        • CT-7567

I just remember the JTA report that had movie photos of the four characters. I just posted the GameStop 6″ list above. That has codenames.

      • mz

I’m kinda interested on how Snoke’s guards will look as a figure.

        • CT-7567

Me too. Plus they all look different and use different weapons. I wonder how many different versions we’ll see?

  • Alice Charlie Scoles

I like rearranging the pegs so that all the finns are on one or two pegs as well as all the phasmas, hans. leias. The 6in is even funnier-I even left a note stating that they couldn’t give them away!!!

  • 11Eleven11

Best news since the all-but confirmation of TFA/TLJ Luke for Force Friday and the return of TVC.

    • CT-7567

Except now that TFA Luke might be even harder to get. I got the ERG wave by going to Walmart on FF last year. I was hoping to get TFA Luke the same way.

      • 11Eleven11

Just be at Target at 8 a.m. on Friday morning and you shouldn’t have any problem. Last year, I was the only person there and had my pick of the litter.

        • CT-7567

I hope so. That’s how it was at Walmart last year. It just seems weird for Hasbro to go through the trouble of distributing that last wave to other retailers only to have TBS replaced by TVC. Maybe there’s more TBS figures coming and Hasbro knew Walmart wouldn’t be able to get them out?

          • 11Eleven11

Correct me if I am wrong or have missed something: Do we know what is coming in SA 3.75″ for Force Friday? Will this be the first wave that shows up elsewhere besides WM?

          • CT-7567

All I know is that the last Walmart wave with TFA Luke was supposed to come on FF. Then there’s that leaked list of 6″ stuff from GameStop. Other than that, I’m as in the dark as you as to FF. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d43205728d8d12f0be10a17b626c238c8fd38aacf64b87f103c703bb4405a8b0.jpg

          • 11Eleven11

Yes. I would think we should be getting a non-coded product list soon. Does anyone remember how far in advance of TFA FF Hasbro released the master product list?

          • CT-7567

I don’t think they released anything prior to TFA FF. I remember Jayson at Yakface being nice enough to compile a checklist of what was known to be coming. I still have it in my phone.

          • 11Eleven11

I was thinking Hasbro released an online, full-color product guide that kind of looked like the old booklets they used to put with vehicles back in the day.

          • CT-7567

They did. It was available to download. Ijust don’t remember it being prior to FF. I could certainly be wrong.

          • mz

            when was this leaked?

          • CT-7567

A while back right here at JTA.

          • Yes. Yes.

      • shane

Ya think Hasbro will go over board with Luke since they know he has been wanted for literally years now ? Is it possible Luke Skywalker could ever peg warm ?

        • CT-7567

I doubt it. They have a real problem getting stuff out to their customers that the customers really want. Regardless of how much people like TFA, that Luke is a very desirable figure.

          • shane

Yea, I’d say most desirable ever. So much I know I’ll be buying him in the basic line, 5+ POA and Black Series 3.75″ AND TVC.
We should ( rumor ) see him in 3 different lines AND the 6″ line. So your going to have to buy him at least 4 or 5 times.
I miss him so much I may even buy a Jakks big fig.
Oh, they better not ruin Luke in TLJ.

          • 11Eleven11

Agreed all the way around. I hope to walk out of Target with a shopping cart full of Luke. When we see Luke on the vintage style card next year, I can’t promise I won’t cry like a little kid.

        • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Well, Rey and Jyn are sure peg-warming these days. Although Rey was hard to find for many months.

        • mz

well the repack of the old Luke for the 3.75in line did somewhat peg warm, however with TFA Luke I don’t think he will, since a lot of collectors would be buying multiples of him and scalpers trying to resell him since people want him.

      • He’ll be easier to get and you won’t have to go to Walmart… full distribution… isn’t that what this is all about

  • shane

Reminds me of all the times I tried to get info from Walmart employees and one of two things would always happen:
    1. A bland gaze in my direction with a …huh !?
    Or
    2. A solid answer on when product was DEFINITELY arriving …….and never arrived.
Wednesday, yes Wednesday for sure, the new wave will be here. I stop in. Go to the
Isle. Feel a cold wind blowing across the exact same situation I saw last week.

  • 11Eleven11

Paul, I have a quick question: Is the SA line moving over to TVC? What I mean to say is, will SA figures still appear in whatever modern packing is rolled out for Force Friday when TVC returns next year, or are all SA figures about to be moved to TVC? Is the SA line about to be dropped from TBS and moved exclusively to TVC, or will the two sit side-by-side? Thanks.

    • CT-7567

If you don’t mind my input, I was under the impression that the 3.75″ TBS had one more wave and then SA was moving to TVC. It seems like this is still the case, just that the last wave won’t be exclusive to Walmart. Or maybe TBS isn’t cancelled? TBS as a general retail line along with TVC seems a bit odd and unlikely.

      • 11Eleven11

I welcome your input, and those are my exact points. I think what you are saying is correct, but I wasn’t sure.

    • Seronious

Sounds like that is what is about to happen. I bet most of the BS figures over the past few films will be repackaged in the VC cards. I doubt they provide many new sculpts. Instead of Poe, Finn, Blue Leia, and Phasma hanging on the pegs in the boxes, they’ll now hang on the pegs in carded format.

  • Jedicassie

What if they just gave exclusivity to another store? It’s hard to optimistic right now.

    • NO! No exclusivity!

  • Jawa scavenger

Walmart failed us for the last time! Hmm probably not, but I like the thought of it

  • CT-7567

Wait, so the last wave with TFA Luke is either not coming to Walmart on FF, or is coming but now will not be exclusive to Walmart? I’m as happy as everyone else that they lost the rights to this line, but I was really hoping I’d get that TFA Luke the same way I got the ERG wave. That was to simply got to Walmart when they opened on FF. It seems odd that Hasbro would distribute one TBS wave beyond Walmart only to have the line replaced by TVC. Could this mean other waves might become available again at other stores like the RO figures?

    • I’d rather wait to get it on Vintage cardback, wouldn’t you?

      • Stereotypical Evil Archer

They’ll plan a wave to put it on Vintage and then cancel the wave.

      • CT-7567

Tough question. Normally I’d say yes. We’ve already waited this long. Its important for me to have a Luke figure when TLJ is released. If I knew for a fact that we were getting a 5poa Luke for TLJ on FF then yes, I could easily wait until next spring for a SA TFA Luke and certainly would prefer it on a vintage card. I just want some form of Luke in either his TFA or TLJ costume in time for the movie. When I was a kid the first SW film I saw in a theater was ROTJ. Right after seeing the movie I got my mom to take me looking for Jedi Luke. I wanted that figure SO bad after seeing the movie. It took about a week or two to find one. After that I developed this tradition with certain movies where I get a few figures(or at least one) after seeing the movie. I did this for a lot of summer blockbusters growing up, like getting a Batman figure after the 1989 movie. Of course I held my tradition up during the Special Editions, PT, TCW film and TPM 3D. Unfortunately it was ruined when I couldn’t find any figures after seeing TFA. Last year, I kept a few RO figures from FF carded to open on the day of the movie, but it wasn’t as cool as going to a store and getting them right after seeing the film. Idk if my little tradition sounds dumb to you, but it’s always been important to me and not having a Luke figure available after TFA was a big disappointment for me.

  • YEAH! I can delete my Walmart APP and (hopefully) never have to enter that store again!!!!!!

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

    Wow! Hasbro moves SLOW.

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

That’s what Walmart deserves for lying about their stock levels.

  • PeakOB1

I have still yet to see the $5.84 purge happen at my Walmarts, I really hope it happens at some point because i would buy a lot of that stuff for those prices.

Not trying to spark an argument but I don’t feel Walmart is solely to blame for the problems we have seen in distribution, there has also been a lot of misdirection and holding things back on the part of Hasbro, in favor of other products they wish to be sold first. Cassian in the brown jacket is a perfect example of the silliness!

what i would really like to see is an official breakup with the products
6 inch is it’s own thing and 3.75 is it’s own thing….too many piggyback rides have gone on over the last fives years.

if six inch doesn’t have the legs to support it self then it shouldn’t be made!

    • JACKOFTRADZE

You are correct, WM did not choose or create the carry forwards of some of the most worthless characters from the TFA line – Finn and Poe! No one was clamoring for Hoth Han 2.0 or the geriatric drug addict. (I make no apologies, I lost total respect for her.) Everyone was crapping their Yoda underoos over Luke, Endor Han, Chewie and Vader, LOL you cannot find them anywhere!

What a mess…,Chewie do you think you can fix it? (Chewie nodding head no.)

      • PeakOB1

I find it odd that nobody realizes these products are all unsold merchandise from a bye gone era of collecting.
While most people shut me down, every character or vehicle that has come out in the last five years has been something that hasn’t sold well in the past or had some kind of problem with distribution.

It almost ridiculous nobody but me is seeing it!
Look at Han and R2 six inch… they are so hard to get because they finally blew though the leftovers they had from the first time around

    • mz

it happened at my Walmart. that’s how I was able to get Rey.

  • Jebediaah

    Just in from Hasbro:
The former The Black Series 3.75-inch figures are no longer exclusive to Wal-Mart stores. Starting July 30th, in addition to Wal-Mart, you can find these spectacular figures at Target, GameStop, HEB, Toys R Us, Meijer and what’s left of K-Mart.
To celebrate the line’s return to our fantastic retail partners, you will find this following fan favorite assortment:

    Obi-Wan Kenobi (Coruscant Chase/Saga) x4
    Stormtrooper (POTF2/Commtech) x4
    Chewbacca (Dejarik Champion/POTJ) x4

    May We Force You,
    Hasbro

  • JACKOFTRADZE

Blah, blah, blah show me the real goods already not rows of Snow Coat Crusty Hans, Snoke Coke’n Leias and worthless Finns. This line sucks and has for far too long time to turn it around anytime soon if at all. It’s all talk, no figures and continuous speculation that leads to no where but disappointing worthless product. Until Hasbro ponies up some real gems and actually delivers no one should get worked up OR excited for that matter. It only took them how many years to catch up with what we have already known?

    Carry on…..

  • Arm3nch Tripplehorn

Ggggg! Indeed! Not hearing that song or mariachi is not coming to Guadalajara.

  • ARC-77

Well hopefully the later waves of black series 3.75 will turn up at discount stores or be rereleased or something. Its a shame that so many people have to miss out on those figures.. the ones I’ve managed to get are pretty awesome.
